about our dealership
Seven Hills Motorcars is Cincinnati's premier Corvette specialist and a licensed and registered auto dealer by the State of Ohio.  With many years of focused experience I specialize in 1963 to 1982 Corvettes.  There is no other dealership that can better meet your needs if you would like to buy, sell, or just find out more information about your Corvette.  This is simply a one man operation, and this is not my full time employment.  I do it because I enjoy it.  I am a collector and enthusiast and therefore look for cars that excite me.  I do not purchase at dealer auctions; each car is hand picked by me because it is special or rare to me and because I like it.

vehicle description

Seven Hills Motorcars is very proud to offer this completely numbers matching 1975 Corvette with only 69.020 original miles.  This Corvette is in gorgeous condition and needs nothing to be enjoyed.  The car is in it's beautiful original color scheme of Dark Red Metallic (74) over Silver Leather (142) as indicated by the trim pad and window sticker, pictured below.  This car has not been modified or molested and such items as the original smog pump and catalytic converter are still in place.  The low original mileage is supported by not only the ownership history and condition of the car, but also the clear Ohio title, pictured below, showing the mileage as "actual."

This car has ownership history back to new with one single family.  The Corvette was purchased brand new by a women here in Cincinnati in 1975.  She used the car regularly until her death about five years ago.  It was retained by her husband and son and used very sparingly until earlier this year when I purchased the car.  Unbroken ownership history, especially with one family, always adds to to provenance of any vintage vehicle and will be very beneficial to the value now and even more so in the future.  Amazingly, the original windows sticker is even still with the car and pictured below.

1975 was a very special year for Corvette, it was the last year of the C3 body style in which a convertible model was offered and the first year Corvettes featured High Energy Ignition (HEI).  It included Corvettes first distributor with no mechanical points; a dramatic improvement over previous designs.  1975 also featured structurally redesigned soft bumpers with a honeycomb core and small bumperettes.  The rear bumper, now a one piece unlike the 1974 model, featured new inner shock absorbers for impact.

As a side note, this Corvette is not a dealer auction vehicle.  We hand pick each car after careful inspection.  Our Corvettes come from owners who expect their cars to go to someone that will give the vehicle the same care and attention as they did.  We invite and encourage you to examine the car in person or have the car inspected.  Please take the time to scrutinize each picture.  We photograph each vehicle to the greatest extent so you can feel confident about your purchase.  If you have a question about the Corvette, just give us a call.

numbers

Please note when checking the numbers that not only do the correct stampings and casting numbers appear on the parts, but all of the dates are also chronologically correct.  This means that all of the parts were made and assembled in the correct order.  For example, all of the dates for the individual engine components and the engine casting date should obviously precede the assembly date of the engine because the parts had to be produced before they could be assembled.  All of the parts I checked follow this rule and are dated correctly.

item number description*
VIN 1Z37J5S435996 The third digit, "3," verifies that the car is an original coupe.  The fifth digit, "J," verifies that this is an original L48.  The sequence 35996 places the car's build date in July of 1975.
Body Build Date J18 "J" corresponds to July, and the 18 is the eighteenth day of the month meaning this car was built on July 18, 1975.
Engine Code V0711 "V" means the engine was build in the Flint, MI plant.  The "07" is the seventh month of year and the "11" is the eleventh day of the month meaning the engine was assembled on July 11, 1975.  This is correct as it precedes the build date of the car.

Engine VIN Stamping 435996 The last 6 digits of the car's VIN, 435996, are stamped on the engine pad meaning this engine is original to this car.
Engine Block Casting Number 3970010 The engine block has the correct 3970010 casting number.
Engine Block Casting Date G 9 5 "G" is July, "9" is the ninth day of the month, and "4" is is the last digit of the calendar year so the engine block was cast on July 9, 1975.  Which is correct as it predates the assembly date of the engine.

Carburetor Date Code 1755 The first three digits, "175" indicate the 175th day of the year.  The last digit, "5" is the year it was produced, 1975.  So the carb  was stamped on June 14, 1975.   This is correct as it predates the assembly date of the engine.
Transmission 75 CK The "75" is the model year, 1975, the "C" means the transmission was made for a Chevrolet vehicle, and the "K" means is was intended for an L48 Corvette, which is correct for this car.
Transmission Date Code 555 The assembly date code for the 1975 model year starts with the first day of the calendar year in 1974 and continues through the calendar year in 1975.  This means "555" is the 555th day starting with January 1, 1974, which indicates the transmission was assembled on July 9, 1975.

condition

Exterior

The Dark Red Metallic exterior is in terrific driver condition.  The finish has a brilliant gloss, very deep shine, and smooth glass like finish.  Often times a Corvette will have a particularly chipped up front end, this car does not The bumpers are not brittle or faded as they have been replaced with the more durable and higher quality "Tru Flex" units.  There are no major imperfections that have been excluded from the photos.  There are some nicks, touch-ups, small cracks, and other blemishes around the car that were too faint to show up in photos, but nothing that is really noticeable from ten feet away.  The wheels, beauty rings, and center caps are in nice shape.  The tires look virtually brand new and show no wear; they still had the protective blue film over the white letters when we obtained the car.  This Corvette has absolutely NO rust issues.  The frame is solid with no rust in front of the rear tire around the "key hole" and there no rust visible on the "A" pillar around the windshield.

Please note that all of the glass on this Corvette is date coded and original to the car as it predates the build date of July 18, 1975.  Original glass is a good indication that the car has not been in a major accident and never sustained significant damage.

Interior

The silver interior is in awesome condition.  The seats look almost brand new with no rips, tears, or split seams.  They are not worn in the typical areas such as where the driver gets in and out.  The carpet is in fabulous condition as well with no rips, holes or stains.  This includes the rear carpet which is often neglected.  The dash is not sun faded or cracked at all, this includes the very fragile speaker covers.  The door panels are in splendid shape with no breaks or splits and unlike many Corvettes of this age, they fit well and tight to the door.  The original pedal pads are not excessively worn, and as one can see from the photos, show normal wear for a car with this mileage.

Mechanical

This car is in great mechanical condition and is ready to be used and driven.  The car starts right away every time, runs well, and idles well.  The car drives terrifically; it is tight on the road and at highway speeds.  The brakes do not pull to one side or the other.  Everything on the car works with the exception of the a/c, which most likely needs to be recharged according to the previous owner.  All of the interior and exterior lights work, the horn works, the power windows operate properly, all of the gauges work with the obvious exception of the clock, even the rare option rear window defroster works.  This car has not been molested; the smog pump, catalytic converter, and emissions system are still in place from the factory.  This Corvette feels very fast.  Not enough can be said as to how much of a pleasure it is to drive this car, especially with the t-tops out on a gorgeous day.

Overall
Condition

Overall, this 1975 Corvette is in fantastic condition and would make an wonderful driver.  Numbers matching is extremely important in Corvette pricing.  The originality, one-owner history, low miles, and the great extent to which the numbers match make this car especially important and difficult to duplicate.  This Corvette always gets a ton of attention driving down the road.   It is apparent that the vehicle has been well taken care of by its previous owner.  The prices of C3 Corvettes have increased drastically over the past years.  They are secure and wise investments for a collector.  One could easily enjoy this vehicle for several years and sell it for more than the purchase price with minimal effort.
