about our dealership
Seven Hills Motorcars is Cincinnati's premier Corvette and Cadillac specialist and a licensed and registered auto dealer with the State of Ohio.  With many years of focused experience I specialize in 1963 to 1982 Corvettes and 1953 to 1976 Cadillacs.  There is no other dealership that can better meet your needs if you would like to buy, sell, or just find out more information about your Corvette or Cadillac.  This is simply a one man operation, and this is not my full time employment.  I do it because I enjoy it.  I am a collector and enthusiast and therefore look for cars that excite me.  I do not purchase at dealer auctions; each car is hand picked by me because it is special or rare to me and because I like it.

vehicle description

Seven Hills Motorcars is very glad to offer this gorgeous 1968 Cadillac DeVille convertible
for sale.  This car received mild driver quality restoration within the last year.  Cosmetically, the car was completely stripped down to bare metal and repainted in the correct original color of Grecian white.  I have included some photos of the process below.  In the photos you will notice how he went to the effort of using metal, not body filler, to make any repairs to the body.  Mechanically, the engine and transmission were rebuilt during the same period.  The entire car has seen limited use since the restoration.  There is no way someone could even complete the work done to the car for same cost as our asking price.  One could easily buy this car now and sell it for more than the purchase price with minimal work and effort.  Please peruse all of the photos below to get a true sense of this Cadillac.

We purchased this car from a gentleman in Louisville, KY and believe that it has resided in the Louisville area its entire life.  This Cadillac rolled off the assembly line during the third week of December in 1967 and, according to the previous owner, was sold through Cal Connell Cadillac in Louisville.  There is also some paperwork with the car dating back to 1987 showing that it was registered in Louisville.  This would mean that the car was never in a northern climate or subject to harsh winters with lots of salt on the road that would cause serious rust problems.

Exterior

The exterior is in excellent driver condition.  As one can see in the photos the paint has dazzling gloss, deep shine, and nice finish.  The body is straight with no notable dents, wrinkles, or dings.  This Cadillac basically looks in person just as it does in the photos.  There are no major spots or blemishes that have been intentionally excluded from the photos.   There are some small spots around the car were too faint to show in in photos, but nothing that is really stands out from five or ten feet away.  The chrome, stainless, and other bright work on the car is in decent shape with no major rust or pitting.  The power top works with no binding in the mechanism and the top operates properly, you can hear some fluid noise from the cylinders.  The top does have some wear and shows signs of age, but has a nice bright color with no stains and looks pretty good for the most part A red soft top boot is included with the car.  It is not shrunken and actually fits quite well.  The tires are almost brand new and appear to have about 95% tread left.

Window Date Codes

Windshield: VZ - The "V" denotes December and "Z" 1967 so the windshield was made in December of 1967.

Driver's Front: VZ - The "V" denotes December and "Z" 1967 so the front driver's side window was made in December of 1967.

Driver's Vent: AZ - The "A" denotes September and "Z" 1967 so the driver's side vent window was made in May of 1967.

Driver's Rear: VZ - The "V" denotes December and "Z" 1967 so the rear driver's side window was made in December of 1967.

Passenger's Front: CZ - The "C" denotes November and "Z" 1967 so the front passenger's side window was made in November of 1967.

Passenger's Vent: AZ - The "A" denotes September and "Z" 1967 so the passenger's side vent window was made in September of 1967.

Passenger's Rear: CZ - The "C" denotes November and "Z" 1967 so the rear passenger's side window was made in November of 1967.

All of the glass on this car, even the vent windows and windshield, is original and correct as all pieces predate the car's body build date of the third week of December 1967.   Original glass is a good indication that the car has not been in a major accident and never sustained significant damage.

Interior

The red interior of this Cadillac looks great.  The seats are in nice shape and appear to be have been recovered recently.  They have no rips, split seams, or signs of excessive wear, this includes the rear seat.  There is some cracking on top of the seat frame trim visible in the photos.  The carpet looks good overall with no major stains, tears, or holes, but does not fit perfectly in the area near the driver's kick panel.  This is visible in the photos, but as you can see not very noticeable.  The door panels are in excellent shape and unlike many cars of this age, they fit very well and tight to the door.  The arm pads on the door panels are not cracked or split, which is a very common problem on this era Cadillac, especially the convertibles.  The power seat runs and works in most directions.  The dash looks good with no cracks or sun damage.  The original AM radio still works in addition to the aftermarket stereo installed under the dash.  The installation of the new radio is not obtrusive and most importantly the stock dash was not cut up or modified for the installation.  This car has been smoked in and has no aroma of cigarette smoke.

Mechanical

This car seems to be is in good mechanical condition.  There are no immediate issues with the drivability of this Cadillac that I am aware of.  The car has seen limited use since the engine and transmission were rebuilt.  The car starts right away every time, runs well, and idles well.  There is no smoke when starting or driving the car.  The car is a nice driver; it is smooth on the road and at highway speeds.  The transmission shifts well throughout the power band.  The gauges work, as do the horn, vent windows, remote mirror, and wipers.  The blower for the heater works and even blows out of the correct vents for heat on the floor and defrost on the windshield.  Even the power antenna works.  The left front turn signal does not work.  All of the windows work from the the driver's door, but the stop for the driver's window needs some adjustment.  The windows do not work from each of their perspective window switches meaning that the window lock switch may need replacement.  Not enough can be said as to how much of a pleasure it is to drive this car, especially with top down on a beautiful sunny day.

Overall
Condition

This Cadillac is very nice driver and priced to sell.  It gets A TON of attention going down the road.  Convertible Cadillacís are highly collectible and make excellent cars to drive.  Convertible classic cars, especially Cadillac's have quickly appreciated over the past several years and make excellent investments.  One could easily enjoy this vehicle for several years and sell it for more than your purchase price.  As always, any potential buyer is encouraged to take the time to view the car in person or have it professionally inspected.  We have nothing to hide, that is why we include so many photos.

Thank you for looking and please email or call with any questions.
