vehicle description

Seven Hills Motorcars is extremely proud to offer this amazingly low original mile 1973 Camaro Type LT Survivor which is in excellent condition inside and out and priced to sell. This Camaro is in amazing condition and has only 49,770 actual miles. Please see photos below of the included service record book of maintenance performed on this car from starting in 1974 with mileage accounts along the way, plus several inspection certificates also validating the original mileage. The previous owner we purchased the car from owned car for 21 plus years and recorded less than 10,000 miles in his time of ownership. This Camaro was well preserved throughput its 42 years of ownership by enthusiasts to maintain a factory fresh and correct appearance in great detail. Another great example of the meticulous ownership is the copious amount of service records and documentation. Please be sure to view the end of the video below where we should the entire maintenance book. Along with the records the original owners manual, warranty booklet with the original owners name, consumer information guide, emissions booklet, and original maintenance folio are included with the car and pictured below. This low mile survivor Camaro is a time capsule and truly an investment grade vehicle. One can even see how clean, solid, correct, and original the car is underneath in the many photos below of the car on a lift.

Throughout the entire F-Body market right now, this is one of the nicest and most desirable Camaros available. Besides being a Type LT it is loaded with rare desirable options like F41 Special High Performance Suspension, Positraction, power steering, power brakes, and the beautiful color scheme. There is no way this car could be duplicated with this level of originality or quality for anything near our asking price, cars like this are only original once. This Camaro looks great, runs awesome, and is truly on of the best driving Camaros that we have owned. We purchased this Camaro from a gentleman in Kentucky. The car was so nice, drove so well, and felt to reliable that we decided to drive it back to our shop, located about an hour away. I would not hesitate to hop in the car right now and take a road trip, which is not something we say about every car.

This is an excellent opportunity to own a classic Camaro that is ready to be used and enjoyed at an unbeatable value. One could easily buy this car now and sell it for more than the purchase price in years to come as these F-Body's are appreciating fast. This Camaro is finished in the beautiful and desirable color combinations of Dark Blue over Black vinyl Type LT interior with a black vinyl top. This is the factory color scheme as verified on the trim tag pictured below with the correct codes for the paint (26), interior (773), and even the black vinyl top (B). The very low original mileage is verified not only by the condition of the car, but also the clear Ohio title, pictured below, that states the mileage as "Actual," as well as the extensive documentation that accompanies the car. Please peruse all of the photos, numbers, video, and information below to get a true sense of clean and nice this Camaro Type LT really is.

Thankfully and as stated above the previous owners of this car were very meticulous and kept detailed and copious service and maintenance records dating back to 1974. This is not only a benefit because of the information it provides about the service history of the car and a great representation of good and careful ownership over the years, but also a great benefit to the verification of the very low original mileage. The oil was changed 13 times from 8,100 miles to 36,100 miles at an average of every 2,153 miles.

As a side note, this Camaro is not a dealer auction vehicle. We hand pick each car after careful inspection. Our classics come from owners who expect their cars to go to someone that will give the vehicle the same care and attention as they did. We invite and encourage you to examine the car in person or have the car inspected. Please take the time to scrutinize each picture. We photograph each vehicle to the greatest extent so you can feel confident about your purchase. If you have a question about the Camaro, just give us a call.

model description

The 1973 Type LT included 7" rally wheels, variable ratio power steering, hidden wipers, blackout rocker sills and moldings, sport mirrors right and left, full instrumentation (U14), extra body and hood insulation, deluxe seat trim, bright beaded wood grain trim on the instrument panel and doors and LT emblems on the steering wheel and exterior.

numbers

Please note when checking the numbers that not only do the correct stampings and casting numbers appear on the parts, but all of the dates are also chronologically correct. This means that all of the parts were made and assembled in the correct order. For example, all of the dates for the individual engine components and the engine casting date should obviously precede the assembly date of the engine because the parts had to be produced before they could be assembled. All of the parts I checked follow this rule and are dated correctly.

