vehicle description

Seven Hills Motorcars is very proud to offer this gorgeous 1973 Corvette that is completely numbers matching in spectacular condition with only 69,785 original miles. This car looks great, runs great, and is an awesome driver. We have this car priced to sell and are offering an excellent opportunity to own a very desirable Corvette at an unbeatable value. One could easily buy this car now and sell it for more than the purchase price with minimal work and effort in the years to come. This Corvette is finished in the very handsome color combination of White (910) over Dark Saddle Leather (422). This is the correct and original color scheme as indicated by the trim pad pictured below. It gets a ton of attention going down the road and turns heads everywhere it goes. This Corvette is numbers matching meaning the engine is original to the car with the last six digits of the VIN, 409727, stamped on the engine block, which is pictured below. The low mileage is verified not only by the condition of the car, but also the clear Ohio title showing the mileage as "Actual." Please peruse all of the photos, video, and information below to get a true sense of how nice, clean, and correct this Corvette really is.

The 1973 Corvette was truly the end of an era. 1973 was the last year to feature a chrome bumper and is considered by some to be the last year of truly classic Corvettes. Model years after were more at the mercy of insurance companies, fuel prices, and emission concerns, 1973 is considered the last "good" year by many enthusiasts. The 1973 model year is also considered a special and different year for Corvette enthusiasts as it was the only model to have chrome in the back and a rubber bumper in the front. It is representative of the transition Corvette was making at the time. As in investment, the 1973 will always have an advantage and out perform other years because of its precedence as the end of a a very great period for Corvette and muscle cars as a whole.

As a side note, this Corvette is not a dealer auction vehicle.  We hand pick each car after careful inspection.  Our Corvettes come from owners who expect their cars to go to someone that will give the vehicle the same care and attention as they did.  We invite and encourage you to examine the car in person or have the car inspected.  Please take the time to scrutinize each picture.  We photograph each vehicle to the greatest extent so you can feel confident about your purchase.  If you have a question about the Corvette, just give us a call.

numbers

Please note when checking the numbers that not only do the correct stampings and casting numbers appear on the parts, but all of the dates are also chronologically correct.  This means that all of the parts were made and assembled in the correct order.  For example, all of the dates for the individual engine components and the engine casting date should obviously precede the assembly date of the engine because the parts had to be produced before they could be assembled.  All of the parts I checked follow this rule and are dated correctly.

item number description*
VIN 1Z37J3S409727 The first digit, "1," indicated the Chevrolet division of GM.  The "Z" is the series, Corvette.  The "37" is the body style, 2-door sport coupe.  The fifth digit is the engine, J, correct for an L48 car.  The sixth digit, "3," indicates the model year, 1973.  The "S" is the plant where the car was produced, St. Louis.  The last five digits are a sequence number so this is the 9,727th Corvette made for 1973.
Body Build Date E12 "E" Corresponds to December, and the 12 is the twelfth day of the month meaning this Corvette body build date is July 10, 1973.
Engine Code V1204 "V" means the engine was build in the Flint, MI plant.  The "12" is the twelfth month of year and the "04" is the fourth day of the month meaning the engine was assembled on December 4, 1972.  This is correct as it precedes the build date of the car.
Suffix Code CLA This means the motor was intended for an L48 with an automatic, which is correct for this car.
Engine VIN Stamping 409727 The last 6 digits of the car's VIN, 401829, are stamped on the engine pad meaning this engine is original to this car.
Engine Block Casting Number 3970010 The engine block has the correct 3970010 casting number.
Engine Block Casting Date J 31 2 "J" is October, "31" is the thirty-first day of the month, and "2" is 1972 so the engine block was cast on October 31, 1972.  Which is correct as it predates the assembly date of the engine.
Intake Manifold Casting Number 3997771 The intake manifold has a correct 3997771 casting number.
Intake Manifold Casting Date K 27 2 "K" is November, "27" is the twenty-seventh day of the month, and "2" is 1972 so the intake was cast on November 27, 1972.  Which is correct as it predates the assembly date of the engine.
Transmission 73 CK The "C" means the transmission was made for a Chevrolet vehicle, and the "K" means is was intended for an L48 engine, which is correct for this car.
Transmission Date Code 319 The assemble date code for the 1973 model year starts with the first day of the calendar year in 1972 and continues through the calendar year in 1973.  This means "319" is the 319th day starting with January 1, 1972, which indicates the transmission was assembled on November 15 of 1972.
Windshield YY "Y" is October and "Y" is 1972 so this window is original, made in October of 1972.  This is correct as it predates the build date of the car.
Driver's Window CY "C" is November and "Y" is 1972 so this window is original, made in November of 1972.  This is correct as it predates the build date of the car.
Passenger  Window CY "C" is November and "Y" is 1972 so this window is original, made in November of 1972.  This is correct as it predates the build date of the car.
Rear  Window CY "C" is November and "Y" is 1972 so this window is original, made in November of 1972.  This is correct as it predates the build date of the car.

