This Z28 is in like new condition in every way and has only 17,373 original miles on the clock. This Z28 was well preserved through 34 years of ownership by Camaro enthusiasts to maintain a factory fresh and correct appearance in every way and detail. This low mile survivor Z28 is a time capsule and is an investment grade vehicle that is in like new showroom condition. One can even see how clean the car is underneath in the photos below of the car on a lift. Please note in those photos that many of the original factory paper tags are still on certain parts such as the rear sway bar and springs. The previous owners were so particular with this that that when he noticed one of these paper tags that was in danger and falling off, he removed it and preserved it in plastic , noting the exact location, to stay with the car for the future.  Some of these other tags are pictured below.

Throughout the entire F-Body market right now, this is one of the nicest and most desirable Camaros available. There is no way this car could be duplicated with this level of originality for anything near our asking price, cars like this are only original once. This Z28 looks great, runs awesome, and is fun to drive. This is an excellent opportunity to own a classic Camaro that is ready to be used and enjoyed at an unbeatable value. One could easily buy this car now and sell it for more than the purchase price in years to come as these F-Body's are appreciating fast. This Z28 is finished in the beautiful and desirable color combinations of Carmine Red Paint over Carmine Red interior. This is the factory color scheme as verified on the trim tag pictured below as well as the original build sheet, which is also still with the car and pictured bwlow. Please peruse all of the photos below to get a true sense of clean and nice this Trans Am really is.

As a side note, this Camaro is not a dealer auction vehicle.  We hand pick each car after careful inspection.  Our classics come from owners who expect their cars to go to someone that will give the vehicle the same care and attention as they did.  We invite and encourage you to examine the car in person or have the car inspected.  Please take the time to scrutinize each picture.  We photograph each vehicle to the greatest extent so you can feel confident about your purchase.  If you have a question about the Camaro, just give us a call.

numbers

Please note when checking the numbers that not only do the correct stampings and casting numbers appear on the parts, but all of the dates are also chronologically correct.  This means that all of the parts were made and assembled in the correct order.  For example, all of the dates for the individual engine components and the engine casting date should obviously precede the assembly date of the engine because the parts had to be produced before they could be assembled.  All of the parts I checked follow this rule and are dated correctly.

item number description
VIN 1Q87L9L643042 The first digit, "1," indicated the Chevrolet division of GM.  The "Q" is the model level, correct for Z28.  The "87" is the body style, 2-door sport coupe.  The fifth digit is the engine, L, correct for an 350ci car.  The sixth digit, "9," indicates the model year, 199.  The "L" is the plant where the car was produced, Van Nuys.  The last five digits are a sequence number for each plant so this is the 43,042nd Camaro made in Van Nuys for 1979.
Body Build Date 07C "07" is the seventh month of the year and "C" is the third week of the month meaning this Camaro's body build date is the third week of July, 1979.
Engine Code K0607 "K" means the engine was built in the McKinnon Industries plant.  The "06" is the sixth month of year and the "07" is the seventh day of the month meaning the engine was assembled on June 7, 1979.
Suffix Code DRH This is the code for a Camaro with the 350ci engine and an automatic transmission, which is correct for this car.
Engine VIN Stamping 643042 The last 6 digits of the car's VIN, 643042, are stamped on the engine pad meaning this engine is original to this car.
Engine Block Casting Number 3970010 The engine block has the 3970010 casting number.
Engine Block Casting Date 9 E We believe the 9 indicates the year in which in the engine block was cast, which would be 1979,  The "E" would then be the fifth month of the year, May.  So the engine block would have a casting date of May, 1979.
Intake Manifold Casting Number 14007376 The intake manifold is correct with a 14007376 casting number.
Intake Manifold Casting Date E 24 "E" would indicate the month of casting, and "24" would indicated the day of the month.  So the intake would have been cast on May 24.
Distributor 1103353 The distributor is correct with 1103353 stamped on the housing.
Distributor Date Code 9 E 11 The "9" is the last digit of the calendar year, the "E" denotes May, and "11" is the eleventh day of the month meaning the distributor was made on May 11, 1979.  This is correct as it predates the build dates of the engine.
Carburetor Main Body

17059217

The original carburetor has the correct stamping for a 1979 350ci Chevrolet with no a/c and automatic transmission.  The fourth digit, "5," means the carb was built for 1976-79 production run.  The fifth digit,  "9," means it was built for the 1979 model year.  The six digit, "2," indicates that it is a 4BBL carb.  The seventh digit,  "0," means is was built for the Chevrolet division of GM.
Carburetor Date Code 0889 The first three digits, "088" indicate the 88th day of the year.  The last digit, "9" is the year it was produced, 1979.  So the carb  was stamped on March 29, 1979.
Alternator 1102394 The alternator has 1102394 stamped on the housing.
Alternator Date Code 9 F 6 The "9" is the last digit of the calendar year, the "F" denotes June, and "6" is the sixth day of the month meaning the alternator was made on June 6, 1979.
Left Exhaust Manifold 381983 The left exhaust manifold has a 381983 casting number.
Right Exhaust Manifold 348248 The right exhaust manifold has a 348248 casting number.
Steering Box 7812145 The steering box has 7812145 cast into the cover.
Steering Box Date '78 The steering box cover has a "'78" casting indicating 1978, which is correct as it predates the build date of the car.
Transmission Casting Number 8640820 The transmission has 8640820 cast into the main case.
Transmission Casting Date 25.6.79 The transmission has 25.6.79 cast into the main case, which should indicate June 25, 1979.
Starting Stamping 1109065 The starter has a 1109065 stamping
Starter Stamping Date 9 F 8 The "9" is the last digit of the calendar year, the "F" denotes June, and "8" is the eighth day of the month meaning the starter was made on June 8, 1979.
Driver's Window JA "J" is May and "A" is 1979 so this window is original, made in May of 1979.  This is correct as it predates the build date of the car.
Passenger's  Window IA "I" is June and "A" is 1979 so this window is original, made in June of 1979.  This is correct as it predates the build date of the car.
Rear  Window IA "I" is June and "A" is 1979 so this window is original, made in June of 1979.  This is correct as it predates the build date of the car.

