about our dealership
Seven Hills Motorcars is Cincinnati's premier Corvette specialist and a licensed and registered auto dealer by the State of Ohio.  With many years of focused experience I specialize in 1957 to 1982 Corvettes.  There is no other dealership that can better meet your needs if you would like to buy, sell, or just find out more information about your Corvette.  This is simply a one man operation, and this is not my full time employment.  I do it because I enjoy it.  I am a collector and enthusiast and therefore look for cars that excite me.  I do not purchase at dealer auctions; each car is hand picked by me because it is special or rare to me and because I like it.

vehicle description

Seven Hills Motorcars is glad to offer this low mileage and numbers matching 1977 Corvette that is an excellent driver and priced to sell.  The car is totally solid and rust free.  It runs awesome and is a blast to drive.  This is an excellent opportunity to own a classic Corvette at an unbeatable value.  One could easily buy this car now and sell it for more than the purchase price with minimal work and effort.  The previous owner just had the engine professionally rebuilt and the car has seen less than a few hundred miles of use since then.  The low mileage is supported not only by the condition of the car, but also the clear Ohio title, pictured below, that states the mileage as, "Actual."  Please peruse all of the photos and numbers below to get a true sense of how original and correct this Corvette really is.

The 1977 model year is the last year for the original iconic Mako Shark body shape.  Most notable about 1977 model year was that it was the last year for the straight back window and "Sugar Scoop" rear decklid treatment.  The 1978 model year introduced the new large rear window along with the most extensive redesign in the C3 production run.  The interior in 1977 was slightly improved to made the driver more comfortable by moving the steering wheel forward two inches.  1977 was also the last year to feature the round gauges, storage pocket, and retain the truly vintage sense of the Stingray cockpit.  Many people prefer the more classic look and feel of the early C3's, such as this car, over the 1978-82 model years.

As a side note, this Corvette is not a dealer auction vehicle.  Our Corvettes come from owners who expect their cars to go to someone that will give the vehicle the same care and attention as they did.  We invite and encourage you to examine the car in person or have the car inspected.  Please take the time to scrutinize each picture.  We photograph each vehicle to the greatest extent so you can feel confident about your purchase.  If you have a question about the Corvette, just give us a call.

numbers

Please note when checking the numbers that not only do the correct stampings and casting numbers appear on the parts, but all of the dates are also chronologically correct.  This means that all of the parts were made and assembled in the correct order.  For example, all of the dates for the individual engine components and the engine casting date should obviously precede the assembly date of the engine because the parts had to be produced before they could be assembled.  All of the parts I checked follow this rule and are dated correctly.

item number description*
VIN 1Z37L7S444033 The first digit, "1," indicated the Chevrolet division of GM.  The "Z" is the series, Corvette.  The "37" is the body style, 2-door sport coupe.  The fifth digit is the engine, L, correct for an L48 car.  The sixth digit, "7," indicates the year, 1977.  The "S" is the plant where the car was produced, St. Louis.  The last five digits are a sequence number so this is the 44,033rd Corvette made for 1977, which also places the car's build date in July of 1977.
Body Build Date L22 "L" corresponds to July, and the 22 is the twnety-second day of the month meaning this Corvette's build date is July 22, 1977.
Engine Code V0714 "V" means the engine was build in the Flint, MI plant.  The "07" is the seventh month of year and the "14" is the fourteenth day of the month meaning the engine was assembled on July 14, 1977.
Suffix Code CLA This means the motor was intended for an L48 with an automatic transmission, which is correct for this car.
Engine VIN Stamping 444033 The last 6 digits of the car's VIN, 444033, are stamped on the engine pad meaning this engine is original to this car.
Engine Block Casting Number 3970010 The engine block has the correct 3970010 casting number.
Engine Block Casting Date G 9 7 "G" is July, "9" is the ninth day of the month, and "7" is 1977 so the engine block was cast on July 9, 1977.  Which is correct as it predates the assembly date of the engine.
Distributor 1103246 The distributor is correct for an L48 Corvette and automatic transmission with 1103246 stamped on the housing.
Distributor Date Code 7E24 The "7" is the last digit of the calendar year, the "E" denotes May, and "24" is the twenty-fourth day of the month meaning the distributor was made on May 24, 1977.  This is correct as it predates the build date of the engine.
Intake Manifold Casting Number 346249 The intake manifold is correct with a 346249 casting number.
Intake Manifold Casting Date G 11 7 "G" is July , "11" is the eleventh day of the month, and "7" is 1977 so the intake was cast on July 11, 1977.  Which is correct as it predates the assembly date of the engine.
Carburetor Main Body
17057204
The first three digits, "170," indicate the carb was made after 1976.  The fourth digit, "5," means the carb was built for 1976 - 79 production.  The fifth digit,  "7," means it was built for the 1977 model year.  The six digit, "2," indicates that it is a 4BBL carb.  The seventh digit, "0," indicates that it was built for the Chevrolet division of GM.  The last digit, "4," means it was intended for use in an automatic transmission car such as this.
Carburetor Date Code 0967 The first three digits, "096" indicate the 96th day of the year.  The last digit, "7" is the year it was produced, 1977.  So the carburetor  was stamped on April 6, 1977.
Windshield IG "I" is June and "G" is 1977 so this window was made in June of 1977.  This is correct as it predates the build date of the car.
Driver's Window JG "J" is May and "G" is 1977 so this window was made in May of 1977.  This is correct as it predates the build date of the car.
Passenger  Window GG The first "G" is April and the second "G" is 1977 so this window was made in April of 1977.  This is correct as it predates the build date of the car.
Rear  Window IG "I" is June and "G" is 1977 so this window was made in June of 1977.  This is correct as it predates the build date of the ca

