about the dealership
Seven Hills Motorcars is Cincinnati's premier Corvette specialist.   We are a licensed and registered auto dealer by the State of Ohio.  With many years of focused experience I specialize in 1963 to 2004 Corvettes.  There is no other dealership that can better meet your needs if you would like to buy, sell, or just find out more information about your Corvette.  This is simply a one man operation, and this is not my full time employment.  I do it because I enjoy it.  I am a collector and enthusiast and therefore look for cars that excite me.  I do not purchase at dealer auctions; each car is hand picked by me because it is special or rare to me and because I like it.

corvette description

Seven Hills Motorcars is proud to offer this 1974 Corvette Convertible in superb condition.
Only 5,474 convertibles were made in 1974.  A brand new restyled rear end was first featured in 1974.  The conventional rear bumper was replaced with a sloping two piece design.  This was the only year for the split rear bumper Corvette.  The new rear end eliminated the last vestiges of the long-lived rear-deck-lid spoiler and replaced it with a smooth-surfaced rear deck and a body-colored resilient extension covering the actual rear bumper and including the circular taillights meeting new federal energy-absorbing standards.

This car is numbers matching with the original motor.  It came off the assembly line in St. Louis in April of 1974.  This is verified by the VIN sequence, this car is after the last car in March and before the last car in April, the sticker on the driver's door showing "4/74," and also by the trim tag with the code "I11," meaning this car was produced on April 11, 1974.  The engine pad has the following code: V0329CKZ.  The "V" means the motor came from Flint, MI.  The "0329" means the motor was stamped on March 29, which is correct for this car as it precedes the build date.  The "CKZ" is a suffix code used by Chevrolet meaning this engine is for an L48 4-speed car, which is also correct.  Most importantly, the last six digits of the VIN, 423635, appear on the engine pad.

The previous owner just last year spent thousands of dollars on this car.  He had a brand new soft top installed, a brand new luggage rack, new exhaust from the headers back, brand new Corvette specific vintage look radio, and he went through the suspension and steering.  These items are discussed in more detail below.

As a side note, this Corvette is not a dealer auction vehicle.  I hand pick each car after careful inspection.  My cars come from owners who expect their Corvette to go to someone that will give the vehicle the same care and attention as they did.  Please take the time to examine each picture I have provided.  I photograph each vehicle to the greatest extent so you can feel confident about bidding.  If you have a question about the Corvette, please feel free to give me a call.

corvette condition

  Exterior

The white exterior paint is in great condition has an excellent gloss.  Unlike many vintage Corvettes that are repainted to a more desirable color, this car actually came from the factory in white as indicated by the paint code, 10, found on the trim pad.  There are no major blemishes not shown in the photos.  The are some very small bumps near on the hood that were too small to show up in the photos.  It is evident that the front bumper has been repainted.  There are a few spots around the car but nothing that can really be seen from five feet away.  The tires are literally brand new with no wear.  The beauty rings have absolutely no curb rash or any marks what so ever.  This car even still has the original Astro Ventilation glass for the two side windows.  The rear bumper was replaced with the more desirable fiberglass unit that will hold up much better over time with a drastically improved fit.  The car looks in person just as it does in the photos.

Interior

The saddle interior of the Corvette is also in excellent driver condition. The interior is in its original color as indicated by the trim pad on the "A" pillar.  The seats do not have any rips or tears and show very little wear. The driverís seat is not worn in the typical places, such as where the driverís belt-line may wear the seat bolsters. The carpet is in very good condition as well, showing little wear.  The brand new convertible top latches and closes easily and the rear window is perfectly clear and spot free.  The dash is not split or sun faded at all.  The previous owner went to the expense to have the entire convertible top frame restored.  It is hard to tell in the photos, but is was removed with the soft top and painted.  The aftermarket radio was professionally installed in the stock location and the console was not cut.

Mechanical

The Corvette runs excellent. The motor is very smooth with very much power.  It starts right away and idles well.  The transmission shifts well.  The engine emits no smoke.  All of the gauges work with the exception of the clock.  The brakes are powerful and the clutch makes no noise and feels great.  This car is an absolute pleasure to drive, especially with the 4-speed.  There are no rust issues with this car.  With the work done to the suspension the car feels great on the road and drives awesome.  The frame is in excellent condition and I have seen no evidence of corrosion around the windshield and "A" pillar.  The only features that do not work on this car are the key buzzer and interior lights do not go on when a door is opened.  These are minor issues but must be disclosed.

Overall Condition

Overall the Corvette is in excellent condition.  Corvette Convertibles will always draw a premium over other Corvettes  due to their rarity and desirability.  The 74 and 75 Convertibles are still some of the best deals around in the Corvette market.  Matching numbers is an unconditional must for any truly collectible Corvette.  This car can be driven and enjoyed while continuing to appreciate in value.  This body style has increased in price rapidly over the past few years.   This time of year in this economic situation is about the best time ever to buy a car like this.  They are now over 30 years old and will continue to increase in time.

Thank you for looking and please email or call with any questions.