item number description
VIN 1S87K3N146992 The first digit, "1," indicated the Chevrolet division of GM.  The "S" is the model level, correct for Type LT.  The "87" is the body style, 2-door sport coupe.  The fifth digit is the engine, K, correct for an 350ci car.  The sixth digit, "3," indicates the model year, 1973.  The "N" is the plant where the car was produced, Norwood, OH.  The last five digits are a sequence number for each plant so this is the 46,992nd Camaro made in Norwood for 1973.
Body Build Date 04C "04" is the fourth month of the year and "C" is the third week of the month meaning this Camaro's body build date is the third week of April, 1973.
Engine Code T0417 "T" means the engine was built in the Tonawanda plant.  The "04" is the fourth month of year and the "17" is the seventeenth day of the month meaning the engine was assembled on April 17, 1973. This stamping is pictured below.
Suffix Code CKU This means the motor was intended for a 350ci V8 Camaro with an automatic transmission, which is correct for this car. This stamping is pictured below.
Engine VIN Stamping 164992 The last 6 digits of the car's VIN, 164992, are stamped on the engine pad meaning this engine is original to this car. This stamping is also pictured below.
Engine Block Casting Number 3970014 The engine block has a 3970014 casting number. The Chevrolet By the Numbers Book lists this casting number for 1972 Camaros. It also mentions that there was used of this block at the Tonawanda plant where this engine was assembled so in in our experience it is totally plausible that it was used in 1973.
Intake Manifold Casting Number 3997771 The intake manifold is correct with a 3997771 casting number.
Intake Manifold Casting Date D 14 73 "D" is April, "14" is the fourteenth day of the month, and "73" is the calendar year so the intake was cast on April 14, 1973.  Which is correct as it predates the assembly date of the engine.
Distributor 1112094 The distributor is correct with 1112094 stamped on the housing.
Distributor Date Code 3 C 26 The "3" is the last digit of the calendar year, the "C" denotes March, and "26" is the twenty-sixth day of the month meaning the distributor was made on March 26, 1973.  This is correct as it predates the build date of the engine.
Carburetor Main Body

7043202

The "70" is a code used on all Rochester carbs from 1965-1975. The third digit, "4," indicates it was made from 1970-1975. The fourth digit, "3," is the model year, 1970. The fifth digit, "2," indicates that it is a 4BBL Quadrajet carb. The sixth digit, "0," means was built for the Chevrolet division of GM. The last digit, "2," means it was intended for use in an automatic transmission car.
Carburetor Date Code D3 "D" is the month in which the carburetor was produced. The "3" is the last digits of the calendar year so this Rochester Quadrajet was made in April of 1973.
Transmission VIN Stamp 164992 The last 6 digits of the car's VIN, 164992, are stamped on the main case of the transmission meaning this engine is original to this car. This stamping is also pictured below.
Transmission Date Code Y 3 D 11 "Y" means the transmission as build in the Toledo, OH plant. The "3" is the last digit of the calendar year, 1973. The "D" is the fourth month of the year and the "11" is the eleventh day of the month.  This means the transmission was made in Toledo, OH on April 11, 1973.
Windshield LU The "L" is March and "U" is 1973 so even the windshield correct and original, made in March of 1973.
Driver's Window LU The "L" is March and "U" is 1973 so this window is correct and original, made in March of 1973.
Passenger Window. LU The "L" is March and "U" is 1973 so this window is correct and original, made in March of 1973.
Rear Window GU The "G" is April and "U" is 1973 so the rear window is correct and original, made in March of 1973.

condition

Exterior

The Dark Blue exterior is in excellent driver condition. The exterior and paint appears to be mostly original and in great preserved condition. The way this car shows is a testament to the care this car has received over 42 years of pampered ownership. As one can see in the photos, the paint has an awesome gloss, nice shine, and smooth finish. Both doors open and shut nicely and the car exhibits good body panel fit overall. The original black vinyl top looks spectacular. The bumpers, trim, chrome, and other bright work in amazing condition with no pitting, cloudiness, or dents. The factory original spot welds are still visible in the wheel wells and pictured below. Often Camaro's will have particularly chipped up front ends; this car does not. The factory Rally wheels are in excellent original condition with no curb rash and have a great finish. The tires are BF Goodrich and sized at 235/60/14. All of the weather stripping is very good well preserved condition and is not dry or brittle. There are some very small chips that have been touched up and tiny door dings with specific photos below and some other faint imperfections that were to small to show up in the photos, but nothing that is really noticeable from about five away. The trunk is complete and looks virtually new and fully detailed with spare tire, jack, base, and original trunk mat. Even the cardboard speaker insulation box in the trunk is in amazing condition and pictured below. The original cardboard is very fragile and it's very rare to even see them still with a car, let alone in this pristine shape. Often times people repaint trunks to cover other problems, in that same photo please note that the fantastic condition of the factory original red oxide primer finish on the inside sheet metal.

