about our dealership
Seven Hills Motorcars is Cincinnati's premier Corvette specialist.   We are a licensed and registered auto dealer by the State of Ohio.  With many years of focused experience I specialize in 1963 to 1982 Corvettes.  There is no other dealership that can better meet your needs if you would like to buy, sell, or just find out more information about your Corvette.  This is simply a one man operation, and this is not my full time employment.  I do it because I enjoy it.  I am a collector and enthusiast and therefore look for cars that excite me.  I do not purchase at dealer auctions; each car is hand picked by me because it is special or rare to me and because I like it.

vehicle description

Seven Hills Motorcars is extremely proud to offer this very rare, low mileage, numbers matching 1975 Corvette convertible for sale.  This particular car is 1 of only 180 1975 convertibles produced with a 4-speed transmission and a/c, which still works.  This car is beautiful and needs nothing.  The Corvette is TOTALLY numbers matching, literally every number on the car that I checked is correct.  Even items such as the alternator and starter are both original and correct, even down to the date code.   Please peruse the list below to check all the numbers.  This Corvette has been driven just over 75,800 miles since it rolled off the assembly line in St. Louis on October 22, 1974.  The car is in it's original color scheme, which is one of the most desirable,  Bright Blue (22) over Dark Blue Vinyl (26V) interior as indicated by the trim pad, pictured below.

1975 was a very special year for Corvette, it was the last year of the C3 body style in which a convertible model was offered.  Only 4,629 convertibles were made that year, which is why the 1975 Corvette Convertible is one of the most desirable models in the entire production run of C3 Corvettes.  1975 was also the first year Corvettes featured High Energy Ignition (HEI) with no mechanical points; a dramatic improvement over previous designs.

As a side note, this Corvette is not a dealer auction vehicle.  We hand pick each car after careful inspection.  Our cars come from owners who expect their cars to go to someone that will give the vehicle the same care and attention as they did.  We invite and encourage you to examine the car in person or have the car inspected.  Please take the time to examine each picture.  We photograph each vehicle to the greatest extent so you can feel confident about bidding.  If you have a question about the Corvette, just give us a call.

numbers

item number description*
VIN 1Z67J5S401177 The third digit, "6," verifies that the car is an original convertible.  The fifth digit, "5," verifies that this is an original L48.  The sequence 01177 places the car's build date in October of 1974.
Engine VIN Stamping 401177 The last 6 digits of the car's VIN, 401177, are stamped on the engine pad meaning this engine is original to this car.
Body Build Date A22 "A" Corresponds to October, and the 22 is the twenty-second day of the month meaning this car was built on October 22, 1974.
Engine Code V1010 "V" means the engine was build in the Flint, MI plant.  The first "10" is the tenth month of year and the second "10" is the tenth day of the month meaning the engine was assembled on October 10, 1974.  This is correct as it precedes the build date of the car.
Suffix Code CHA This means the motor was intended for an L48 with a 4-speed, which is correct for this car.
Engine Block Casting Number 3970010 The engine block has the correct 3970010 casting number.
Engine Block Casting Date J 9 4 "J" is October, "9" is the ninth day of the month, and "4" is 1974 so the engine block was cast on October 9, 1974.  Which is correct as it predates the assembly date of the engine.

condition

Exterior

The Bright Blue exterior paint is in nice driver condition.  As one can see in the photos, the finish has suburb gloss.  Often many corvettes will have particularly chipped up front ends, this car does not.  The underside of the front end is in great condition as evidenced by the photos.  There are no major imperfections that have been excluded from the photos.  A few flaws are visible on the right door and rear deck.  There are some small blemishes in the paint around the car that were too small to show up in photos,  but nothing that is really noticeable from five feet away.  The convertible top is in good shape for original and like most Corvette convertibles the fit to the windows is not perfect.  This car still retains its original side glass.  Original glass is a good indication that the car has not been in a major accident and never sustained significant damage.  The frame is totally solid with no rust and I have seen no evidence of corrosion around the windshield.

Interior

The Dark Blue interior of the corvette is in superb condition for being original.  The seats show very little wear.  Please note that these are the original seat covers, not some cheap after market replacement.  The carpet is in very good condition as well with no holes or stains.  This includes the rear carpet with is often neglected.  The door panels are in great condition and unlike many Corvettes of this age, they fit very well and tight to the door.  The convertible top latches and closes easily and the rear window has not yellowed or fogged up.  The dash is not split or sun faded at all.  The aftermarket Corvette radio works well, but only the right speaker works.  Most importantly the dash was not for the installation of the radio because the radio was made to fit this car.  The only noteworthy item inside the car is the car is the fuel gauge that does not work.  Corvette interiors are not known to wear well and the excellent condition of this original interior is a testament to the meticulous care this car has received throughout it's life.  Even very detailed items that are almost always broken, such as the finger pulls on the rear storage compartment, are in great shape on this car.

Mechanical

This car is in great mechanical condition, there are no issues at all with this Corvette and it is essentially "turn key".  The car starts right away every time, runs well, and idles well.  There is no smoke when starting or driving the car.  The car drives terrifically; it is very tight on the road and at highway speeds.  The transmission is solid and the car shifts well.  The brakes are responsive and do not pull to one side or the other.  This Corvette has plenty of power and is very fast, also the car has no catalytic converter.  Not enough can be said as to how much of a pleasure it is to drive this car, especially with top down on a nice day.

Overall
Condition

Overall this 1975 Corvette convertible is in marvelous condition.  Numbers matching is extremely important in Corvette pricing.  The originality, rarity (1 of 180), the beautiful and desirable color combo, and the great extent to which the numbers match make this car especially important and nearly impossible to duplicate.  Cars like this are the Barrett Jackson stars of the future.  The 1975 convertible is the star of today and the future investment vise; it is beyond doubt one of the most sound and secure ventures one could make into the Corvette market.  One could enjoy this vehicle for several years and sell it for more than your purchase price.
