1966 was truly
the end of an era and the final year for the iconic rear wheel drive
Eldorado. The 1966 Cadillac featured and entirely new front
end ensemble. The parking lamps and indicators were moved from
the bumper and integrated into the grill. The grill itself was
also all new with bolder grid lines and a new full width horizontal
main element, which parallels and complements the new hood
extensions. The 1966 headlamps were a much cleaner and more
integrated design that were individually recessed within a body
colored sculptured enclosure. The Eldorado featured a new
brushed chrome rocker molding and a discreet accent molding that
extends uninterrupted all the way from the front wheel opening to
the rear bumper. New coring lamps became an individual aspect
highlighted by the Cadillac crest in a new panel setting. A
new hubcap design has alternating bright and brushed chrome rings
and a grooved center section that draws the eye to the Cadillac
crest.
Rear end appearance is
improved by the new bumper design, which emphasizes the low wide
stance of the car with the valance portion now finished in the body
color. The appearance of the stance is also enhanced by the
new rear deck lid which extends all the way down to the bumper top
and by the lower placement of the deck sill grill moldings.
The 1966 Cadillac also featured a new beautiful and distinctive rear
lamp that is highlighted by a vertical feature that not only looks
stunning, but also protects the lamp and reflects light to both
sides.
Inside the car the
clock and speedometer faces are newly refined with easier to read
dials and materials intended to minimize reflection. The
Eldorado received all new rich, hard-surfaced wood trim in Walnut
that is 3/8" thick, resistant to wear, scratching, and sunlight, and
also signifying the essence of opulence that is the most impressive
Cadillac model available. The excitement of the new Cadillac
is portrayed in the the slimmer sculptured buckets seats new for
1966.
1966 was beyond doubt
the pinnacle and highest achievement in mid '60's Cadillac design,
comfort, and grandeur.

about our dealership
Seven Hills Motorcars is
Cincinnati's premier Corvette and Cadillac specialist and a licensed
and registered auto dealer by the State of Ohio. With many
years of focused experience I specialize in 1957 to 1982 Corvettes and
1953 to 1976 Cadillacs. There is no other dealership that can
better meet your needs if you would like to buy, sell, or just find out
more information about your Corvette or Cadillac. This is simply a
one man operation, and this is not my full time employment. I do
it because I enjoy it. I am a collector and enthusiast and
therefore look for cars that excite me. I do not purchase at
dealer auctions; each car is hand picked by me because it is special or
rare to me and because I like it.

vehicle condition
Exterior
The white
exterior is in excellent driver condition.
As one can see
from the photos the paint has a fine finish and a great luster.
The body
has no noteworthy dents or dings.
The convertible top is in great
condition with no rips or holes.
The power feature of the convertible top also works well with no
strain or binding in the mechanism.
The chrome, stainless,
and other bright work is in excellent condition with no notable
rust or pitting. This Cadillac still features its original
hubcaps.
The tires appear
to have about 90% tread left. There is one thin spot paint
about 2" in size on the left side of the car; there is a
specific picture below showing the area. There are
some small spots
and other blemishes around the car
that were
too faint to show up in the photos, but nothing that is really
noticeable from five to ten feet away. There is no rust
showing anywhere on the outside body of the car and the frame
does have some repair.
Please note that the car still has correct convertible top
glass. It was not replaced with a cheaper plastic window
when the top was replaced. The convertible top boot is
also included.
Interior
The Midnight Blue Leather interior
of this Eldorado is in terrific condition.
The bucket seats look just in person
as they do in the photos with no holes, or excessive
wear. The rear seats are also in excellent condition.
Please note that these appear to be the original seats, not
some cheap aftermarket replacement. The carpet is in
nice condition as well with no holes. This is one spot
on passenger side of the carpet, but as one can see in the
photos it is hardly noticeable and covered by the mat.
The door panels are in very nice shape and unlike many cars
of this age, they fit very well and tight to the door.
The arm pads on the door panels are not cracked or split,
which is a very common problem on this era Cadillac,
especially the convertibles. All of the original wood
grain looks beautiful with no peeling or delamination.
The motor for the power seat on the driver's side works, but
the seat does not move. The power function on the
passenger seat operates properly. The original radio
clicks on, lights up, and crackles, but does not play sound.
The original power antenna still works and operates properly
from the radio. This Cadillac has never been smoked
in, there are no burn marks or aroma at all.
Even very
detailed items such as the vacuum operated remote trunk
release, the glove box light, and center console compartment
light are functional on this car.
Convertible interiors are not
known to wear well and the gorgeous condition of this
original interior
is a testament
to the meticulous care this Cadillac has received throughout
it's life.
Mechanical
This car is in nice mechanical
condition. There are no issues with the drivability of
this Cadillac.
The car starts right away every time, runs well, and idles well.
There is no smoke when starting or driving the car.
The car is an awesome driver; it
is smooth on the road and at highway speeds. The
transmission shifts well throughout the power band.
The brakes are responsive and do not pull to one side or the
other. There is a
slight tick sometimes audible that may be an exhaust leak, which
is very common on this era of Cadillac.
All of the interior and exterior lights work, all of the gauges
work, the indicators on top of the fenders work, the horn works,
the power door locks, the blower and heat work, even the
original cruise control and power vent windows still work.
Not enough can be said as to how much of a pleasure it is to
drive this car, especially with top down on a nice day.
Overall
Condition
This Cadillac is in great condition. With
only 2,250 Eldorado Convertibles made in 1966 this is an
excellent opportunity to purchase a very rare car; these cars do
not come up for sale often. 1966 is also the end of an era
and the last of any style is always extra collectible. In
general, the 1965 and 1966 Eldorados have become very scarce and
extremely desirable in the past few years. Convertible
Cadillac’s make excellent cars to drive.
One could enjoy this vehicle for several
years and sell it for more than your purchase price.
We, as always, would encourage you
to take the time to view the car in person if possible. We
have nothing to hide, that is why we include so many photos.
If there is anything unclear or if you have any questions please
feel free email or call.
Thank you for looking and please email or