The Camaro looks just as good in person as it does in the photos.

Interior

The original Black Type LT interior of the Camaro looks utterly splendid and nearly factory new. The original seat covers look just as good in person as they do in the photos, they are not faded in any area, and have no seam splits or stress cracks. The carpet is also in "like new" condition with no major stains, rips, or holes. The original dash and components look amazing with no cracks, splits, or sun fading; frankly it's the best bezel, radio, glove box, and gauge cluster we have ever seen in person. The gauge faces still look crisp and the lenses are crystal clear and not scratched up. The original AM/FM radio still gets great reception as one can see in the video below. All interior lights and gauges work with the obvious exception of the clock. Even the under hood engine light works as does the inside trunk light. The original door panels look excellent with no cracks or splits, and both door pulls are solid and in tact. The headliner is in great shape with no holes or stains and no sagging. Even the original rubber floor mats are still with the car, the front passenger mat has tear, but as one can see in the photos it is not very noticeable. The shoulder belt mounts and covers on the ceiling are still in tact, complete, and in excellent condition. The original package tray and speaker grill looks great with no warping, fading, or sun damage. This is one of the best original interiors we have ever seen in person and is a true study of how these cars looked from the factory. There is no aroma of cigarettes. Both front seat belts operate well and retract correctly, which is a very common problem on GM cars from this era and a small detail many buyers do not check. These Camaro interiors are not known to wear well and the excellent condition of this original interior is a huge testament to the painstaking care and attention this car has received throughout its life by its previous owners.

The interior looks just as good in person as it does in the photos.

Mechanical

This Camaro Type LT is in excellent mechanical condition and it is ready to be driven and enjoyed. Very Importantly the original numbers matching engine still resides under the hood and is in great running condition with less than 49,770 miles on the odometer, please look at the close up picture below of the correct VIN stamp on the engine block and transmission. In the video below one can see the car accelerating on the highway up to about 70 mph, braking to stoplight, accelerating away, and going through some curves. Please note that it shifts properly, there are no strange vibrations, and the car performs fantastic overall. This Camaro is an exceptional driver that feels great on the road and at highway speeds, especially with the F41 high performance suspension. There is no smoke when starting or driving the car. It starts right away every time, idles well, and runs excellent. The brakes do not pull and even the emergency brake works as it should. The exhaust system has been upgraded to dual mufflers and looks to be the only deviation from stock in the entire driveline. Also, the engine compartment is beautifully clean, detailed, and original as one can see in the photos. Even all of the small vacuum lines in the engine compartment are routed correctly and still feature the correct and original colored striped and coding. The horn works as do all the interior and exterior lights, wipers, blower for the heater on all speeds, and both turn signal indictors. The speedometer, tachometer, odometer, temperature, fuel, and amp gauges all work as they should. This Camaro has lots of power and handles amazingly. Not enough can be said as to how much of a real pleasure and delight it is to drive this car.

Overall Condition

Overall, this 1973 Camaro Type LT Survivor is in awesome condition. It is a great value and we have it priced to sell. We do not normally talk-up the cars as much as we have with this Camaro, but it is truly one of the nicest F-Body's we have seen. The, rarity, originality, extensive documentation, beautiful and desirable color combination, and the great extent to which the numbers match make this Camaro especially important and extremely hard to duplicate. This car turns heads and gets a ton of attention wherever it goes. The value of these cars has gone up exponentially in recent years. They are all solid investments for a collector or the average enthusiast. Cars like this are the Barrett Jackson stars of the future. One could easily enjoy this vehicle for several years and sell it for more than the purchase price with minimal effort.

Other sellers are not taking the time to show the car is in such great detail to give you all of the other numbers. Numbers matching is extremely important in Chevrolet pricing and will become even more important as time passes and this car becomes older and even more rare and desired. This information is very valuable and important for pricing. Any perspective buyer, for any of our vehicles or from other sellers, should ask for all the numbers and information before he or she makes a purchase.

Thank you for looking and please do not hesitate to email or call with any questions.