condition

Exterior

The white exterior is in excellent driver condition. As one can see in the photos the finish has dazzling gloss, deep shine, and smooth finish. The car was repainted with a little bit of pearl in the paint, which really sets off the color and looks great; white can sometimes be a little boring on a Corvette and this really improves the looks. The chrome bumpers loos like brand new and the other bight work on the car shows very well. The wheels and center caps are in excellent condition with a nice finish and no curb rash on the beauty rings. Often Corvettes will have particularly chipped up front ends, this car does not. There are no major blemishes that have been intentionally excluded from the photos. There are some small imperfections around the car and some that were too faint to show up in photos, but nothing that is really noticeable from about five feet away. As one can see in the photos of the underside of the car this Corvette is totally solid with no rust around the "key hole" area of the frame in front of the rear tires.

The Corvette looks just as good in person as it does in the photos.

Window Date Codes

Please note that all the glass, the "Astro Ventilation" door glass, rear glass, and even the windshield are date coded and original as each piece predates the car's body build date of December 12, 1973 (E12). Original glass is a good indication that this car has had no major accident history and never sustained significant damage.

Interior

The Dark Saddle interior of the Corvette looks absolutely superb. The seats look almost brand new with no split seems, rips, or signs of excessive wear. The carpet is good condition with no tears or holes. This includes the rear carpet, which is often neglected. There is some discoloration as one can imagine after 40+ years, but still looks good and probably better in person than it does in the photos. The dash and console are in nice condition with no fading or sun damage. The radio is correct, original, works well, and actually gets decent reception. The door panels are in excellent condition and are correct for a 422 trim code car with carpet along the bottom of the panel. The T-top headliners are not warped or sagging. The jack and jack handle are present and stowed correctly behind the passenger seat. This car has not been smoked in and there is no aroma of cigarettes whatsoever. Corvette interiors are not known to wear well and the excellent condition of this interior is a testament to the meticulous care this car has received throughout it's life.

The interior looks just as good in person as it does in the photos.

Mechanical

This car is in seems to be in good mechanical condition. It is an exceptional driver that feels great on the road and at highway speeds. There is no smoke when starting or driving the car. It starts right away every time, idles well, and runs well. The car also shifts well throughout the power band. The brakes are responsive and do not pull to one side or the other. Also, the engine compartment is clean and nicely detailed as one can see in the photos. The horn works as do all the exterior lights, turn signals (as one can view in the video), all gauges (with the obvious exception of the clock), wipers, and blower on all speeds except high. The entire vacuum system for the headlights works from both the switch on the dash and the override switch, though they do come up slow. The only item mechanically we are aware of that is not functional is the a/c. The entire a/c system is complete, intact, the compressor is not locked up, and most likely needs to be recharged. This Corvette has plenty of power and is quite fast. Not enough can be said as to how much of a pleasure it is to drive this car, especially with and T-tops out on a beautiful day.

Overall
Condition

Overall, this 1973 Corvette is in fantastic driver condition, runs well, and looks awesome. Numbers matching is very important in Corvette pricing and as one can see this car is very correct. It is a great value and we have priced it to sell. The value of third generation Corvettes has increased dramatically in recent times, this is especially true for any C3 with a chrome bumper. They are solid and wise investments for a collector. While this is not an NCRS Top Flight or Bloomington Gold car, it is a very nice driver quality Corvette and a great car for the money. One could easily enjoy this vehicle for several years and sell it for more than the purchase price with minimal effort.

Thank you for looking and please email or call with any questions.