condition

Exterior

The dark red exterior is in presentable driver condition.  The paint has decent gloss and smooth finish.  The wheels are in flawless condition with a prefect finish and absolutely no curb rash.  There are no major imperfections that have been intentionally excluded from the photos.  The paintjob has some age and blemishes, which is evident in the photos.  I have done my best to accurately and objectively photograph the car and show the flaws, but some are too small or cannot be picked up by the camera.  One should really view the car in person to get the best and most accurate idea of what the car really looks like.  For the most part however, the car looks in person as it does in the photosAs one can see in the photos it appears as if the hood as been repainted.  This Corvette has absolutely NO RUST ISSUES. The frame is totally solid with no rust in front of the rear tire and I have seen no evidence of corrosion around the windshield, which are the most notorious areas for rust on a C3 Corvette.

Please note that all of the glass on this Corvette is date coded and original to the car as it predates the build date of July 22, 1977.  Original glass is a good indication that the car has not been in a major accident and never sustained significant damage.

Interior

The Dark Brown Leather interior of the Corvette is in nice condition.  The seats look in person just as they do in the photos with some usual wear on the drivers side in the typical area.  Please note that these are the original seats, not some cheap aftermarket replacement.  The carpet throughout the car is also in "like new" condition with no rips, stains, or any signs of wear.  This includes the rear carpet, which is often neglected.  The console and dash are in great condition with no cracks, fading, or sun damage.  The door panels are in good shape with one small crack on the passenger side where your elbow would touch.  As you can seen in the photos it is not very noticeable.  The original pedal pads are not excessively worn, and, as one can see from the photos, show normal wear for a car with this mileage.  This car has not been smoked in; there is no aroma whatsoever.  The original jack and jack handle are still with the car stowed correctly behind the passenger seat.  The t-top storage bags are also included with the car.  Corvette interiors are not known to wear well and the good condition of this original interior is a testament to the meticulous care this car has received throughout it's life

Mechanical

This car seems to be in good mechanical condition.  According to the previous owner the engine was just rebuilt this year and has seen limited use since.  The car starts right away every time, idles well, runs well.  The car drives great, especially with the Gymkhana suspension package; it is smooth on the road and at highway speeds.  There is no smoke when starting or driving the car.  The brakes are responsive and do not pull to one side or the other.  The transmission shifts smoothly throughout the power band.  Also, the engine compartment is nicely detailed as one can see in the photos.  This Corvette has plenty of power and is very fast.  Even while driving this car on short highway runs, about 15 miles, in the 100+ degree temps we have experienced earlier this summer here in the Midwest it ran hot, but never overheated or went into the red on the gauge.  The horn works as do the headlights, fan for the heater and a/c, all gauges (with the obvious exception of the clock), wipers, lights, power windows.  The a/c seems to work and the compressor clicks on, but it sporadic.  The vacuum for the headlights works as both lights pop up with the headlight switch or override switch as they should.  The only item I am aware of on the car that does not work is the cruise control.  Not enough can be said as to how much of a pleasure it is to drive this car, especially with the t-tops out on a beautiful day.

Overall
Condition

Overall, this 1977 Corvette is in great driver condition.  This car is a great value and we have priced it to sell.  This car turns heads and gets ton of attentions wherever it goes.  Numbers matching is extremely important in Corvette pricing.  The value of the C3 body style cars has gone up dramatically in the past few years.  They are all solid investments for a collector.  One could drive and enjoy this vehicle for several years and sell it for more than the purchase price with minimal effort.
