about the dealership
Seven Hills Motorcars is Cincinnati's premier Corvette specialist and a licensed and registered auto dealer by the State of Ohio.  With many years of focused experience I specialize in 1963 to 1982 Corvettes.  There is no other dealership that can better meet your needs if you would like to buy, sell, or just find out more information about your Corvette.  This is simply a one man operation, and this is not my full time employment.  I do it because I enjoy it.  I am a collector and enthusiast and therefore look for cars that excite me.  I do not purchase at dealer auctions; each car is hand picked by me because it is special or rare to me and because I like it.

vehicle description

Seven Hills Motorcars is extremely proud to offer this absolutely beautiful 1980 Camaro Z28 that is in excellent original condition and priced to sell. This Survivor Z28 has only 43,460 original miles and features the numbers matching original 350 engine, 4-speed close ratio transmission, special F41 Sport Suspension. Throughout the entire F-Body market right now, this is one of the nicest and most desirable Camaros available. All of the desirable options are verified by the original build sheet from the Norwood factory, which is also included with the car.  This Z28 is very solid and shows no signs of rust on body or frame. It looks great, runs awesome, and is fun to drive, especially with the T tops off rowing through the gears. This is an excellent opportunity to own a classic Z28 that is ready to be used and enjoyed at an unbeatable value. One could easily buy this car now and sell it for more than the purchase price in years to come. This Z28 is finished in the beautiful and desirable color combinations of White over Dark Blue standard interior. This is the factory color scheme as verified on the trim tag pictured below. The low original mileage is verified by not only the condition of the car, but also the clear Ohio title stating the mileage as "actual."  Please peruse all of the photos and the list of numbers below to get a true sense of clean, correct, and original this Camaro really is.

The 1980 Z28 came with the extremely popular Z28 hood which included a rear-pointing raised scoop (air induction) with a solenoid operated flap which opened at full throttle, allowing the engine to breathe cooler air.. The 1980 Z28 also offers unique style upper and lower front grill and smaller revised graphics on its lower-door decals. The side scoops were also changed from a louvered design to a flatter one with a single opening.

As a side note, this Camaro is not a dealer auction vehicle.  We hand pick each car after careful inspection.  Our classics come from owners who expect their cars to go to someone that will give the vehicle the same care and attention as they did.  We invite and encourage you to examine the car in person or have the car inspected.  Please take the time to scrutinize each picture.  We photograph each vehicle to the greatest extent so you can feel confident about your purchase.  If you have a question about the Camaro, just give us a call.

numbers

Please note when checking the numbers that not only do the correct stampings and casting numbers appear on the parts, but all of the dates are also chronologically correct.  This means that all of the parts were made and assembled in the correct order.  For example, all of the dates for the individual engine components and the engine casting date should obviously precede the assembly date of the engine because the parts had to be produced before they could be assembled.  All of the parts I checked follow this rule and are dated correctly.

item number description
VIN 1P87LAN541888 The first digit, "1," indicated the Chevrolet division of GM.  The "P" is the model level, correct for Z28.  The "87" is the body style, 2-door sport coupe.  The fifth digit is the engine, L, correct for an 350ci car.  The sixth digit, "A," indicates the model year, 1980.  The "N" is the plant where the car was produced, Norwood.  The last five digits are a sequence number for each plant so this is the 41,888th Camaro made in Norwood for 1980.
Body Build Date 01E "01" is the first month of the year and "E" is the fifth week of the month meaning this Camaro's body build date is the fifth week of January, 1980.
Engine Code T0215 "T" means the engine was build in the Tonawanda, NY plant.  The "02" is the second month of year and the "15" is the fifteenth day of the month meaning the engine was assembled on February 15, 1980.
Suffix Code CEU This is the code for a Camaro with the 350ci engine and manual transmission, which is correct for this car.
Engine VIN Stamping 541888 The last 6 digits of the car's VIN, 541888, are stamped on the engine pad meaning this engine is original to this car.
Engine Block Casting Number 14010209 The engine block has the correct 14010209 casting number.
Engine Block Casting Date A 8 80 "A" is January, "8" is the eighth day of the month, and "80" is 1980 so the engine block was cast on January 8, 1980.  Which is correct as it predates the assembly date of the engine.
Intake Manifold Casting Number 14014440 The intake manifold is correct with a 14014440 casting number.
Intake Manifold Casting Date A 31 0 "A" is January, "31" is the thirty-first day of the month, and "0" is the last digit of the calendar year so the intake was cast on January 8, 1980.  Which is correct as it predates the assembly date of the engine.
Distributor 1103284 The distributor is correct with 1103284 stamped on the housing.
Distributor Date Code 0 B 6 The "0" is the last digit of the calendar year, the "B" denotes February, and "6" is the sixth day of the month meaning the distributor was made on February 6, 1980.  This is correct as it predates the build dates of the engine.
Carburetor Main Body

