vehicle description

Seven Hills Motorcars is exceptionally proud to offer this completely numbers matching 1975 Corvette convertible in spectacular condition with both hard and soft tops.  The car has only 57,090 original miles and is ready to be enjoyed.  This Corvette is priced to sell, always turns heads, and gets a TON of attention going down the road.  The car looks amazing and is an exceptional driver; I wouldn't hesitate to hop in take a long road trip.  The car is in it's original color scheme, which is definitely the most striking combination available for 1975, Bright Yellow (56) over Medium Saddle Leather (652) as indicated by the trim pad pictured below.  The low mileage is verified as original by not only the condition of the car, but also the clear Ohio title stating the mileage as "actual."

We first purchased this Corvette in May of 2010 with 55,342 original miles.  According to the owner at that time, this Corvette was sold new in Arizona.  It spent the first 16 years of its life there, until it was sold to a gentleman in Cincinnati, OH.  The second owner had the car until around 2007 when he sold it to another gentleman in Cincinnati.  The third owner of the Corvette had the car until 2010 when I purchased it.  Western cars are not exposed to the harsh winters and harsh elements that Midwestern and eastern cars can suffer from.  Vintage cars from western states, such as Arizona, will not have rust and will be usually cleaner and in nicer condition overall.  Later in 2010 we sold the car to a gentleman in Middletown, Ohio.  He owned the car until June of this year when I purchased it back with just over 57,000 miles.  He took excellent care of this Stingray during his three years of ownership.  The car was in stunning condition when we sold it to him and it looks just as magnificent now.  There are 175 photos of the car from our previous ownership available here for any perspective buyer to see how nice the car was then and 190 photos below showing how nice it is now.

1975 was a very special year for Corvette, it was the last year of the C3 body style in which a convertible model was offered.  Only 4,629 convertibles were made that year, which is why the 1975 Corvette Convertible is one of the most desirable models in the entire production run of C3 Corvettes.  1975 was also the first year Corvettes featured High Energy Ignition (HEI) with no mechanical points; a dramatic improvement over previous designs.

As a side note, this Corvette is not a dealer auction vehicle.  We hand pick each car after careful inspection.  Our Corvettes come from owners who expect their cars to go to someone that will give the vehicle the same care and attention as they did.  We invite and encourage you to examine the car in person or have the car inspected.  Please take the time to scrutinize each picture.  We photograph each vehicle to the greatest extent so you can feel confident about your purchase.  If you have a question about the Corvette, just give us a call.

numbers

Please note when checking the numbers that not only do the correct stampings and casting numbers appear on the parts, but all of the dates are also chronologically correct.  This means that all of the parts were made and assembled in the correct order.  For example, all of the dates for the individual engine components and the engine casting date should obviously precede the assembly date of the engine because the parts had to be produced before they could be assembled.  All of the parts I checked follow this rule and are dated correctly.

item number description*
VIN 1Z67J5S427723 The third digit, "6," verifies that the car is an original convertible.  The fifth digit, "5," verifies that this is an original L48.  The sequence 27723 places the car's build date in May of 1975.
Body Build Date H19 "H" Corresponds to May, and the 19 is the nineteenth day of the month meaning this car was built on May 19, 1975.
Engine Code V0512 "V" means the engine was build in the Flint, MI plant.  The "05" is the fifth month of year and the "12" is the twelfth day of the month meaning the engine was assembled on May 12, 1975.  This is correct as it precedes the build date of the car.
Suffix Code CHB This means the motor was intended for an L48 with an automatic transmission, which is correct for this car.
Engine VIN Stamping 427723 The last 6 digits of the car's VIN, 401829, are stamped on the engine pad meaning this engine is original to this car.
Engine Block Casting Number 3970010 The engine block has the correct 3970010 casting number.
Engine Block Casting Date E 6 5 "E" is May, "6" is the sixth day of the month, and "5" is 1975 so the engine block was cast on May 6, 1975.  Which is correct as it predates the assembly date of the engine.
Distributor 1112888 The distributor is original and correct with 1112888 stamped on the housing.
Distributor Date Code 5D28 The "5" is the last digit of the calendar year, the "D" denotes April, and "28" is the twenty-eighth day of the month meaning the distributor was made on April 28, 1975.  This is correct as it predates the build dates of the engine.
Intake Manifold Casting Number 346249 The intake manifold is correct with a 346249 casting number.
Intake Manifold Casting Date E 7 5 "E" is May, "7" is the seventh day of the month, and "5" is 1975 so the intake manifold was cast on May 7, 1975.  Which is correct as it predates the assembly date of the engine.
Carburetor Main Body 7045222 The original carburetor has the correct stamping for a 350ci L48 Corvette.  The third digit, "4," means the carb was built in the 1970's.  The fourth digit,  "5," means it was built for the 1975 model year.  The fifth digit, "2," indicates that it is a 4BBL carb.  The sixth digit,  "2," means is was built for the Chevrolet division of GM.  The last digit, "2," means it was intended for use in an automatic car such as this.
Carburetor Date Code 1145 The first three digits, "114" indicate the 114th day of the year.  The last digit, "5" is the year it was produced, 1975.  So the carb  was stamped in April of 1975.
Transmission 75 CK The "C" means the transmission was made for a Chevrolet vehicle, and the "K" means is was intended for an L48 engine, which is correct for this car.
Transmission Date Code 485 The assemble date code for the 1975 model year starts with the first day of the calendar year in 1974 and continues through the calendar year in 1975.  This means "485" is the 485th day starting with January 1, 1974, which indicates the transmission was assembles in April of 1975.
Delco Starter 1108776 The starter has the correct stamping for a late 1975 Corvette with an automatic transmission.
Starter Date Code 5D17 The "5" is the last digit of the calendar year, the "D" denotes April, and "17" is the seventeenth day of the month meaning the starter was made on April 17, 1975.  This is correct as it predates the build dates of the engine.