condition

Exterior

The Carmine exterior is in excellent award winning condition with amazing paint and decals. The exterior appears to be non restored and in near showroom condition. The way this car shows is a testament to the care this car has received over 34 years of pampered ownership. As one can see in the photos, the paint has an awesome gloss, dazzling shine, and smooth finish. The trim and decals show like new on the car. Often Camaro€™s will have particularly chipped up front ends; this car does not. The low front spoiler, which is very fragile and prone to damage, is in excellent condition as one can see in the photos. Both bumpers are in excellent shape with no flaking paint. The factory Rally wheels are in excellent non restored condition with no curb rash and a great finish. The tires are BF Goodrich and correctly sized at 225/70/15. The only area that shows age is the trim piece between the rear bumper and body, there are specific photos of both sides below.  This part could easily be addressed and is common to all Camaros of this body style, regardless off mileage or wear.  However, in the interest of originally we believe that it should be left alone and preserved as is.  All weather stripping is in like new excellent well preserved condition. Trunk is complete and looks new and fully detailed with spare tire, inflator canister, jack, base, and original trunk mat.  Please note that even the lenses are dated coded and original to the car, there are pictures in the link above.

The Camaro looks just as good in person as it does in the photos.

Window Date Codes

Please note that the side and rear glass on this car is date coded and original as each piece predates the car's body build date of July 1979 (07C). Original glass is a good indication that this car has had no major accident history and never sustained significant damage.

Interior

The original Carmine interior of the Z28 looks utterly splendid and factory new. The original seat covers show no wear in any way and are not faded in any area and have no seam splits or stress cracks. The carpet is also in "like new" condition with no major stains, rips, or holes. The original dash and components look amazing and are in showroom condition, frankly it€™s the best dash, bezel, radio, glovebox, and gauge cluster we have ever seen in person. The original style correct cassette radio sounds amazing and the original speakers still have their speaker enclosure boxes from the factory, which is visible on the trunk photos below. The original AM only radio comes with the sale as well and looks new too. All interior lights and gauges work like new and show no wear at all. The original door panels look excellent with no cracks or splits, and both door pulls are solid and in tact. The headliner is in great shape with no holes or stains and no sagging. The original package tray and speaker grills look great with no warping, fading, or sun damage. The original and correct floor mats, which are pictured below, are almost impossible to find in this excellent original condition. This is the best original interior we have ever seen in person and is a true study of how these cars looked from the factory. This car has not been smoked in; there is no aroma of cigarettes what so ever.

The interior looks just as good in person as it does in the photos.

Mechanical

This Z28 is in excellent mechanical condition and it is ready to be enjoyed. The original numbers matching engine is in great running condition with less than 17,400 miles on the odometer. This Camaro is an exceptional driver that feels great on the road and at highway speeds, especially with the F41 Sport Suspension. There is no smoke when starting or driving the car. It starts right away every time, idles well, and runs excellent. The brakes do not pull and even the emergency brake works as it should. The Exhaust system has been upgraded to dual mufflers with factory styled exhaust exit pipes and looks to be the only deviation from stock in the entire driveline with the catalytic converter replaced with a test pipe. The rear shocks have been replaced, but the factory shocks are still with the car and pictured below. The engine bay looks factory fresh and all original engine components are detailed and in place as they came from the factory. Even all of the small vacuum lines in the engine compartment are routed correctly and still feature the correct and original colored striped and coding. The horn works as do all the interior and exterior lights, all gauges, wipers, and blower for the heat work as they should. You will notice in the video that even the clock still works, lighters, and detailed items such as the "Fasten Seat Belt" lights when the car is fist started. The speedometer, tachometer, odometer, oil pressure, fuel, and battery gauges all work as they should. This Z28 has lots of power and handles amazingly. Not enough can be said as to how much of a pleasure it is to drive this car.

Overall
Condition

Overall, this 1979 Z28 Survivor is in excellent award winning showroom condition. It is a great value and we have it priced to sell. We do not normally talk-up the cars as much as we have with this Camaro, but it is truly one of the nicest F-Body's we have seen. This car turns heads and gets tons of attention wherever it goes. The value of these cars has gone up exponentially in recent years. They are all solid investments for a collector or the average enthusiast. Cars like this are the Barrett Jackson stars of the future. One could easily enjoy this vehicle for several years and sell it for more than the purchase price with minimal effort.

Other sellers are not taking the time to show the car is in such great detail to give you all of the other numbers.  Numbers matching is extremely important in Chevrolet pricing and will become even more important as time passes and this car becomes older and even more rare and desirable.  This information is very valuable and important for pricing.  Any perspective buyer, for any of our vehicles or from other sellers, should ask for all the numbers and information before he or she makes a purchase.

Thank you for looking and please do not hesitate to email or call with any questions.

worldwide shipping

The vast majority of cars sold by Seven Hills Motorcars are shipped across the country or even across the world to their new owners.  Therefore, we are very familiar with the shipping process and glad to help our customers with it.  We are more than happy to assist in having your car transported to anywhere in world.  For our domestic customers in the United States we can handle the entire process in-house without the need or added expense for a shipping broker.  Please feel free to contact us for a shipping quote.
