vehicle description

Seven Hills Motorcars is glad to offer this number matching 1968 Corvette Coupe in great driver condition. This Corvette looks great, runs awesome, and is a spectacular driver that feels great out on the road. It is finished in the beautiful color combination of International Blue over Medium Blue Vinyl. We have the car priced to sell and are offering an excellent opportunity to own a very desirable Corvette at an unbeatable value. One could easily buy this car now and sell it for more than the purchase price in years to come as the market on C3 "chrome bumper" Corvettes from 1968 to 1972 is absolutely red hot right now and on the rise. Please peruse all of the photos, video, numbers, and other information below to get a true sense of how nice this Corvette really is.

This Corvette is "Numbers Matching" meaning that the engine that is in the car now is the same one that was installed in the car new at the factory. There is a photo below of the engine pad with a "424683" stamping showing the last six digits of the car's VIN. The transmission is also original with the last six digits of the VIN stamped on the main case and pictured below.

We purchased this Corvette from a gentleman who had owned the car for over 15 years. During his ownership he said that he had the original engine rebuilt, had all new brakes with new lines and calipers installed, all new suspension with new bushings, refreshed the interior, and about 10 years ago had the car painted.

As a side note, this Corvette is not a dealer auction vehicle.  We hand pick each car after careful inspection.  Our Corvettes come from owners who expect their car to go to someone that will give the vehicle the same care and attention as they did.  We invite and encourage you to examine the car in person or have the car inspected.  Please take the time to scrutinize each picture.  We photograph each vehicle to the greatest extent so you can feel confident about your purchase.  If you have a question about the Corvette, just give us a call.

numbers

Please note when checking the numbers that not only do the correct stampings and casting numbers appear on the parts, but all of the dates are also chronologically correct. This means that all of the parts were made and assembled in the correct order. For example, all of the dates for the individual engine components and the engine casting date should obviously precede the assembly date of the engine because the parts had to be produced before they could be assembled. All of the parts I checked follow this rule and are dated correctly.

condition

Exterior

The International Blue exterior is in decent driver condition. As one can see in the photos the finish has fine gloss and deep shine. However, once can also see in the photos that the paint does have some checking and cracking. The body itself is in good shape and the cracks are just cosmetic and in the paint. The wheels and center caps are in good condition with a great finish. Please note that it has the correct 4 clip beauty rings, not the cheap foreign made replacements. The underside of the car looks very clean. The frame is totally appears to be solid with some repair in the typical area around the "key hole" front of the rear tires. We have included specific photos of that spot as well as many other photos of the underside to show how nice it looks.

Interior

The Bright Blue interior of the Corvette is in very good condition. The seats are in great shape and look just in person as they do in the photos with no rips, split seams, or excessive wear. The carpet is also in great condition with no stains, tears, or holes. This includes the rear carpet, which is often neglected. The console is in good shape, but there are some cracks in the dash. The door panels are in terrific shape with no spits or cracks in the usual spot where the driver's elbow sits. The door pulls are solid and intact. The radio works and gets good reception. Most importantly the radio is Corvette specific unit made just fort his car so the dash has never been cut or modified. The jack and jack handle are still with car and stored correctly in the storage compartment behind the passenger seat, and the spare is also still with the car. This Corvette has never been smoked in, there are no burns marks and no aroma of cigarettes. Pleas note that the seats have been recovered and there is not much space between the seat and the bottom of the steering wheel so I would suggest any perspective buyer make sure they fit in the car if possible.

Mechanical

This Corvette seems to be in good mechanical condition. The car is a awesome driver that feels nice the road and at highway speeds. The previous owner stated that he had the engine rebuilt and it starts right away every time, idles well, and runs great. In the video below one can observe the car accelerating on the highway up to about 70mph, shifting through all the gears, braking to stoplight, and going through some curves. Please note that it drives smooth and the car performs quite well overall. It runs cool and does not overheat. There is no blue smoke when starting or driving the car. The brakes are responsive and do not pull to one side or the other. The transmission does not pop out of gear and the clutch feels good. The gauge shows that the engine makes great oil pressure. Also, the engine compartment is beautifully clean and detailed as one can see in the photos.

The horn works as do all the indicators, exterior lights, and wipers. The entire vacuum system for the headlights and wiper door works from both their respective switches on the dash and the override switches. There complete operation from both switches can be observed in the video. All of the gauges work with the obvious exception of the clock. The speedometer works, but the odometer does not. Some of the fiber optics work. The shifter works, but is a bit finicky and could use some improvement. The blower for the heater works on all speeds. Not enough can be said as to how much of a pleasure it is to drive this car, especially with the 4-Speed transmission and the T-Tops out on a beautiful day.

A note on the fiber optic light monitoring system. We consistently receive many questions about the purpose of this system; exactly what it is and what it does. The sole and main idea behind the fiber optic light monitoring system is to simply confirm that all of the exterior lights, headlights, indicators, tail lights, etc., are working and to make the driver aware of a a burned out bulb. Each lamp on the outside of the car has an actual fiber optic cable the runs to an indicator on the center console. There are nine small indicators on the console and each has its own finer optic cable. When the bulb goes on the light travels through the fiber optic cable and illuminates the corresponding indicator on the console. If someone does not remember to plug the cable end into the lamp housing, does any work to the center console, or if there is a break in a connection or anywhere along the cable, that indicator no longer works. As one can image, over time this is very common.

Overall Condition

Overall, this 1968 Corvette is in nice driver condition. Numbers matching is extremely important in Corvette pricing and as one can see, this car is quite correct. In my opinion and based on our experience the "Chrome Bumper" cars from 1968-1972 are the most collectible and hottest in the entire Corvette market right now. This Corvette always gets a ton of attention driving down the road. The prices of C3 Corvettes have increased drastically over the past years. They are secure and wise investments for a collector. One could easily enjoy this vehicle for several years and sell it for more than the purchase price with minimal effort.

Thank you for looking and please do not hesitate to email or call with any questions.
