vehicle description

Seven Hills Motorcars is very proud to offer this beautiful 1972 Corvette Coupe in excellent condition. The car has been completely restored and is exceptionally clean. This Corvette looks great, runs awesome, and is a spectacular driver that feels great out on the road. It is finished in the beautiful and unique color combination of Brands Hatch Green (983) over Dark Green Saddle Vinyl (423). This is the correct and original color scheme as verified by the codes on the trim tag pictured below. We have it priced to sell and are offering an excellent opportunity to own a very desirable Corvette at an unbeatable value. One could easily buy this car now and sell it for more than the purchase price in years to come as the market on C3 "chrome bumper" Corvettes from 1968 to 1972 is absolutely red hot right now and on the rise. There is no way someone could buy a similar Corvette and restore it to this level of quality for anything near our asking price. Please peruse all of the photos, video, and other information below to get a true sense of how nice this Corvette really is.

This 1971 Stingray rolled off the assembly line on February 15, 1971 (G15). The transmission is correct and original with the last six digits of the VIN, 109182, stamped on the main case and pictured below as well as the date code, P1B02A. The "P" indicates that this is a Muncie transmission. The "1" indicates the model year, 1971. The "B" is the second month of the year and the "02" is the second day of the month. The "A" is a suffix letter that indicates the gear ratio. So this is a Muncie Wide Ratio 4-Speed transmission that was assembled on February 02, 1971. The engine is not completely numbers matching, but does have a 3932388 casting number.

As a side note, this Corvette is not a dealer auction vehicle.  We hand pick each car after careful inspection.  Our Corvettes come from owners who expect their car to go to someone that will give the vehicle the same care and attention as they did.  We invite and encourage you to examine the car in person or have the car inspected.  Please take the time to scrutinize each picture.  We photograph each vehicle to the greatest extent so you can feel confident about your purchase.  If you have a question about the Corvette, just give us a call.

Exterior

The Brands Hatch Green exterior is in terrific driver condition. As one can see in the photos, the finish has fantastic gloss, deep shine, and smooth finish. Both doors open and shut nicely. Please take a moment to look at all the underside photos of the car. It is nearly as clean and well detailed underneath as it is on top. The wheels and center caps are in spectacular condition with no curb rash and a great finish. The tires are virtually brand new and correctly sized 225/70R15. There are a couple blemishes near the driver's mirror with a specific photo of the area below and a few hairline imperfections around the top of the headlights that were too small to show up in the photos; the are some others around car that were too tiny to show up in pictures, but nothing else that is really noticeable from about five feet away. The underside of the car is very clean and this Corvette has absolutely NO RUST ISSUES. The frame is totally solid around the "key hole" area in front of the rear tire and we have seen no evidence of corrosion around the windshield or "birdcage." These are the most notorious spots for rust on a C3 Corvette. We have included many photos of the underside to show how great it looks.

This Corvette looks as good in person as it does in the photos.

Window Date Codes

Windshield: NN - The first "N" denotes January and the second "N" denotes 1971 meaning the windshiled was made in January of 1971. This is correct as it predates the body build date of the car.

Driver: NN - The first "N" denotes January and the second "N" denotes 1971 meaning the driver's side window was made in January of 1971. This is correct as it predates the body build date of the car.

Passenger: NN - The first "N" denotes January and the second "N" denotes 1971 meaning the passenger side window was made in January of 1971. This is correct as it predates the body build date of the car.

Rear: VT - The "V" denotes Decemebr and the "T" denotes 1970 meaning the rear window was made in decemebr of 1970. This is correct as it predates the body build date of the car.

Please note that ALL of the glass on this car, the "Astro Ventilation" door glass and even the pop out rear window, is date coded and original as each piece predate the car's body build date of February 15, 1971 (G15). Original glass is a good indication that this car has had no major accident history and never sustained significant damage.

Interior

The Dark Green interior of the Corvette is in fantastic condition. The seats look virtually brand new with no split seems, rips, or signs of wear. The carpet is also new and in great condition with no tears, holes, or stains. This includes the rear carpet, which is often neglected. The dash is in excellent shape with no fading, cracks, or sun damage. The door panels are in wonderful condition with no cracks. The radio in the car is Corvette specific unit made to fit this car so most importantly the original dash was never cut or modified for the installation. This car has not been smoked in and there is no aroma of cigarettes at all. Even very detailed items that are almost always broken or shabby are not on this car; details such as the finger pulls for the rear storage compartment.

The interior looks as good in person as it does in the photos.

Mechanical

This Corvette seems to be in good mechanical condition. It starts right away every time, idles well, and runs great. According to the previous owner the engine was rebuilt when the restoration was done. The springs, all bushings, tie rods ends, ball joints, and basically the whole suspension is also new and was redone during the restoration. The car is a awesome driver that feels nice the road and at highway speeds. In the video below one can observe the car accelerating on the highway up to about 70mph, shifting through all the gears, braking to stoplight, and going through some curves. Please note that it drives smooth and the car performs quite well overall. It runs cool and does not overheat. There is no blue smoke when starting or driving the car. The brakes are responsive. The shifter is tight, the transmission does not pop out of gear, and the clutch feels good. Also, the engine compartment is beautifully clean and detailed as one can see in the photos.

The horn works as do all the indicators, wipers, exterior lights, and interior lights. The blower for the heater works on all speeds. Both manual air vents operate properly and open and shut easily, which is a very common problem on C3 Corvettes. All of the gauges work with the obvious exception of the clock. The entire vacuum system for the headlights and wiper door works correctly from both their respective switches on the dash and the override switches. The entire operation from both switches can be viewed in the video below. There is an occasional pop from the rear end of the car. Some of the fiber optics work. Not enough can be said as to how much of a pleasure it is to drive this car, especially with T-Tops out on a beautiful day.

A note on the fiber optic light monitoring system. We consistently receive many questions about the purpose of this system; exactly what it is and what it does. The sole and main idea behind the fiber optic light monitoring system is to simply confirm that all of the exterior lights, headlights, indicators, tail lights, etc., are working and to make the driver aware of a a burned out bulb. Each lamp on the outside of the car has an actual fiber optic cable the runs to an indicator on the center console. There are nine small indicators on the console and each has its own finer optic cable. When the bulb goes on the light travels through the fiber optic cable and illuminates the corresponding indicator on the console. If someone does not remember to plug the cable end into the lamp housing, does any work to the center console, or if there is a break in a connection or anywhere along the cable, that indicator no longer works. As one can image, over time this is very common.

Overall Condition

Overall, this 1971 Corvette is in very clean condition. In my opinion and based on our experience the "Chrome Bumper" cars from 1968-1972 are the most collectible and hottest in the entire Corvette market right now. The excellent condition, the restoration, and the beautiful color combination make this car especially important and difficult to duplicate. This Corvette always gets a ton of attention driving down the road. It is very apparent that the vehicle has been well taken care of by its previous owners. The prices of C3 Corvettes have increased drastically over the past years. They are secure and wise investments for a collector. One could easily enjoy this vehicle for several years and sell it for more than the purchase price with minimal effort.

Thank you for looking and please do not hesitate to email or call with any questions.