condition

Exterior

The Bright Yellow exterior is in magnificent driver condition.  As one can see in the photos, the finish has dazzling gloss and smooth glass-like finish.  Often many corvettes will have particularly chipped up front ends, this car does not.  The underside of the front end is in great condition as evidenced by the photos.  The convertible top looks great and operates easily.  I have specifically taken a photo of the area on the right side of the top that has been repaired to show how unnoticeable it is.  There are no major imperfections that have been excluded from the photos.  There are some faint spots and touch-ups in the paint that were much too small to show up in photos, but nothing that is really noticeable from five feet away.  The "worst" flaw on the body, a small spot on the hood that has been touched up.  As one can see in the photos this is not very noticeable.  This car features aluminum wheels, which are in great shape with no curb rash.  As one would expect from an Arizona car the frame is totally solid with no rust and I have seen no evidence of corrosion around the windshield.  This car has absolutely no rust issues.

Window Date Codes

Please note that all of glass on this car is date coded and original, even the glass on the original hardtop, as each piece predates the car's body build date of May 19, 1975 (H19). Original glass is a good indication that this car has had no major accident history and never sustained significant damage

The Corvette looks just as good in person as it does in the photos.

Interior

The Medium Saddle Leather interior of the Corvette is also in fabulous condition.  The seats look just in person just as they do in the photos.  Please note that these are the original genuine leather seats, not some cheap after market replacements.  The carpet is in nice condition for being original.  This includes the rear carpet with is often neglected.  The dash and center console look great with no splits, sun fading, or cracks.  The car has never been smoked in, there is no ash in the ashtray or aroma what so ever.  The rear window is clear with no fogging or yellowing.  The door panels are in great condition and fit well to the door.  Even the original wood grain inserts that only came with factory upgraded interior are in relatively nice shape on this car.  Corvette interiors are not known to wear well and the excellent condition of this original interior is a testament to the meticulous care this car has received throughout it's life.  Even very detailed items that are almost always broken or shabby are not on this car; details such as the finger pulls for the rear storage compartment and the fit of the center gauge cluster with the shifter console and down to the parking brake console.

Mechanical

This car is in fantastic mechanical condition and it is essentially "turn key".  The car starts right away every time, runs well, and idles well.  There is no smoke when starting or driving the car.  The car drives terrifically; it is tight on the road and at highway speeds.  I just personally completed a one hour road trip in the car and it performed flawlessly.  There are no strange noises or vibrations.  The transmission shifts smoothly.  The brakes are responsive and do not pull to one side or the other.  This Corvette has plenty of power and is very fast.  Also, the engine compartment is beautifully clean and detailed as one can see in the photos.  The smog pump and catalytic converter are still in place and have not been modified.  Every option on this car works, air conditioning, horn, headlights, headlight override vacuum switch, all gauges with the obvious exception of the clock, the tach works but the needle never really goes below 1500 RPM, all interior and exterior lights.  Not enough can be said as to how much of a pleasure it is to drive this car, especially with top down on a beautiful day.

Overall
Condition

Overall this 1975 Corvette convertible is in marvelous condition.  Numbers matching is extremely important in Corvette pricing.  The originality, the low miles, the beautiful and desirable color combo, and the great extent to which the numbers match make this car especially important and nearly impossible to duplicate.  Cars like this are the Barrett Jackson stars of the future.  The 1975 convertible is the right choice as an automotive investment in the short and long term; it is undoubtedly one of the most sound and secure ventures one could make into the Corvette market.  One could enjoy this vehicle for several years and sell it for more than your purchase price.