17080207

The original carburetor has the correct stamping for a 1980 350ci Chevroelt.  The fourth digit, "8," means the carb was built for 1980's production run.  The fifth digit,  "0," means it was built for the 1980 model year.  The six digit, "2," indicates that it is a 4BBL carb.  The seventh digit,  "0," means is was built for the Chevrolet division of GM.  The last digit, "7," means it was intended for use in a manual transmission car such as this.
Carburetor Date Code 0350 The first three digits, "035" indicate the 35th day of the year.  The last digit, "0" is the year it was produced, 1980.  So the carb  was stamped on February 4, 1980.
Alternator 1103162 The alternator has 1103162 stamped on the housing.
Alternator Date Code 9 J 28 The "9" is the last digit of the calendar year, the "J" denotes Septmeber, and "28" is the twenty-eighth day of the month meaning the alternator was made on September 28, 1979.  This is correct as it predates the build dates of the engine.
Windshield YA "Y" is October and "A" is 1979 so this window is original, made in October of 1979.  This is correct as it predates the build date of the car.
Driver's Window NZ "N" is January and "Z" is 1980 so this window is original, made in January of 1980.  This is correct as it predates the build date of the car.

Rear  Window VA "V" is December and "A" is 1979 so this window is original, made in December of 1979.  This is correct as it predates the build date of the car.

condition

Exterior

The white exterior is in excellent well preserved condition. Paint and decals are original and show very well.  As one can see in the photos, the paint has a nice gloss, good shine, and smooth finish. Often many Camaro's will have particularly chipped up front ends, this car does not, both bumpers are in nice condition with no spider webbing or flaking paint. There are no major imperfections that have been intentionally excluded from the photos. There are some very small blemishes, very minor dings, and light crazing that were too small to faint up in photos, but nothing that is really noticeable from just five feet away. Tires are like new sized 235/60/15 and the original rally wheels and center caps are excellent shape and shine nicely.  T tops are in great working condition and all weather stripping is in great usable condition. The t-tops storage bags are pictured below and also included with the car. The trunk is complete and nicely detailed with space saver spare tire, original trunk mat, jack and accessories.

The Camaro looks just as good in person as it does in the photos.

Window Date Codes

Please note that ALL of glass on this car, even both T-Tops, is date coded and original as each piece predates the car's body build date of January 1980 (01E). Original glass is a good indication that this car has had no major accident history and never sustained significant damage.

Interior

The original dark blue standard interior of this Z28 looks splendid. The seats look great with no rips, split seems, or signs of excessive wear. Please note that these appear to be the original seats, not some cheap aftermarket replacement. The original carpet is also in excellent condition with no major stains, tears, or holes. The original dash is in good condition with one small crack, which is visible in the photos, but no fading, or sun damage. All interior lights and gauges work as they should, with the obvious exception of the clock. The original door panels look nice with no cracks or splits, and both door pulls are solid and in tact. Headliner and package tray have been newly replaced and are in excellent condition. This car has not been smoked in; there is no aroma what so ever. Z28 interiors are not know to wear well and the excellent condition of this original interior is a testament to the meticulous care this car has received throughout its life.

The interior looks just as good in person as it does in the photos.

Mechanical

This Z28 is in excellent mechanical condition and all of the accessories work. Much care has gone into keeping this car in excellent original condition and an exceptional driver that feels great on the road and highway speeds, especially with the F41 Sport Suspension. There is no smoke when starting or driving the car. It starts right away every time, idles well, and runs excellent. The car shifts well and the clutch feels good. The brakes are responsive and do not pull to one side or the other. Also, the engine is clean and nicely detailed as one can see from the photos. The horn works as do all the interior and exterior lights, all gauges(except clock), wipers, and blower for the heater. The speedometer, tachometer, odometer, oil pressure, fuel, and battery gauges all work as they should. Please note that thankfully this car has not been molested with the catalytic converter and all the original smog equipment still in place.  There is the faint noise of a small exhaust leak audible at idle.  Even all of the small vacuum lines in the engine compartment are routed correctly and still feature the correct and original colored striped and coding.  Not enough can be said as to how much of a pleasure it is to drive this car, especially with the 4-speed transmission and t-tops out on a beautiful day.

Overall
Condition

Overall, Overall, this 1980 Z28 is in excellent well preserved original condition with only 43,460 original miles. Numbers matching is extremely important in Chevrolet pricing, especially with rare options like the 4-Speed transmission.  The originality, the documentation, and the great extent to which the numbers match make this car especially important and hard to duplicate. It is a great value and we have it priced to sell. This car turns heads and gets tons of attention wherever it goes. The value of these second generation "F-Body" cars has gone up exponentially in recent years. They are all solid investments for a collector or the average enthusiast. Cars like this are the Barrett Jackson stars of the future. One could easily enjoy this vehicle for several years and sell it for more than the purchase price with minimal effort.
