vehicle description

Seven Hills Motorcars is especially proud to offer this beautiful, completely restored, 1971 big block Corvette Convertible in immaculate condition with almost 500 horsepower and over 570 pound feet of torque. The engine was built to exceed stock LS6 big block performance and specifications. The car looks amazing, runs exceptionally well, and is an awesome driver that is ready to be enjoyed. It loaded with highly desirable options like air conditioning, power steering, power brakes, and of course the big block engine. This Corvette is priced to sell, always turns heads, and gets a TON of attention going down the road. The market on these "chrome bumper" Corvettes is red hot right now. The car is finished in the beautiful and highly desirable color combination of Red over Black. There is no way this car could be duplicated with this level of quality for anything near our asking price. This Corvette has basically been completely restored and is just as clean underneath as it is on top. Please peruse all of the photos, video, and information below to get a true sense of how truly great this Corvette really is.

Accompanying the sale is a 3 inch think binder full of old photos, documentation, receipts, history, and information on the car. PLEASE VIEW THE FINAL SEGMENT OF THE VIDEO BELOW FLIPPING THOUGH THE FULL BINDER. We could not show pictues of each page in the photos below because the binder is so comprehensive. When the big block engine was built it was tuned on a dynamometer and there are about a dozen dyno sheets in the binder. There are also photos in the binder of the engine on the dyno stand. There is one specific photo below of one of the dyno sheets where the engine produced 499.6 horsepower and 574.2 pound feet of torque. The engine now has Edlebrock Performer RPM aluminum cylinder heads and a Holly double pumper Street Avenger Carburetor. The engine builder stamped the car's full VIN on the engine pad, which is pictured below.

This Corvette came to Ohio on September 6, 2006 from Tempe Arizona. Vintage cars from western states, such as Arizona, will not have rust and will be usually cleaner and in nicer condition overall. Before that in the 1980's the car resided in Colorado.

While this Corvette is not completely numbers matching it does feature a 3999289 Chevrolet engine, which is correct for a C3 big block Corvette. The block is also date coded from 1971 with a 1971 casting date. The engine also features a correct and original 3963569 aluminum intake manifold, which is accurate for a 1971 LS6 Corvette. The transmission is original and numbers matching with the last six digits of the car's VIN, 105866, stamped on the main case of the transmission and pictured below. The date of the transmission is "P1T23A." The "P" means it is a Muncie 4-Speed transmission. The "1" is the model year, 1971, the "T" is the month, December, the "23" is the day of the month, and the "A" is for the wide ratio. This is correct as it predates the car's build date of January 6, 1971 (F06). The main case 3925661, tail housing 3978764, and side cover 3952648 all have the correct casting numbers.

As a side note, this Corvette is not a dealer auction vehicle. We hand pick each car after careful inspection. Our Corvettes come from owners who expect their cars to go to someone that will give the vehicle the same care and attention as they did. We invite and encourage you to examine the car in person or have the car inspected. Please take the time to scrutinize each picture. We photograph each vehicle to the greatest extent so you can feel confident about your purchase. If you have a question about the Corvette, just give us a call.

condition

Exterior

The bright red exterior is in spectacular driver condition. As one can see in the photos the finish has a dazzling gloss, smooth finish, and deep shine. Please take a moment to look at all the underside photos of the car and the video underneath the car. It is nearly as clean and well detailed underneath as it is on top. The chrome bumpers and other bight work on the car show very well. The wheels and center caps are in excellent condition with a nice finish and no curb rash. The Goodyear Eagle tires have about 90% tread left and are sized 255/60R15. The soft-top is in great shape and the rear window is not yellowed or foggy. As with many Corvettes from this era the fit of the windows to the soft top is not perfect. Often Corvettes will have particularly chipped up front ends, this car does not. There are a couple very faint imperfections too small to show up in photos, but nothing that is really noticeable from about five feet away. As one can see in the many photos of the underside of the car, this Corvette is totally solid with absolutely no rust issues. There is no rust around the "key hole" area of the frame in front of the rear tires and no evidence of corrosion around the windshield or "birdcage," the most common areas for rust on C3 Corvettes.

