about our dealership
Seven Hills Motorcars is Cincinnati's premier Corvette specialist and a licensed and registered auto dealer by the State of Ohio.  With many years of focused experience I specialize in 1957 to 1982 Corvettes.  There is no other dealership that can better meet your needs if you would like to buy, sell, or just find out more information about your Corvette.  This is simply a one man operation, and this is not my full time employment.  I do it because I enjoy it.  I am a collector and enthusiast and therefore look for cars that excite me.  I do not purchase at dealer auctions; each car is hand picked by me because it is special or rare to me and because I like it.

vehicle description

Seven Hills Motorcars is glad to offer this numbers matching 1976 Corvette that is an excellent driver and priced to sell.  The car is totally solid and rust free.  It looks great, runs awesome, and is a blast to drive.  This is an excellent opportunity to own a classic Corvette that is ready to be used and enjoyed at an unbeatable value.  One could easily buy this car now and sell it for more than the purchase price with minimal work and effort.  The low mileage is indicated as "Actual" on the clear Ohio title, which is pictured below.  Please peruse all of the photos and numbers below to get a true sense of this Corvette.

As a side note, this Corvette is not a dealer auction vehicle.  Our Corvettes come from owners who expect their cars to go to someone that will give the vehicle the same care and attention as they did.  We invite and encourage you to examine the car in person or have the car inspected.  Please take the time to scrutinize each picture.  We photograph each vehicle to the greatest extent so you can feel confident about your purchase.  If you have a question about the Corvette, just give us a call.

numbers

Please note when checking the numbers that not only do the correct stampings and casting numbers appear on the parts, but all of the dates are also chronologically correct.  This means that all of the parts were made and assembled in the correct order.  For example, all of the dates for the individual engine components and the engine casting date should obviously precede the assembly date of the engine because the parts had to be produced before they could be assembled.  All of the parts I checked follow this rule and are dated correctly.

item number description*
VIN 1Z37L6S409202 The first digit, "1," indicated the Chevrolet division of GM.  The "Z" is the series, Corvette.  The "37" is the body style, 2-door sport coupe.  The fifth digit is the engine, L, correct for an L48 car.  The sixth digit, "6," indicates the year, 1976.  The "S" is the plant where the car was produced, St. Louis.  The last five digits are a sequence number so this is the 9,202nd Corvette made for 1976.
Body Build Date C27 "C" corresponds to October, and the 27 is the twenty-seventh day of the month meaning this Corvette's build date is October 27, 1975.
Engine Code V1014 "V" means the engine was build in the Flint, MI plant.  The "10" is the tenth month of year and the "14" is the fourteenth day of the month meaning the engine was assembled on October 14, 1975.  This is correct as it precedes the build date of the car.
Suffix Code CKX This means the motor was intended for an non-California L48 Corvette with an automatic transmission, which is correct for this car.
Engine VIN Stamping 409202 The last 6 digits of the car's VIN, 409202, are stamped on the engine pad meaning this engine is original to this car.
Engine Block Casting Number 3970010 The engine block has the correct 3970010 casting number.
Engine Block Casting Date J 13 5 "J" is October, "13" is the thirteenth day of the month, and "5" is is the last digit of the calendar year so the engine block was cast on October 13, 1975.  Which is correct as it predates the assembly date of the engine.
Distributor 1112888 The distributor is original and correct with 1112247 stamped on the band.
Distributor Date Code 5J26 The "5" is the last digit of the calendar year, the "J" denotes September, and "26" is the twenty-sixth day of the month meaning the distributor was made on September 26, 1975.  This is correct as it predates the assembly date of the engine.
Intake Manifold Casting Number 346249 The intake manifold is correct with a 346249casting number.
Intake Manifold Casting Date G 10 5 "J" is October, "13" is the thirteenth day of the month, and "5" is is the last digit of the calendar year so the intake manifold was cast on October 13, 1975.  Which is correct as it predates the assembly date of the engine.
Left Front Wheel Stamping K 1 5 9  22 AZ "K" means the wheels are original Kelsey-Hayes as they should be, "1" means they were made at the Romulus, MI plant, and the "5" means they were made in 1975.  The "9" is the ninth month of the year and "22" is the twenty-second day of the month.  This means the wheel was made on September 22, 1975.  "AZ" is a code that was used on wheels intended for a 1976 Corvette.
Right Front Wheel Stamping K 1 5 9  2 AZ "K" means the wheels are original Kelsey-Hayes as they should be, "1" means they were made at the Romulus, MI plant, and the "5" means they were made in 1975.  The "9" is the ninth month of the year and "2" is the second day of the month.  This means the wheel was made on September 2, 1975.  "AZ" is a code that was used on wheels intended for a 1976 Corvette.

condition

Exterior

The blue exterior paint is in presentable driver condition.  The paint has a smooth finish and a high gloss.  There are no major spots or imperfections in the paint that have been intentionally excluded from the photos.  I have done my best to accurately and objectively photograph the car and show the minor flaws, but some are too small or cannot be picked up by the camera.  One should really view the car in person to get the best and most accurate idea of what the car really looks like.  For the most part however, the car looks in person as it does in the photos with some small blemishes, but nothing that really stands out from about ten feet back The tires are in nice shape with about 90% of tread left.  There are no rust issues with this car.  The frame is solid with no rust in front of the rear tire around the "key hole" and there no rust visible on the "A" pillar around the windshield.

Interior

The interior of this Corvette is in excellent condition.  The seats look literally brand new with no signs of wear.  The carpet is also in like new condition with no stains, tears, or holes.  This includes the rear carpet with is often neglected.  The console looks just as nice in person as it does in the photos, but the top plate on the shifter console does not fit perfectly.  The door panels look okay, but do show signs of wear upon closer inspection.  The dash does have a few cracks from the sun, there is a specific photo below showing the worst spot.  Both doors open and close fine, but just the inside driver's door handle takes a bit more pressure to operate.  All of the gauges work with the obvious exception of the clock.  This was not a smokers car and there is no aroma of smoke whatsoever.

Mechanical

This car is in good mechanical condition.  The car starts right away every time, idles well, runs fantastic.  There are no issues that affect the drivability of the car.  The car drives great; it is smooth on the road and at highway speeds.  There is no smoke when starting or driving the car.  The brakes are responsive and do not pull to one side or the other.  The transmission shifts smoothly throughout the power band.  Also, the engine compartment is nicely detailed as one can see in the photos.  This Corvette has plenty of power; the catalytic converter has been removed and replaced with a true dual exhaust system.  The fan for the heater and a/c works on all settings and even blows out of the correct vents, which is a very common issue of C3 Corvettes.  The wheel for the temp control is difficult to turn.  The a/c compressor is free and not locked up, but the clutch does not click on.  Luckily, this system has already been converted to the modern r134a style refrigerant.  The vacuum for the headlights works as both lights pop up with the headlight switch or override switch as they should.  This car is a pleasure and very much to drive, especially with the t-tops out on a nice day.

Overall
Condition

Overall, this 1976 Corvette is in great driver condition.  This car is a great value and we have priced it to sell.  This car turns heads and gets ton of attentions wherever it goes.  Numbers matching is extremely important in Corvette pricing.  The value of the C3 body style cars has gone up dramatically in the past few years.  They are all solid investments for a collector.  One could enjoy this vehicle for several years and sell it for more than your purchase price with minimal effort.  Thank you for looking and please email or call with any questions.
