Seven Hills Motorcars is proud to offer this very rare 1940 Buick
Super 40-51C 4 Door Convertible Phaeton. The car came out of
Arizona and is amazing clean, solid, and rust free.
Only 1531 Super 51C's were made in 1940 making this car extremely
rare. It
runs great, drives well, and has a ton of potential.
This car is remarkably original and complete.
Please peruse all of the photos below, especially those of the
underside of the car, to get a true sense of how clean and original
this Buick really is.
As a side note, this Buick is not a dealer auction vehicle.
We hand pick each car after careful inspection. Our cars
come from owners who expect their cars to go to someone that will
give the vehicle the same care and attention as they did. We
invite and encourage you to examine the car in person or have the
car inspected. Please take the time to examine each picture.
We photograph each vehicle to the greatest extent so you can feel
confident about your purchase. If you have a question about
the Buick, just give us a call.

about our dealership
Seven Hills Motorcars is
Cincinnati's premier Corvette and Cadillac specialist and a licensed
and registered auto dealer with the State of Ohio. With many
years of focused experience I specialize in 1957 to 2004 Corvettes and
1953 to 1976 Cadillacs. There is no other dealership that can
better meet your needs if you would like to buy, sell, or just find out
more information about your Corvette or Cadillac. This is simply a
one man operation, and this is not my full time employment. I do
it because I enjoy it. I am a collector and enthusiast and
therefore look for cars that excite me. I do not purchase at
dealer auctions; each car is hand picked by me because it is special or
rare to me and because I like it.

vehicle condition
Exterior
The Carlsbad
Black exterior is in very presentable condition.
The
paint has a smooth finish and deep shine. There are no
major blemishes in the paint that have been intentionally
excluded from the photos. I have done my best to
accurately and objectively photograph the car and show all of
the flaws, but some are too small or cannot be picked up by the
camera. One should really view the car in person to get
the best and most accurate idea of what the car really looks
like.
The chrome, stainless, and other
brightwork on the car is actually in good condition relative to
everything else.
The convertible top is tight, but it will close and latch at the
front and removable side posts. There are some worn spots
and holes in the top as one can see in the photos.
The tires have a "portawall" style
whitewall and are not overly worn, but are quite dry rotted.
I have tried to take photos of the inner wheel wells and the
areas most prone to rust in order to show how solid this car
really is.
Interior
The red interior basically looks in
person just as it does in the photos. It is very complete,
but also shows some signs of the Arizona sun and heat. The
seats are okay, with some wear in the driver's area and the
right side of the rear seat. The carpet is actually in
pretty nice condition with no major rips, holes, or stains.
The door panels are in good shape. The metal dash looks
all right with no dents. All of the gauges, radio, clock
in the glovebox, and even the correct cigarette lighter are
present. The bottom side of the rear seat is more glossy
than the rest of the interior as well as the convertible top
boot.
Mechanical
This car appears to be in overall good
mechanical condition.
The Buick straight
8 starts every time, idles very smooth, and runs great.
I have driven this car around town, on some back roads, and it
did quite well for its age. The fuel gauge, temperate
gauge, oil pressure gauge, and battery gauge all work. The
exterior lights work, the turn signals work, and even the
indicators in the dash work.
With all of that
said it could stand some improvements all around. The
speedometer doesn't work. The horn and wipers do not
operate. The brakes have felt
ok driving around town at relatively low speeds. The
system did seem like it could use some improvement under hard
breaking though. White I have taken this car on short
outings around town, I have not had the car on the highway and I
would not trust it on a long road trip.
There may be other
troubles with the car that I have possibly overlooked so I would
suggest that any perspective buyer inspect the car in person if
possible.
This car is still a ton of fun to drive,
especially with top down on a beautiful day.
Overall
Condition
This is a vary rare opportunity to buy an
very low production early Buick Convertible. The original
owners manual from 1940 is pictured below and still with the
car. The vehicle would be perfect for someone looking for
something very special to take to the cruise in or someone
looking to do a full restoration. These Super convertibles
do not come up for sale often. This particular car is
priced to sell and has a great amount of upside. One could
enjoy this vehicle for several years and sell it for more than
your purchase price. The car gets A TON of attention going
down the road.
The pictures reflect how the car
really looks in person. Classic convertibles are highly
collectible and make excellent and practical cars to use and
drive.
We, as always, would encourage you
to take the time to view the car in person if possible. We
have nothing to hide, that is why we include so many photos.
If there is anything unclear or if you have any questions or
