about the dealership
Seven Hills Motorcars is Cincinnati's premier Corvette specialist.  With many years of focused experience I specialize in 1963 to 2004 Corvettes.  There is no other dealership that can better meet your needs if you would like to buy, sell, or just find out more information about your Corvette.  This is simply a one man operation, and this is not my full time employment.  I do it because I enjoy it.  I am a collector and enthusiast and therefore look for cars that excite me.  I do not purchase at dealer auctions; each car is hand picked by me because it is special or rare to me and because I like it.

corvette description

Seven Hills Motorcars is proud to offer this 1974 Corvette Convertible in superb condition.
The previous owner was a hardcore Corvette enthusiast and this car shows that it has been meticulously cared for over the past 34 years.  This car was one of the many gems in his collection including multiple Bloomington Gold '67 big blocks and other mid-year Corvettes along side many other classics.  It can be verified that this car came new from the factory with the high performance L82 option by the fifth digit in the VIN.  Normal base engine Corvettes had a "J" while only L82's had a "T" in the fifth spot.

Only 5,474 convertibles were made in 1974 and only 2612 came with an auxiliary hard top.  A brand new restyled rear end was first featured in 1974.  The conventional rear bumper was replaced with a sloping two piece design.  This was the only year for the split rear bumper Corvette.  The new rear end eliminated the last vestiges of the long-lived rear-deck-lid spoiler and replaced it with a smooth-surfaced rear deck and a body-colored resilient extension covering the actual rear bumper and including the circular taillights meeting new federal energy-absorbing standards.

As a side note, this Corvette is not a dealer auction vehicle.  I hand pick each car after careful inspection.  My cars come from owners who expect their Corvette to go to someone that will give the vehicle the same care and attention as they did.  Please take the time to examine each picture I have provided.  I photograph each vehicle to the greatest extent so you can feel confident about your purchase.  If you have a question about the Corvette, please feel free to send an email or give me a call.

corvette condition

  Exterior

The red exterior paint is excellent. The paint has very high gloss, it is in absolutely stunning condition with no major defects and nothing that can been seen from 5 feet away.  The body fit is excellent for a Corvette.  Red is by far the most sought after color on any Corvette and also the most striking.  The tires are virtually brand new with what looks like no wear.  This car even still has the original Astro Ventilation glass for the two side windows.  The rear bumper was replaced with the more desirable fiberglass version that will hold up much better over time with a drastically improved fit.  The car looks in person just as it does in the photos.  It appears the hardtop was painted at a different time than the car.

All of the glass is date coded and original to the car as it predates the build date of December 11, 1980.  This indicates that the car has never been in a major accident and never sustained any significant damage.

Windshield: YZ - The "Y" denotes October and "Z" 1980 so the windshield was made in October of 1980.

Driver: YZ - The "Y" denotes October and "Z" 1980 so the windshield was made in October of 1980.

Passenger: AZ - The "A" denotes September and "Z" 1980 so the passenger's side window was made in September of 1980.

Rear Window: CZ - The "C" denotes November and "Z" 1980 so the rear window was made in November of 1980.

Interior

The silver interior of the Corvette is also in excellent condition.  This car has the factory option "custom interior trim," which it came with new from GM.  This includes leather seat trim, wood grain accents on the doors, as well as lower carpet trim on the door panels.  The seats do not have any rips or tears.  They show very little wear.  The driverís seat is not overly worn in the typical places, such as where the driverís belt-line may wear the seat bolsters. The carpet is in very good condition as well, showing little wear.  The convertible top latches and closes easily as it should, it has not shrunken, and the rear window has not fogged up or yellowed over time.

Mechanical

The Corvette runs excellent.  The motor is very smooth with very much power.  It starts right away and idles very well.  The transmission shifts well.  All of the gauges work with the exception of the clock.  The car brakes powerfully and perfectly straight.  Not enough can be said about what a pleasure it is to drive this car especially with the top down and the extra power from the L82.  There are absolutely no rust issues with this car.  The frame is in excellent condition with no rust and I have seen no evidence of corrosion around the windshield and "A" pillar.  Every option on this car works, the blower, air conditioning, horn, headlights, even the headlight override vacuum switch works as it should.

Overall Condition

Overall the Corvette is in stunning condition.  Corvette Convertibles will always draw a premium over other Corvettes  due to their rarity and desirability.  The color combination and both tops also makes this Corvette sought after.  The 74 and 75 Convertibles are still some of the best deals around in the Corvette market.  This car can be driven and enjoyed while continuing to appreciate in value.  This body style has increased in price rapidly over the past few years. They are now over 30 years old and will continue to increase in time.
