vehicle description
Seven
Hills Motorcars is glad to offer this beautiful 1971 Corvette Coupe
in excellent condition and loaded with options such as, power steering, power brakes,
power windows, and tilt/telescopic
steering column. This Corvette looks
terrific, runs well, and drives
great. It is very fast with a GM performance ZZ4 crate engine. The
car is finished in the stunning and highly desirable color
combination of Ontario Orange (987) over Black Vinyl (400). This is
the correct and original factory color scheme verified by the codes
on the trim tag pictured below. We have this car priced to sell and
are offering an excellent opportunity to own a very desirable
Corvette at an unbeatable value. One could easily buy this car now
and sell it for more than the purchase price in years to come as the
market on C3 "chrome bumper" Corvettes from 1968 to 1972 is
absolutely red hot right now and on the rise. Please peruse all of
the photos, video, and other information below to get a true sense
of how nice this Corvette really is.
We have put over 70 miles on this Stingray and during that time
is was a pleasure to drive and completely reliable. While
this Corvette is not completely numbers matching the
previous owner told us it has a newer GM Performance ZZ4
crate engine. The casting number on the block is 10243880, which is
correct for a ZZ4. It also has aluminum cylinder heads with
a "6463" stamping, which would also be right for a GM
performance ZZ4 crate engine. The transmission is original and numbers
matching with the last six digits of the VIN, 199770,
stamped on the case and pictured below.
This car rolled off the assembly line on June 17, 1971
(K17).
As a side note, this Corvette is not a dealer auction vehicle.
We hand pick each car after careful inspection. Our
Corvettes come from owners who expect their car to go to someone
that will give the vehicle the same care and attention as they did.
We invite and encourage you to examine the car in person or have the
car inspected. Please take the time to scrutinize each
picture. We photograph each vehicle to the greatest extent so
you can feel confident about your purchase. If you have a
question about the Corvette, just give us a call.
condition
Exterior
The Ontario
Orange exterior is in excellent driver condition. As one can
see in the photos, the finish has dazzling gloss, deep shine,
and smooth finish. Both doors open
and shut nicely. The wheels and center caps are in good
condition with a great finish and no curb rash. The chrome and
other bright work shows very well overall. There are a few small
rock chips that have been touched up and some other small
blemishes around car that were too tiny to show up in pictures, but
nothing else that is really noticeable from about five or ten feet away.
The underside of the car is exceptionally clean and nearly as
nice as the top. This Corvette has absolutely NO RUST ISSUES. The frame
is totally solid around the "key hole" area in front of the rear
tire and we have seen no evidence of corrosion around the
windshield or "birdcage." These are the most notorious spots for
rust on a C3 Corvette. We have included many photos of the
underside to show how great it looks.
This Corvette looks as good in person as it does in
the photos.
Interior
The
Black Vinyl interior of the Corvette is in
spectacular condition and has been totally restored. The
seats were recently recovered and looks brand new with no
rips or split seams. The carpet is in excellent condition as
well with no holes or stains. This includes the rear carpet,
which is often neglected. The door panels look great with no
cracking or splits. The dash is in great shape with no
fading or sun damage. The radio works well, sounds great,
and the installation looks very professional. All of the
gauge faces are crisp and the lenses are clear. This car has
not been smoked in and there is no aroma of cigarettes at
all.
The interior looks as good in person as it does in
the photos.
Mechanical
This
Corvette seems to be in excellent mechanical condition. It starts
right away every time, runs well, and idles well. As stated above we have put
over 70 miles on the car with no issues at all. It is an excellent
driver that feels nice the road and at highway speeds. In the
video below one can observe the car accelerating on the highway
up to about 70mph, shifting through all the gears, braking to
stoplight, and going through some curves. Please note that there
are no strange noises or vibrations and the car performs quite
well overall. The
transmission shifts well. The brakes are responsive and do not
pull to one side or the other. This Corvette has a ton of power
and is very fast with the high performance GM crate engine. Also, the engine compartment is
beautifully clean and
detailed as one can see in the photos. The horn works as do all
the indicators, wipers, interior lights, and exterior lights. The blower motor
for the a/c and heater works. All of the
gauges work with the obvious exception of the clock. This is an original
factory A/C car, but some of the A/C components have been
removed. Most of the fiber optics work. The entire vacuum system
for the headlights and wiper door works from both of their
respective switches on the dash and override switches; their
complete operation from both switches can be viewed in the video. Not enough can be
said as to how much of a pleasure it is to drive this car,
especially with T-tops out on a beautiful day.
A note on the fiber optic light monitoring system.
We consistently receive many questions about the purpose
of this system; exactly what it is and what it does. The
sole and main idea behind the fiber optic light
monitoring system is to simply confirm that all of the
exterior lights, headlights, indicators, tail lights,
etc., are working and to make the driver aware of a a
burned out bulb. Each lamp on the outside of the car has
an actual fiber optic cable the runs to an indicator on
the center console. There are nine small indicators on
the console and each has its own finer optic cable. When
the bulb goes on the light travels through the fiber
optic cable and illuminates the corresponding indicator
on the console. If someone does not remember to plug the
cable end into the lamp housing, does any work to the
center console, or if there is a break in a connection
or anywhere along the cable, that indicator no longer
works. As one can image, over time this is very common.
The car runs and drives as well as it looks.
Overall Condition
Overall, this 1971 Corvette
Stingray is in wonderful driver condition. It is very
fast and should be very reliable with the newer GM
Performance crate engine. In my opinion and based on our
experience the "Chrome Bumper" cars from 1968-1972 are
the most collectible and hottest in the entire Corvette
market right now. The excellent condition, the ZZ4
engine,
and iconic color combination make
this car especially important and difficult to
duplicate. This Corvette always gets a ton of attention
driving down the road. It is very apparent that the
vehicle has been well taken care of by its previous
owners. The prices of C3 Corvettes have increased
drastically over the past years. They are secure and
wise investments for a collector. One could easily enjoy
this vehicle for several years and sell it for more than
the purchase price with minimal effort.
Thank you for looking and please do not
hesitate to email or call with any questions.
