vehicle description

Seven Hills Motorcars is glad to offer this beautiful numbers matching 1971 Corvette Coupe in fantastic driver condition with very low original mileage. This Corvette looks awesome, runs well, and drives great. We have put about 50 miles on this Corvette and during that time it ran well and was completely reliable. It is finished in the beautiful and highly desirable color combination of Steel Cities Gray (988) over Black (403). This is the correct and original color scheme as verified by the codes on the trim tag pictured below. This Corvette is completely "Numbers Matching" with the last six digits of the VIN stamped on the engine pad, which is pictured below, and the engine is original to the car. The transmission is also original with the last six digits of the VIN stamped on the main case and pictured below.

We have this car priced to sell and are offering an excellent opportunity to own a very desirable Corvette at an unbeatable value. One could easily buy this car now and sell it for more than the purchase price in years to come as the market on C3 "chrome bumper" Corvettes from 1968 to 1972 is absolutely red hot right now and on the rise. Please peruse all of the photos, video, list of numbers, and other information below to get a true sense of how nice this Corvette really is.

As a side note, this Corvette is not a dealer auction vehicle.  We hand pick each car after careful inspection.  Our Corvettes come from owners who expect their car to go to someone that will give the vehicle the same care and attention as they did.  We invite and encourage you to examine the car in person or have the car inspected.  Please take the time to scrutinize each picture.  We photograph each vehicle to the greatest extent so you can feel confident about your purchase.  If you have a question about the Corvette, just give us a call.

numbers

Please note when checking the numbers that not only do the correct stampings and casting numbers appear on the parts, but all of the dates are also chronologically correct. This means that all of the parts were made and assembled in the correct order. For example, all of the dates for the individual engine components and the engine casting date should obviously precede the assembly date of the engine because the parts had to be produced before they could be assembled. All of the parts I checked follow this rule and are dated correctly.

condition

Exterior

The Steel Cities Gray exterior is in great driver condition. As one can see in the photos, the finish has fine gloss, smooth finish, and deep shine. Both doors open and shut nicely. The wheels and center caps are in good condition with a great finish. The Goodyear Eagle GT tires have about 90% tread left and are correctly sized 225/70 R15. There are some small imperfections around the car that are too tiny to show up in pictures, but nothing else that is really noticeable from about five or ten feet away. The underside of the car is clean the frame is totally solid around the "key hole" area in front of the rear tire. We have included many photos of the underside to show how good it looks.

Interior

The Black interior of the Corvette is in terrific condition. The seats look just as good in person just as they do in the photos with no rips or split seams. There is one very tiny spot on the driver's seat bottom that is hardly noticeable. The carpet is in excellent condition condition as well with no holes or stains. This includes the rear carpet, which is often neglected. The door panels are in terrific condition overall. The radio works, and most importantly this is Corvettes specific unit made just for this car so the dash has never been cut or modified for the aftermarket installation. The dash is in great shape with no fading or sun damage, there is on little chip that was too small to show up in the photos. There is a very slight hint of old car smell if the car has been sitting with the windows up for an extended period of time. These Corvette interiors are not known to wear well over time and the nice condition of this interior is a testament to the care and attention this car has received throughout its life.

Mechanical

This Corvette seems to be in good mechanical condition. It starts right away every time and runs well. The car is an great driver that feels nice the road and at highway speeds. As stated above we have put over 50 miles on this Corvette with no issues. In the video below one can observe the car accelerating on the highway up to about 70mph, shifting through all the gears, braking to stoplight, and going through some curves. Please note that there are no strange noises or vibrations and the car performs quite well overall. There is no blue smoke when starting or driving. The car runs cool and does not overheat. The transmission shifts well. The brakes are responsive and the pedal feels good. There is some play in the steering that is also felt occasionally during braking. This Corvette has plenty of power and is quite fast. Also, the engine compartment is clean and detailed as one can see in the photos. The power windows work well as one can see in the video. The blower motor for the heater works on all speeds but high. All of the gauges work with the obvious exception of the clock. Some of the fiber optic system works. The entire vacuum system for the headlights and wiper door works from both of their respective switches on the dash and override switches; their complete operation from both switches can be viewed in the video. The horn does not work. Not enough can be said as to how much of a pleasure it is to drive this car, especially with T-tops out on a beautiful day.

A note on the fiber optic light monitoring system. We consistently receive many questions about the purpose of this system; exactly what it is and what it does. The sole and main idea behind the fiber optic light monitoring system is to simply confirm that all of the exterior lights, headlights, indicators, tail lights, etc., are working and to make the driver aware of a a burned out bulb. Each lamp on the outside of the car has an actual fiber optic cable the runs to an indicator on the center console. There are nine small indicators on the console and each has its own finer optic cable. When the bulb goes on the light travels through the fiber optic cable and illuminates the corresponding indicator on the console. If someone does not remember to plug the cable end into the lamp housing, does any work to the center console, or if there is a break in a connection or anywhere along the cable, that indicator no longer works. As one can image, over time this is very common.

Overall Condition

Overall, this 1971 Corvette is in wonderful driver condition. Numbers matching is extremely important in Corvette pricing and as one can see, this car is quite correct. There are photos below of the VIN stamp on the engine block, suffix code, engine assembly date, and transmission codes. The car is also finished in a beautiful and highly desirable original color combination. In my opinion and based on our experience the "Chrome Bumper" cars from 1968-1972 are the most collectible and hottest in the entire Corvette market right now. The value of these cars has gone up exponentially in recent years. They are all solid investments for a collector. One could easily enjoy this vehicle for several years and sell it for more than the purchase price with minimal effort.

Thank you for looking and please do not hesitate to email or call with any questions.
