about the dealership
Seven Hills Motorcars is Cincinnati's premier Corvette specialist and a licensed and registered auto dealer by the State of Ohio.  With many years of focused experience I specialize in 1957 to 1982 Corvettes.  There is no other dealership that can better meet your needs if you would like to buy, sell, or just find out more information about your Corvette.  This is simply a one man operation, and this is not my full time employment.  I do it because I enjoy it.  I am a collector and enthusiast and therefore look for cars that excite me.  I do not purchase at dealer auctions; each car is hand picked by me because it is special or rare to me and because I like it.

vehicle description

Seven Hills Motorcars is very proud to offer this beautiful 1968 Corvette in excellent condition with a 4-speed transmission and factory a/c.  We have this car priced to sell.  This Corvette is virtually 100% turn key.  The car looks and drives awesome, needs nothing, and is ready to be used and enjoyed.  It is finished in one of the most desirable color combinations of bright red over black.  The low mileage is supported by not only the condition of the car, but also the clear Ohio title, pictured below, showing the mileage as "actual."  Please peruse all of the photos below to get a true sense of how clean and nice this Corvette really is.

"All Different All Over"  That is a quote from the 1968 Corvette sales brochure.  Corvette when through a major body change in 1968 to "Mako Shark" body style.  The new design was destined to become a classic.  Corvettes for the next forty years, including the C4, C5 and the current C6 generation, would follow the same basic lines and design principles to be recognizable as a relative of the 1968 trend setter.  For the first time the coupe featured removable roof panels (T-Tops) and a "pop out" rear window.  Wheel width increased to seven inches.  1968 was the first Corvette without side vent windows and the last with the ignition switch on the instrument panel.  For better weight distribution the batter was moved from the engine bay to a compartment inside behind the seat.

As a side note, this Corvette is not a dealer auction vehicle.  We hand pick each car after careful inspection.  Our Corvettes come from owners who expect their cars to go to someone that will give the vehicle the same care and attention as they did.  We invite and encourage you to examine the car in person or have the car inspected.  Please take the time to scrutinize each picture.  We photograph each vehicle to the greatest extent so you can feel confident about your purchase.  If you have a question about the Corvette, just give us a call.

condition

Exterior

The bright red exterior is in beautiful driver condition.  As one can see in the photos the finish has dazzling gloss and smooth glass-like finish.  The chrome bumpers and other bight work on the car look great with no notable rust, pitting, or cloudiness.  Often Corvettes will have particularly chipped up front ends, this car does not.  The underside of the front end, a very fragile part of the car, is in great condition as evidenced by the photos.  The wheels look great and have absolutely no curb rash on the beauty rings.  There are no major imperfections that have been excluded from the photos.  There are some small blemishes that were too faint to show up in photos, but nothing that is really noticeable from five or ten feet away.  The car exhibits good body panel fit for a Corvette as one car see in the photos.  The tires are almost brand new and show virtually no wear.

The car looks just as good in person as it does in the photos.

Window Date Codes

Windshield: XX - The first "X" denotes February and the second "X" denotes 1968 meaning this piece of glass was made in February of 1968.

Driver's: GX - "G" denotes April and "X" denotes 1968 meaning this piece of glass was made in April of 1968.

Passenger:
GX - "G" denotes April and "X" denotes 1968 meaning this piece of glass was made in April of 1968.

Rear: LX -
"L" denotes March and "X" denotes 1968 meaning this piece of glass was made in March of 1968.

Please note that ALL of the glass on this car is date coded and original as each piece predates the build date of April 30, 1968.  This include the "Astro Ventilation" door glass and even the removable rear window.  Also, I took a specific photo of the small rock chip repair on the windshield.  I intentionally had the chip repaired and did not have the windshield replaced as I thought it would be better for the car to retain the original windshield.  Original glass is a good indication that this car has had no major accident history and never sustained significant damage.

Interior

The black interior of the Corvette is also in fantastic condition.  The seats show virtually no wear.  They look in person just as they do in the photos, with no slits, tears, or split seams.  They are not worn in the typical areas such as where the driver gets in and out.  The carpet is in like new condition as well with no stains, rips, or holes This includes the rear carpet which is often neglected.  The dash and console are in great condition with no cracks or sun fading at all.  The door panels are in great shape with no splits or tears.  The aftermarket radio works well and sounds much better than the stock radio ever did.  Most importantly, the radio is application specific model made just for this era Corvette so the console was not cut or modified for the installation.  The original pedal pads are not excessively worn and, as one can see from the pictures, show normal wear for a car with this mileage.

The interior looks just as good in person as it does in the photos.

Mechanical

This car is in nice mechanical condition and is a brilliant driver.  It is tight on the road and at highway speeds.  Everything on the car works.  The brakes are responsive and do not pull to one side or the other.  The car has a 3970010 block, which was used in Corvettes from 1969-1979.  It starts right away every time and runs well.  This Corvette has plenty of power and it is very fast.  There is no smoke when starting or driving the car.  The entire vacuum system for the headlights and wipers works, including the vacuum override switches.  The horn works as do the headlights, interior and exterior lights, and wipers.  Even the a/c blows cold.  All of the gauges work with the obvious exception of the clock.  Most of the fiber optic system works.  Not enough can be said as to how much of a pleasure it is to drive this car, especially with the 4-speed and t-tops out on a beautiful day.

Overall
Condition

Overall the vehicle is in outstanding condition.  The 1968-72 "Chrome Bumper" Corvettes are the Barrett Jackson stars of the future.  The 1963-1967 cars have hit their peak and have actually come down in value recently, the Chrome Bumper Corvettes are beyond a doubt one of the most sound and secure ventures one could make into the classic car market.  One could enjoy this vehicle for several years and sell it for more than your purchase price.  This Corvette always turns heads and gets a ton of attention going down the road.
