vehicle description

Seven Hills Motorcars is proud to offer this beautiful 1973 Corvette in excellent driver condition and with only 73,470 original miles. This Corvette looks fantastic, runs great, and is an excellent driver. The car is totally solid with nice lines. The Dark Red Metallic over Black Vinyl is a striking and beautiful color combinations that looks great on the car. This is an excellent opportunity to own a classic Corvette that is ready to be used and enjoyed at an unbeatable value. One could easily buy this car now and sell it for more than the purchase price in years to come as the market on C3 Corvettes is strong right now and on the rise and 1973 is a special year. The low original mileage is verified not only by the condition of the car, but also the clear Ohio title showing the mileage as "Actual." Please peruse all of the photos, video, and information below to get a true sense of how nice and clean this Corvette really is.

Included with the car are dozens of receipts for maintenance and repairs completed on over the years totaling over $7,300; the receipts go back to 1994. Also included are some receipts from 2008 showing the engine was rebuilt. This Corvette is very well sorted mechanically; it runs and drives great and is ready to be enjoyed. Some of the original documents such as the 1973 Chevrolet Maintenance Schedule booklet, 1973 Chevrolet Emission Control Systems booklet, owners manual, and the 1973 Chevrolet New Vehicle Warranty booklet showing the original owners name and the dealership where the car was sold new.

As a side note, this Corvette is not a dealer auction vehicle.  We hand pick each car after careful inspection.  Our Corvettes come from owners who expect their car to go to someone that will give the vehicle the same care and attention as they did.  We invite and encourage you to examine the car in person or have the car inspected.  Please take the time to scrutinize each picture.  We photograph each vehicle to the greatest extent so you can feel confident about your purchase.  If you have a question about the Corvette, just give us a call.

model description

The 1973 Corvette was truly the end of an era. 1973 was the last year to feature a chrome bumper and is considered by some to be the last year of truly classic Corvettes. Model years after were more at the mercy of insurance companies, fuel prices, and emission concerns, 1973 is considered the last "good" year by many enthusiasts. The 1973 model year is also considered a special and different year for Corvette enthusiasts as it was the only model to have chrome in the back and a rubber bumper in the front. It is representative of the transition Corvette was making at the time. As in investment, the 1973 will always have an advantage and out perform other years because of its precedence as the end of a a very great period for Corvette and muscle cars as a whole.

condition

Exterior

The Dark Red Metallic exterior is in nice driver condition. As one can see in the photos the finish has a terrific gloss, smooth finish, and deep shine. Both doors open and shut nicely. The slotted Corvette aluminum wheels are in excellent condition with a brilliant finish and no curb rash. The tires are correctly sized 225/70R15 and are literally brand new with less than 20 miles on them. The chrome looks good overall for a driver. There are a few blemishes and light checking around car that are visible in the photos and some that were too tiny to show up in pictures, but nothing else that is really noticeable from about five or ten feet away. As one can see in the many photos of the underside of the car, it is very clean. The frame is totally solid with no rust around the "key hole" area in front of the rear tire and I have seen no evidence of corrosion around the windshield, which are the two most notorious spots for rust on a C3 Corvette.

The car looks just as good in person as it does in the photos.

Window Date Codes

Please note that almost of the glass on this Corvette, both pieces of "Astro Ventilation" door glass and the rear window are date coded and original as each piece predates the car's body build date of July 27, 1973 (L27). Original glass is a good indication that this car has had no major accident history and never sustained significant damage.

Driver's - IU - The "I" is June and the "U" is 1973 so this window is original, made in June of 1973.  This is correct as it predates the build date of the car.

Passenger - IU - The "I" is June and the "U" is 1973 so this window is original, made in June of 1973.  This is correct as it predates the build date of the car.

Rear - JU - The "J" is May and the "U" is 1973 so this window is original, made in May of 1973.  This is correct as it predates the build date of the car.

Interior

The Black Leather interior in this Stingray is in outstanding condition. The seats are in excellent shape with no split seams, rips, or excessive wear. The carpet is also in fantastic condition with no holes, rips, or major stains. This includes the rear carpet, which is often neglected. The gauge faces are crisp and clean and the lenses are clear. The door panels are in terrific shape. The door pulls are solid and intact. The dash and console look awesome with no cracks or sun fading. The car now has a more modern CD player that sounds great. The radio installation is clean and looks prefessional. The jack and spare are still with the car and pictured below showing the original decals on the compartment lid. The spare tire is also still present. This Corvette has never been smoked in; there are no burns marks and no aroma of cigarettes. Corvette interiors from this era are not known to wear well, and the excellent condition of this interior is a huge testament to the meticulous care and attention this car has received throughout its life.

The interior looks just as good in person as it does in the photos.

Mechanical

This Corvette seems to be in very good mechanical condition. As stated above there are over $7,300 in receipts that go with the car. The car runs well and idles smooth. It drives great and feels nice on the road and at highway speeds. In the video below one can observe the car accelerating on the highway up to about 70mph, shifting through all the gears, braking to stoplight, and going through some curves. Please note that there are no vibrations or strange noises and the car performs quite well overall. The brakes are responsive and do not pull to one side or the other. The transmission shift well. As one can see in the video the engine makes great oil pressure. Also, the engine compartment is beautifully clean and detailed.

The radio works as do all the exterior lights, wipers, indicators, and horn. The blower for the heater works on all speeds. The vacuum system for the headlights works correctly with no effort or binding in the mechanism. Also, the headlights go up properly with either the headlight switch or vacuum override switch. Their complete operation form both switches can be viewed in the video below. All of the gauges work with the obvious exception of the clock. Not enough can be said as to how much of a pleasure it is to drive this car, especially with the T-tops out on a beautiful day.

The car runs and drives as well as it looks.

Overall Condition

Overall, this 1973 Corvette is in great driver condition. Low mileage examples in this year range are very rare and draw a huge premium over a standard Corvette. This Stingray is a great value and we have it priced to sell. The value of third generation Corvettes has increased dramatically in recent times, this is especially true for the 1973 model year. They are solid and wise investments for a collector. 1973 was a very special and one year only body style for Corvette that is always recognizable with the newer front end treatment and the classic chrome bumpers on the back. While this is not an NCRS Top Flight or Bloomington Gold car, it is a very nice driver quality Corvette and a great car for the money. One could easily enjoy this vehicle for several years and sell it for more than the purchase price with minimal effort.

Thank you for looking and please do not hesitate to email or call with any questions.
