about our dealership
Seven Hills Motorcars is Cincinnati's premier Corvette specialist.   We are a licensed and registered auto dealer by the State of Ohio.  With many years of focused experience I specialize in 1963 to 2004 Corvettes.  There is no other dealership that can better meet your needs if you would like to buy, sell, or just find out more information about your Corvette.  This is simply a one man operation, and this is not my full time employment.  I do it because I enjoy it.  I am a collector and enthusiast and therefore look for cars that excite me.  I do not purchase at dealer auctions; each car is hand picked by me because it is special or rare to me and because I like it.

corvette  description

Seven Hills Motorcars is proud to offer this original numbers matching 1974 Corvette Convertible.  This 3 owner Corvette is an awesome driver, needs nothing, and is virtually "turn key" with everything on the car working including the original a/c.  The car has spent almost its entire life in Florida.  There are service records and documentation for this car that date back to 1976.  The previous owner had the car for 6 years.  He is a resident of Florida and only moved the car to his lake house in Ohio 2 years ago.  He purchased the car from his friend and neighbor who had owned the car since 1976.  Being from Florida, this car has never been in snow or salt and as a result has no rust issues and is especially clean.

The car is its original color combination, which can be verified by the trim tag numbers (10 for white and 425 for Ox Blood), which are pictured below.  This car was finished on January 11, 1974.  This is verified by the code "F11" on the trim tag, "F" means January and "11" is the eleventh day of the month.  It is also confirmed by the GM sticker on the drivers door marked "01/74."  This is a correct numbers matching car with the last 6 digits of the VIN, 413951, appearing on the engine pad.  Also on the engine pad is stamped "VI211CLD."  The "V" means the engine was made at the Flint, MI plant, the "I211" is a date code meaning the engine was completed on December 11, 1973, and the "CLD" is a suffix code meaning that the engine was produced for an L82 with an automatic transmission.  The engine block casting date is "L 4 3."  The means that the block was cast on December 4, 1973.  The "L" denotes December, "4" is the fourth day of the month, and "3" is the code for 1973.  All of the date codes are correct as they predate the build date of the car.  The engine casting number is 3970010, which is correct for a 1974 L82.  It can be verified that this car came new from the factory with the high performance L82 option by the fifth digit, "T," in the VIN.

Only 5,474 convertibles were made in 1974.  A brand new restyled rear end was first featured in 1974.  The conventional rear bumper was replaced with a sloping two piece design.  This was the only year for the split rear bumper Corvette.  The new rear end eliminated the last vestiges of the long-lived rear-deck-lid spoiler and replaced it with a smooth-surfaced rear deck and a body-colored resilient extension covering the actual rear bumper and including the circular taillights meeting new federal energy-absorbing standards.

As a side note, this Corvette is not a dealer auction vehicle.  We hand pick each car after careful inspection.  Our cars come from owners who expect their cars to go to someone that will give the vehicle the same care and attention as they did.  We invite and encourage you to examine the car in person or have the car inspected.  Please take the time to examine each picture.  We photograph each vehicle to the greatest extent so you can feel confident about bidding.  If you have a question about the Corvette, just give us a call.

Exterior

The Classic White exterior paint is in awesome driver condition.  The paint has a fantastic gloss and a smooth finish.  The previous owner has the car professionally painted 5 years ago and the car has only seen recreational used since then.  Often Corvettes of this vintage will have chipped up front ends, this car does not.  Also, the underside of the front end is very fragile and prone to damage.  I included photos of this area to show the care with which this car has been driven over the years.  There are no major paint defects that have been excluded from the photos and nothing that is really noticeable from five feet away.  The wheels are in excellent condition with no curb rash on the beauty rings.  The convertible top is in decent shape with no rips, tears, or holes.  There are no rust issues with this car.  There is no rust on the frame in front of the rear tire around the "key hole" and no rust visible on the "A" pillar or around the windshield.

All of the glass is date coded and original to the car as it predates the build date of January 11, 1974.  This indicates that the car has never been in a major accident and never sustained any significant damage.

Windshield: CU - The "C" denotes November and "U" 1973 so the windshield was made in November of 1973.

Driver: CU - The "C" denotes November and "U" 1973 so the windshield was made in November of 1973.

Passenger: CU - The "C" denotes November and "U" 1973 so the passenger's side window was made in November of 1973.

Interior

The interior of this Corvette is in nice condition.  The seats look very good and show little wear.  The door panels look as good as new and fit tightly to the door.  The carpet is in good condition with no excessive wear or stains This includes the rear carpet with is often neglected.  There is a small tear in the carpet on the driver's side, but it is covered by the floor mat, and as you can see in the photos hardly noticeable.  The console and dash look just as nice in person as they do in the photos with no cracks or sun fading.  The convertible top latches and closes easily as it should, it has not shrunken, and the rear window has not fogged up or yellowed over time.  The aftermarket radio was professionally installed in the stock location and the console was not cut.  This car has not been smoked in, there is no aroma or burn marks anywhere.

Mechanical

This car is in fine mechanical condition.  It starts easily, runs well, and idles well.  The car emits no smoke.  The transmission shifts well.  The car brakes powerfully and perfectly straight.  The car has a very healthy and throaty exhaust tone with the cam and sidepipes.  All of the gauges work.  Every option on this car works, the blower, air conditioning, horn, headlights, even the headlight override vacuum switch works as it should.  The only notable item I am aware of the the heater core has been bypassed.  Not enough can be said about what a pleasure it is to drive this car especially with the top down and the extra power from the L82.

Overall

Overall the Corvette is in outstanding collectable condition.  Corvette Convertibles will always draw a premium over other Corvettes due to their rarity and desirability.  The 74 and 75 Convertibles are still some of the best deals around in the Corvette market.  Matching numbers is an unconditional must for any truly collectible Corvette.  This car can be driven and enjoyed while continuing to appreciate in value.  This body style has increased in price rapidly over the past few years.   This time of year in this economic situation is about the best time ever to buy a car like this.  They are now over 35 years old and will continue to increase in time.
