vehicle description

Seven Hills Motorcars is exceptionally proud to offer this spectacular, completely numbers matching, 1960 Corvette in beautiful condition with only 59,790 original miles. It looks greats, runs great, and is an nice driver that is ready to be enjoyed. This Corvette is priced to sell, always turns heads, and gets a TON of attention going down the road. The market on these first generation solid axle Corvettes is red hot right now, this especially true for the 1958-1960 models. The car is finished in the beautiful and highly desirable color combination of Ermine White over Red. Usually, correct and original color combinations cannot be verified on first generation Corvettes because they did not come with trim tag from the factory. Amazingly, this Corvette comes with the original window sticker from 1959 that verifies this gorgeous color combination as original. The very low original mileage is verified not only by the condition of the car, but also the ownership history and clear Ohio title, pictured below, showing the mileage as "Actual." Please peruse all of the photos, numbers, video, and information below to get a true sense of how nice, clean, and correct this Corvette really is.

We purchased this Corvette from a local gentleman who had owned the car for over 40 years, since 1974; a copy of his title from 1974 is included with the car. He was a true Corvette enthusiast with some other newer Corvettes in his collection. During his ownership the car was garaged the entire time and never used as a daily driver. It was only driven sparingly on nice days and never saw rain, salt, or winter roads. He even took the time and effort to run all of the numbers on the car back in the 1970's before all of the modern publications were available with all the numbers readily available for reference. He put together an ownership board with the original documents to the car, which is pictured below. Remarkably, the original window sticker has survived all these years and is pictured below. A window sticker is very rare to have with a first generation Corvette. Also included with the car are the original owners manual and "Owners Protection Policy" booklet that the original owner received with the car new. The car was sold new at King Chevrolet here in Cincinnati. The gentleman we purchased the car from said that he bought the car from the original owner in 1974 so that means this is only a two owner car. The actual mileage reading on the title is particularly significant on this car since it has always resided and been registered in the State of Ohio meaning that mileage or anything else on the title could never have been "washed" or changed during transfers from state to state.

As a side note, this Corvette is not a dealer auction vehicle. We hand pick each car after careful inspection. Our Corvettes come from owners who expect their cars to go to someone that will give the vehicle the same care and attention as they did. We invite and encourage you to examine the car in person or have the car inspected. Please take the time to scrutinize each picture. We photograph each vehicle to the greatest extent so you can feel confident about your purchase. If you have a question about the Corvette, just give us a call.

numbers

Please note when checking the numbers that not only do the correct stampings and casting numbers appear on the parts, but all of the dates are also chronologically correct. This means that all of the parts were made and assembled in the correct order. For example, all of the dates for the individual engine components and the engine casting date should obviously precede the assembly date of the engine because the parts had to be produced before they could be assembled. All of the parts I checked follow this rule and are dated correctly.

condition

Exterior

The Ermine White exterior is in very nice driver condition. As one can see in the photos the finish has dazzling gloss and deep shine. The chrome bumpers and other bight work on the car shows very well. The wheels and hubcaps are in excellent condition with a brilliant finish and no curb rash. The original style white wall tires look amazing on the car and are correct as per RPO Code 290 shown on the window sticker. They are the period correct bias ply construction, which is noticeable on the road when compared to radials. The black soft-top is in terrific shape and the rear window is not yellowed or foggy. Black is also the correct color for the top as indicated on the window sticker. The top itself operates quite well and latches easily relative to other C1 Corvettes. The previous owner said that he had the car painted in 1976 so the paintjob does have some years on it. It has a nice patina with some light checking, small cracks, and other blemishes due to age. There are close up photos of some of the flaws below and some other faint imperfections around the car too small to show up in photos, but nothing that is really noticeable from about five or ten feet away. As one can see in the many photos of the underside of the car, it is correct, original, unmolested, and solid. Please note that this Corvette still has its original "T3" headlamps for all four bulbs. They are the correct original lamps, not the aftermarket replacements with the DOT markings.

This Corvette looks just as good in person as it does in the photos.

Interior

The Red interior of the Corvette looks great. The seats look lovely with no holes, splits, or excessive wear. The interior was freshened up by the previous owner in the 1980's and has held up very well since. This included new seat skins and new carpet. The carpet is in excellent condition with no stains, rips, or holes. The chrome and other brightwork inside the car has a terrific finish and looks great overall. The dash and console are in nice condition with no fading or sun damage. There are a few dents on the dash insert above the package tray. The radio is correct, original, and most importantly the dash has never been cut or modified for and aftermarket installation. The door panels are in good condition, fit to the door well, and the door pulls are solid and have no cracks on the arm pad. The excellent condition of this interior with so many years on it is a testament to the meticulous care this car has received throughout it's life.

The trunk is in magnificent condition, It is totally complete with trunk mat, liner, spare tire, the plywood spare tire cover that still has the original decals, lug wrench, jack, and jack handle, which are all stowed correctly in place. There is a crack in the plywood cover.

The interior looks just as good in person as it does in the photos.

Mechanical

This Corvette seems to be in very good mechanical condition. The car starts right away every time, runs well, and idles well. The car drives nice for what it is. In the video below one can see the car accelerating on the highway up to about 70mph, shifting thought all the gears, braking to stoplight, accelerating away, and going through some curves. Please note that it shifts properly, there are no strange vibrations, and the car performs quite well overall. There is no blue smoke when starting or driving the car. The brakes are responsive. Please keep in mind that these are period manual drum brakes with bias ply tires so this 55 year old car will not perform like a modern Corvette. The transmission shifts well and does not pop out of gear. The clutch feels good. This Corvette has plenty of power and is quite fast. Also, the engine compartment is beautifully clean and detailed as one can see in the photos. The correct original air cleaner and all of the upper and lower ignition shielding is still in place.

The horn works as do all the exterior lights, interior lights, and wipers. The blower for the heater work on both low and high settings. Also, the vent selector works properly and blows air from defroster and heater vents correctly. The original "Wonderbar" radio works, and even the signal seeking function operates, but does not always stop at stations. It does get reception and play stations, but it is pretty quiet. All of the gauges work with the exception of the tach as one can see below; even the clock still works. The dash lights work as one can see in the video. This Corvette and has been very well maintained and lovingly cared for over the years. Not enough can be said as to how much of a pleasure it is to drive this car, especially with top down on a beautiful day.

Overall
Condition

Overall, this 1960 Corvette is in great driver condition. Numbers matching is extremely important in Corvette pricing and as one can see above this car is very original and correct. We have this Corvette prices to sell. In my opinion and based on our experience the "Solid Axle" cars are some of the most collectible and hottest in the entire Corvette market right now. This is especially true for the 1958-1960 models. The value of these cars has gone up exponentially in recent years. They are all solid investments for a collector.

The originality, matching numbers, documentation, long ownership history, and beautiful color combination make this car especially important and difficult to duplicate. This Corvette always gets a ton of attention driving down the road. It is very apparent that the vehicle has been well taken care of by its previous owners. One could easily enjoy this vehicle for several years and sell it for more than the purchase price with minimal effort.

Thank you for looking and please email or call with any questions.
