vehicle description

Seven Hills Motorcars is very proud to offer this beautiful 1972 Corvette Coupe in excellent driver condition with only 67,250 original miles. The car was restored in 2008; it has been used sparingly since that time and remains exceptionally clean. This Corvette looks great, runs awesome, and is a spectacular driver that feels great out on the road. It is finished in the beautiful and desirable color combination of Elkhart Green (946) over Saddle Vinyl (417). This is the correct and original color scheme as verified by the codes on the trim tag pictured below. We have it priced to sell and are offering an excellent opportunity to own a very desirable Corvette at an unbeatable value. One could easily buy this car now and sell it for more than the purchase price in years to come as the market on C3 "chrome bumper" Corvettes from 1968 to 1972 is absolutely red hot right now and on the rise. There is no way someone could buy a similar Corvette and restore it to this level of quality for anything near our asking price. Please peruse all of the photos, video, and other information below to get a true sense of how nice this Corvette really is.

We first purchased this Corvette in 2012 and sold it to a gentleman in Kentucky that year. He enjoyed the car and put about 1,500 miles on it before he sold it back to us this year. He took great care of the car during his ownership and said that it has always been totally reliable. In fact, it was a nice day when we purchased the car car so I personally drove it back to our shop, which was about an hour drive and over 50 miles. On the trip back the car was a pleasure to drive and performed great.

This is a late build 1972 model that rolled off the assembly line on May, 8, 1972. The transmission is correct and original with the last six digits of the VIN, 520713, stamped on the main case and pictured below as well as the correct usage and date codes. The engine is not completely numbers matching, but does have a 3970010 casting number, which was used for small block Corvettes in 1972.

As a side note, this Corvette is not a dealer auction vehicle.  We hand pick each car after careful inspection.  Our Corvettes come from owners who expect their car to go to someone that will give the vehicle the same care and attention as they did.  We invite and encourage you to examine the car in person or have the car inspected.  Please take the time to scrutinize each picture.  We photograph each vehicle to the greatest extent so you can feel confident about your purchase.  If you have a question about the Corvette, just give us a call.

model description

The 1972 Corvette was truly the end of an era. 1972 was the last year to feature chrome bumpers and the "egg crate" grill, it is considered to be the last year of truly classic Corvettes. Years after were more at the mercy of insurance companies, fuel prices, and emission concerns, 1972 is considered the last "good" year. It was also the last year to feature a pop out rear window, and the first year that the way horsepower ratings are measured changed from gross to the more accurate net. As in investment, the 1972 will always have an advantage and out perform other years because of its precedence as the end of a a very great period for Corvette and muscle cars as a whole.

condition

Exterior

The Elkhart Green exterior is in terrific driver condition. As one can see in the photos, the finish has fantastic gloss, deep shine, and smooth finish. The body is very straight and both doors open and shut nicely. The wheels and center caps are in nice condition with a great finish. The chrome and other bight work on the car looks spectacular. There are a few small imperfections around the car that were too tiny to show up in pictures, but nothing else that is really noticeable from about five feet away. The underside of the car is very clean and this Corvette has absolutely NO RUST ISSUES. The frame is totally solid around the "key hole" area in front of the rear tire and we have seen no evidence of corrosion around the windshield or "birdcage." These are the most notorious spots for rust on a C3 Corvette. We have included many photos of the underside to show how clean it looks.

This Corvette looks as good in person as it does in the photos.

Interior

The Saddle interior of the Corvette is in fantastic condition. The seats look in person just as they do in the photos with no split seams or excessive wear. The carpet is also in great condition with no holes or rips. This includes the rear carpet, which is often neglected. The dash is in excellent shape with no fading, cracks, or sun damage. The door panels are in wonderful condition with no cracks. The radio in the car is Corvette specific unit made to fit this car so most importantly the original dash was never cut or modified for the installation. Speakers have been tastefully and discreetly installed in the rear storage area and the system sounds considerably better than the stock radio ever did. This car has not been smoked in and there is no aroma of cigarettes at all. These Corvette interiors are not known to wear well over time and the nice condition of this interior is a testament to the meticulous care and attention this car has received over the years.

The interior looks as good in person as it does in the photos.

Mechanical

This Corvette seems to be in good mechanical condition. It starts right away every time, idles well, and runs great. The car is a good driver that feels nice the road and at highway speeds. In the video below one can observe the car accelerating on the highway up to about 70mph, shifting through all the gears, braking to stoplight, and going through some curves. Please note that it drives smooth and the car performs quite well overall. It runs cool and does not overheat. There is no blue smoke when starting or driving the car. The brakes are responsive and do not pull to one side of the other. Also, the engine compartment is beautifully clean and detailed as one can see in the photos. The horn works as do all the indicators, exterior lights, and interior lights. The blower for the heater and a/c works on all speeds. All of the gauges work with the obvious exception of the clock. The entire vacuum system for the headlights and wiper door works correctly from both their respective switches on the dash and the override switches. The entire operation from both switches can be viewed in the video below. Not enough can be said as to how much of a pleasure it is to drive this car, especially with T-Tops out on a beautiful day.

When we first purchased this Corvette in 2012 the previous owner said that the following work had been done to the car during the restoration in 2008:

  • Edelbrock Performer Intake
    Holly 670CFM Street Avenger Carburetor
    New 2.5" Exhaust System
    Ceramic Coated Headers
    B&M Tork Master Torque Converter
    1.125" Front Anti-Roll Bar
    0.875" Rear Anti-Roll Bar
    All New Brake Calipers
New Upper and Lower Control Arm Bushings
New Upper and Lower Ball Joints
    New Front Springs
    New Rear Composite Monoleaf Spring
    All New Tie Rod Ends
    New Adjustable Rear Links
    All New Shocks
    Air Conditioning Service
    Transmission Rebuilt
    New Seats
    New Carpet
    New Door Panels
    All New Weather-Stripping
    New Sill Plates
    All New Tires
New HEI Distributor with Tach-Drive for a Corvette

Overall Condition

Overall, this 1972 Corvette is in fantastic driver condition. In my opinion and based on our experience the "Chrome Bumper" cars from 1968-1972 are the most collectible and hottest in the entire Corvette market right now and out of those years 1969 and 1972 are the most desirable. The excellent condition, the restoration, and the beautiful color combination make this car especially important and difficult to duplicate. This Corvette always gets a ton of attention driving down the road. It is very apparent that the vehicle has been well taken care of by its previous owners. The prices of C3 Corvettes have increased drastically over the past years. They are secure and wise investments for a collector. One could easily enjoy this vehicle for several years and sell it for more than the purchase price with minimal effort.

Thank you for looking and please do not hesitate to email or call with any questions.
