about the dealership
Seven Hills Motorcars is Cincinnati's premier Corvette specialist and a licensed and registered auto dealer by the State of Ohio.  With many years of focused experience I specialize in 1963 to 1982 Corvettes.  There is no other dealership that can better meet your needs if you would like to buy, sell, or just find out more information about your Corvette.  This is simply a one man operation, and this is not my full time employment.  I do it because I enjoy it.  I am a collector and enthusiast and therefore look for cars that excite me.  I do not purchase at dealer auctions; each car is hand picked by me because it is special or rare to me and because I like it.

vehicle description

Seven Hills Motorcars is extremely proud to offer this completely restored and documented NCRS Top Flight 1957 270hp Corvette.  This Corvette received a complete nut and bolt frame off restoration in 1992.  Photos documenting the process are included below.  Every number that I have checked on this car is correct in terms of both application and chronology.  Though Chevrolet did yet not stamp the vin number of the car on the engine in 1957, the other stampings, casting numbers, and most importantly casting dates match.  The car has been used sparingly since it was restored.  The odometer shows the mileage at 6,340 which I believe to be correct since the restoration.  The most previous owner of the car was an avid and notable collector with many Corvettes, Ferraris, and other distinguished cars in his collection.  The quality of this car could not nearly be duplicated for anything near the asking price.

As a side note, this Corvette is not a dealer auction vehicle.  We hand pick each car after careful inspection.  Our cars come from owners who expect their cars to go to someone that will give the vehicle the same care and attention as they did.  We invite and encourage you to examine the car in person or have the car inspected.  Please take the time to examine each picture.  We photograph each vehicle to the greatest extent so you can feel confident about bidding.  If you have a question about the Corvette, just give us a call.

numbers

Please note when checking the numbers that not only do the correct stampings and casting numbers appear on the parts, but all of the dates are also chronologically correct.  This means that all of the parts were made and assembled in the correct order.  For example, all of the dates for the individual engine components and the engine casting date should obviously precede the assembly date of the engine because the parts had to be produced before they could be assembled.  All of the parts I checked follow this rule and are dated correctly.

item number description*
Engine Code F I I I 4 "F" means the engine was build in the Flint, MI plant.  "I I" corresponds to the eleventh month of the year and "I 4" is the 14th day of the month.  This means the engine was assembled on November 14, 1956.
Suffix Code EG This is correct and means the motor was intended for an 283 ci 270 hp engine with two four barrel carbs, manual transmission, and hi-lift cam.
Engine Block Casting Number 3731548 The engine block has the correct 3731548 casting number.
Engine Block Casting Date K 8 6 "K" is November, "8" is the eighth day of the month, and "6" is 1956 so the engine block was cast on November 8, 1956.  This is correct as it predates the engine code.
Distributor 1110891 The distributor is correct with 1110891stamped on the plate.
Distributor Date Code 6 K 9 "6" is 1956, "K" is October, and "9" is the ninth day of the month meaning the distributor is dated October 9, 1956.

Exhaust Manifold, Right 3733976 The right exhaust manifold is correct with a 3733976casting number.

Carburetor, Rear 2614 S The rear carburetor has the correct 2614S tag attached to it.
Carburetor Date Code, Front and Rear H 6 "H" is August and "6" is 1956 meaning the carburetor is dated August 1956.
Carburetor Air Horn Casting Number, Front and Rear 6-1299 Both the front and rear carbs have the correct "6-1299" number cast into the air horn of the carburetor.
Carburetor Main Body Casting Number, Front and Rear 0-049 Both the front and rear carbs have the correct "0-049" number cast into the main body of the carburetor.
Generator 1102043 The Generator has the correct 1102043 stamped into the plate.
Generator Date Code 6 K 15 "6" is 1956, "K" is October, and "15" is the fifteenth day of the month meaning the generator is from October 15, 1956.
Windshield FV "F" is September and "V" is 1956 so this window is dated September of 1956.
Driver's Side Glass FV "F" is September and "V" is 1956 so this window is dated September of 1956.
Passenger Side Glass FV "F" is September and "V" is 1956 so this window is dated September of 1956.

condition

Exterior

The Cascade Green exterior paint is in wonderful condition.  The paint has a smooth finish and a brilliant gloss.  There are no major scratches, scrapes, or other blemishes in the paint that have been excluded from the photos.  The chrome parts are in awesome condition as is the stainless and other bright work.  There are very few small blemishes around the car that were too small to show in in photos, but nothing that is very noticeable from 5 feet away.  The wheels and hub caps and are in excellent condition with no dents or curb rash.  The tires look like new.  The frame and everything else on the car is totally solid.  There are absolutely no rust issues with the car whatsoever.  The underside of the car is as clean as one would expect from a 6,000 mile car that has never seen rain or other adverse weather.

The car looks just as good in person as it does in the photos.

Interior

The Beige interior of the corvette is in superb condition.  The entire interior was freshened when the car was restored.  The seat covers look almost brand new with absolutely no splits, tears, or stains.  The seat is not worn through in the typical places, such as where the driver gets in and out of the car.  The carpet is in excellent condition and looks virtually brand new.  There are no rips, holes, or damage in the carpet at all.  The door panels are in terrific condition and fit tightly to the doors.  The dash looks awesome, with no cracks, scratches, or sun damage of any kind.  The car has never been smoked in, there is no ash in the ashtray or aroma what so ever.  The trunk, complete with spare and mat, is in virtually new condition as well.

The interior looks just as good in person as it does in the photos.

Mechanical

This car is in excellent mechanical condition.  All of the mechanical items on this car has seen very limited use since the car received a full mechanical restoration.  The car starts right away every time.  It runs well and idles well.  There is no smoke when starting or driving the car.  Everything on this car works as it should, all of the lights and gauges work, the horn works, and even the radio can pick up and play stations.  This Corvette has plenty of power and is very fast for a 1950's era auto.  The transmission is solid and the clutch feels very good.  The transmission is a 3-speed, which is correct for the car.  4-speed transmissions were not available until later in the 1957 model year.  The 3-speed was only manual transmission available when this car was built in late 1956.  Not enough can be said as to how much of a pleasure it is to drive this car, especially with the top off on a nice day.

Overall
Condition

Overall the vehicle is in fantastic condition.  The previous owner was meticulous about his caring for the vehicle.  He stated that the car was also certified Bloomington Gold and there is mention of that in the paperwork, but I do not have the certificate.  I do have the original NCRS Top Flight certificate.  Numbers matching is extremely important in Corvette pricing, and as you can see this car is very correct.  The Solid Axle years have not had the detrimental over inflation that the mid year Corvettes have suffered from recently.  They are all solid investments for a collector.  One could enjoy this vehicle for several years and sell it for more than your purchase price.  This time of year in this economic situation is about the best time ever to buy a car like this.
