vehicle description

Seven Hills Motorcars is proud to offer this very low mileage completely restored and documented 1968 Corvette Coupe with the original numbers matching 327/350 L79 engine.  This Corvette has been driven just over 47,500 original miles since new in 1968.  The car is in it's original color scheme International Blue (978) over Medium Blue Vinyl (414) interior as indicated by the trim pad, which is pictured.  The original build sheet is pictured below and included with the car showing that it was ordered new with the L79 engine and the same color scheme and options.  The original Protect-O-Plate is also pictured and included with the car.  This Corvette was order new in May of 1968 near Cincinnati, OH.  Since then the car has only seen 4 owners.  There is ownership history for this car back to brand new with the name of all 4 owners.  The most previous owner, Mr. Gruenwald, purchased the car approximately 12 years ago.  He immediately embarked on a full nut and bolt restoration of the car.  He completed all the work himself about 4 years later.  In the past eight years since the car was completed the car has been used sparingly, kept indoors always, and received excellent care and maintenance.

"All Different All Over"  That is a quote from the 1968 Corvette sales brochure.  Corvette when through a major body change in 1968 to "Mako Shark" body style.  The new design was destined to become a classic.  Corvettes for the next forty years, including the C4, C5 and the current C6 generation, would follow the same basic lines and design principles to be recognizable as a relative of the 1968 trend setter.  For the first time the coupe featured removable roof panels (T-Tops) and a "pop out" rear window.  Wheel width increased to seven inches.  1968 was the first Corvette without side vent windows and the last with the ignition switch on the instrument panel.  For better weight distribution the batter was moved from the engine bay to a compartment inside behind the seat.

As a side note, this Corvette is not a dealer auction vehicle.  We hand pick each car after careful inspection.  Our cars come from owners who expect their cars to go to someone that will give the vehicle the same care and attention as they did.  We invite and encourage you to examine the car in person or have the car inspected.  Please take the time to examine each picture.  We photograph each vehicle to the greatest extent so you can feel confident about bidding.  If you have a question about the Corvette, just give us a call.

condition

Exterior

The International Blue exterior paint is in outstanding driver condition.  This car is in it's original color as indicated by the trim pad number, 987, and the original build sheet.  There are no major scratches, scrapes, or cracks in the paint.  The paint’s finish has a brilliant gloss.  Often many corvettes will have particularly chipped up front ends, this car does not.  The underside of the front end is in great condition.  This part of the car is very fragile and a testament to the meticulous care this car has received throughout it's life.  There are some spots in the paint that were too small to show in in photos, but nothing that is noticeable from 5 feet away.  The chrome bumpers are in awesome condition as is the stainless and bright work.  The tires look like new.  The wheels are original to this car as indicated by the date codes on the rims and are in excellent condition.  There are no dents or curb rash on the beauty rings.  All of the side glass on this car is original as indicated by the date codes, which is a great indication of no collision damage.  The frame and everything else on the car is very solid.  There are absolutely no rust issues with the car what so ever.

Interior

The Medium Blue interior of the corvette is in superb condition.  This car is an original medium blue vinyl car as indicated by the trim pad number, 414, and the original build sheet.  The entire interior was freshened when the car was restored.  Even the parts that are original in the interior are very nice since the car only has 47,500 original miles.  The seats look almost brand new with absolutely no splits, tears, or stains.  The seat is not worn through in the typical places, such as where the driver gets in and out of the car.  The carpet is in excellent condition and looks virtually brand new.  This includes the rear carpet with is often neglected.  There are no rips, holes, or damage in the carpet at all.  The door panels appear to be original and in terrific condition.  The dash looks awesome, with no splitting or sun damage of any kind.  Most of the fiber optic light system works.  The only item inside that is not functional is the clock.  The interior looks just as god in person as it does in the photos.

Mechanical

This car is in extraordinary mechanical condition, there are no issues at all with this Corvette.  All of the mechanical items on this car has seen very limited use since the car received a full mechanical restoration 8 years ago.  The car starts right away every time.  There is no smoke when starting or driving the car.  Everything on this car works as it should, the headlights go up and down with the headlight switch and the vacuum override switch, the wiper door also works correctly with both switches, all of the gauges work, all of the interior and exterior lights work.  This Corvette has plenty of power and is very fast.  The transmission is solid and the car shifts very tightly.  The clutch feels very good.  The car drives flawlessly, and brakes straight.  It is very tight on the road and at highway speeds.  Not enough can be said as to how much of a pleasure it is to drive this car.  I have personally driven and enjoyed this car all summer with absolutely no issues at all.  The frame is in excellent condition with no rust and I have seen no evidence of corrosion around the windshield and "A" pillar.

Overall
Condition

Overall the vehicle is in gorgeous condition.  The previous owner was meticulous about his caring for the vehicle.  Numbers matching is extremely important in Corvette pricing, and as you can see this car very original and correct.  The value of these cars has gone up exponentially in the past 10 years.  The "Chrome Bumper" years have not had the detrimental over inflation that the mid year Corvettes have suffered from recently.  They are all solid investments for a collector.  Cars like this are the Barrett Jackson stars of the future.  One could enjoy this vehicle for several years and sell it for more than your purchase price.  This time of year in this economic situation is about the best time ever to buy a car like this.  Thank you for looking and please email or call with any questions.