The Stingray looks just as good in person as it does in the photos.

Interior

The black interior of the Corvette looks terrific. The seats look virtually brand new with no split seems, rips, or signs of wear. The carpet is also new and in great condition with no tears, holes, or stains. This includes the rear carpet, which is often neglected. The black floor mats with red "Stingray" embroidery really look nice and complement the black and red color theme. The dash and console are in nice condition with no fading, cracks, or sun damage. The door panels are in good condition and fit to the door well. The jack and jack handle are present and stowed correctly behind the passenger seat, which is pictured below showing. This car has not been smoked in and there is no aroma of cigarettes. Even very detailed items that are almost always broken or shabby are not on this car; details such as the finger pulls for the rear storage compartment.

The interior looks just as good in person as it does in the photos.

Mechanical

This Corvette seems to be in excellent mechanical condition. The engine runs like a top and the car is blisteringly fast as one would image with this much power. It starts right away every time, runs well, and idles well. The car drives terrifically; it is tight on the road and at highway speeds. In the video below one can observe the car accelerating on the highway up to about 70mph, braking to stoplight, shifting though all the gears. and going through some curves. Please note that there are no strange noises or vibrations and the car performs quite well overall. There is no blue smoke when starting or driving the car. The brakes are responsive and do not pull to one side or the other. The transmission shifts well and does not pop out of gear. The shifter feels great and it very tight. The clutch feels good and does not slip. Also, the engine compartment is exceptionally clean and detailed as one can see in the photos. The horn works as do all the indicators, and exterior lights. The headlights work and pop up okay from both the switch on the dash and the override switch. The blower for the heater and a/c works on all speeds. All of the gauges work the exception of the oil temp. The a/c system is complete, there is a belt on the compressor, and the the compressor is not locked up, but the a/c does not work so it most likely needs to be recharged. The wiper door does not work. The dash lights work as one can see in the video. Most of the fiber optics work. This Stingray is well sorted mechanically and has been very well maintained over the years. Not enough can be said as to how much of a pleasure it is to drive this car, especially with massive power from the big block and the top down on a beautiful day./font>

A note on the fiber optic light monitoring system. We consistently receive many questions about the purpose of this system; exactly what it is and what it does. The sole and main idea behind the fiber optic light monitoring system is to simply confirm that all of the exterior lights, headlights, indicators, tail lights, etc., are working and to make the driver aware of a a burned out bulb. Each lamp on the outside of the car has an actual fiber optic cable the runs to an indicator on the center console. There are nine small indicators on the console and each has its own finer optic cable. When the bulb goes on the light travels through the fiber optic cable and illuminates the corresponding indicator on the console. If someone does not remember to plug the cable end into the lamp housing, does any work to the center console, or if there is a break in a connection or anywhere along the cable, that indicator no longer works. As one can image, over time this is very common..

This Corvette runs and drives as well as it looks.

Overall/font> CCondition

Overall, this 1971 Corvette is in spectacular condition. This car is well restored with a very expensive and well built big block engine. There is no way a similar Corvette could be restored or duplicated with this level of quality for anything near our asking price. In my opinion and based on our experience the "Chrome Bumper" cars from 1968-1972 are the most collectible and hottest in the entire Corvette market right now. The value of these cars has gone up exponentially in recent years. They are all solid investments for a collector. The comprehensive documentation, history, high build quality, and stunning condition make this Corvette especially important and difficult to match. This Corvette always gets a ton of attention driving down the road. It is very apparent that the vehicle has been well taken care of by its previous owners. One could easily enjoy this vehicle for several years and sell it for more than the purchase price with minimal effort.

Thank you for looking and please email or call with any questions./p>
