about the dealership
Seven Hills Motorcars is Cincinnati's premier Corvette specialist and a licensed and registered auto dealer by the State of Ohio.  With many years of focused experience I specialize in 1963 to 1982 Corvettes.  There is no other dealership that can better meet your needs if you would like to buy, sell, or just find out more information about your Corvette.  This is simply a one man operation, and this is not my full time employment.  I do it because I enjoy it.  I am a collector and enthusiast and therefore look for cars that excite me.  I do not purchase at dealer auctions; each car is hand picked by me because it is special or rare to me and because I like it.

vehicle description

Seven Hills Motorcars is proud to offer this low mileage and completely numbers matching 1977 Corvette in immaculate condition.  This car looks and drives awesome.  It needs nothing and is ready to be enjoyed.  Medium Red over Buckskin Leather is not only one of the most classic and desirable color combinations, but it is also original to this car verified by the trim tag pictured below.  This Corvette is an exceptional driver and I wouldn't hesitate to hop in and take a road trip.  The low mileage is verified by not only the condition of the car, but also the clear Ohio title stating the mileage as "actual."  Please peruse all of the photos and the list of numbers below to get a true sense of clean this Corvette really is.

Most notable about 1977 model year was that it was the last year for the straight back window and "Sugar Scoop" rear decklid treatment.  The 1978 model year introduced the new large rear window along with the most extensive redesign in the C3 production run.  The interior in 1977 was slightly improved to made the driver more comfortable by moving the steering wheel forward two inches.  1977 was also the last year to feature the round gauges, storage pocket, and retain the truly vintage sense of the Stingray cockpit.  Many people prefer the more classic look and feel of the early C3's, such as this car, over the 1978-82 model years.

As a side note, this Corvette is not a dealer auction vehicle.  We hand pick each car after careful inspection.  Our Corvettes come from owners who expect their cars to go to someone that will give the vehicle the same care and attention as they did.  We invite and encourage you to examine the car in person or have the car inspected.  Please take the time to scrutinize each picture.  We photograph each vehicle to the greatest extent so you can feel confident about your purchase.  If you have a question about the Corvette, just give us a call.

numbers

item number description*
VIN 1Z37L7S415553 The first digit, "1," indicated the Chevrolet division of GM.  The "Z" is the series, Corvette.  The "37" is the body style, 2-door sport coupe.  The fifth digit is the engine, L, correct for an L48 car.  The sixth digit, "7," indicates the model year, 1977.  The "S" is the plant where the car was produced, St. Louis.  The last five digits are a sequence number so this is the 15,553rd Corvette made in 1977.
Body Build Date E09 "E" corresponds to December, and the 09 is the ninth day of the month meaning this Corvette's build date is December 9, 1976.
Engine Code V1129 "V" means the engine was build in the Flint, MI plant.  The "11" is the eleventh month of year and the "29" is the twenty-ninth day of the month meaning the engine was assembled on November 29, 1976.
Suffix Code CLA This means the motor was intended for an L48 with an automatic transmission, which is correct for this car.
Engine VIN Stamping 415553 The last 6 digits of the car's VIN, 415553, are stamped on the engine pad meaning this engine is original to this car.
Engine Block Casting Number 3970010 The engine block has the correct 3970010 casting number.
Engine Block Casting Date K 23 6 "K" is November, "23" is the twenty-third day of the month, and "6" is 1976 so the engine block was cast on November 23, 1976.  Which is correct as it predates the assembly date of the engine.
Distributor 1103246 The distributor is correct with 1103246 stamped on the housing.
Distributor Date Code 6 L 2 The "6" is the last digit of the calendar year, the "L" denotes November, and "2" is the second day of the month meaning the distributor was made on November 2, 1976.  This is correct as it predates the build dates of the engine.
Intake Manifold Casting Number 346249 The intake manifold is correct with a 346249 casting number.
Intake Manifold Casting Date K 24 6 "K" is November, "24" is the twenty-fourth day of the month, and "6" is 1976 so the intake manifold was cast on November 24, 1976.  Which is correct as it predates the assembly date of the engine.
Windshield VC "V" is December and "C" is 1976 so this window is original, made in December of 1976.  This is correct as it predates the build date of the car.
Driver's Window CC "C" is November and "C" is 1976 so this window is original, made in November of 1976.  This is correct as it predates the build date of the car.
Passenger  Window CC "C" is November and "C" is 1976 so this window is original, made in November of 1976.  This is correct as it predates the build date of the car.
Rear  Window VC "V" is December and "C" is 1976 so this window is original, made in December of 1976.  This is correct as it predates the build date of the car.

condition

Exterior

The Medium Red exterior is in beautiful driver condition.  As one can see in the photos the finish has dazzling gloss and smooth finish.  Often many corvettes will have particularly chipped up front ends, this car does not.  The underside of the front end is in great condition as evidenced by the photos.  There are no major imperfections that have been excluded from the photos.  There may be some small blemishes that were much too small to show up in photos, but nothing that is really noticeable from five feet away.  The bumpers have not shrunken or faded and fit well to the car.  This Corvette has absolutely NO rust issues.  The frame is totally solid with no rust in front of the rear tire and I have seen no evidence of corrosion around the windshield.

The car looks just as good in person as it does in the photos.

Please note that all of the glass on this Corvette is date coded and original to the car as it predates the build date of the car.  Original glass is a good indication that the car has not been in a major accident and never sustained significant damage.

Interior

The Buckskin Leather interior of the Corvette is in awesome condition.  The seats look great with no rips, tears, or split seams.  They are not overly worn in the typical areas such as where the driver gets in and out.  Please note that these are the original seats, not some cheap after market replacement.  The carpet is in exceptional condition and looks nearly perfect, with no stains, rips, or holes This includes the rear carpet with is often neglected.  The console is in great condition and fits well.  The door panels are in great shape with no splits or damage and unlike many Corvettes of this age, they fit well and tight to the door.  The aftermarket radio works, and most importantly the dash was not for the installation.  Please note that detail items, such as the pulls for the rear compartment doors, have not been pulled through on this car.  This car has not been smoked in; there are no burn marks or aroma whatsoever.

Mechanical

This Corvette is in awesome mechanical condition; it has no issues and is a great driver.  The car starts right away every time, runs well, and idles well.  There is no smoke when starting or driving the car.  The transmission shifts smoothly.  All of the interior and exterior lights work and the headlights pop up with no binding.  The pull down vacuum switch for the headlights works as well.  All of the gauges work with the obvious exception of the clock.  The car drives terrifically; it is very tight on the road and at highway speeds.  The brakes are responsive and do not pull to one side or the other.  The power antenna works.  The only items that I am aware of that do not work on the car are the cruise control and a/c.  These are minor issues that do no affect drivability that most dealers would not reveal, but must be disclosed.  This Corvette has plenty of power and is very fast.  Not enough can be said as to how much of a pleasure it is to drive this car, especially with the t-tops out on a nice day.

Overall
Condition

Overall, this 1977 Corvette is in terrific condition.  Numbers matching is extremely important in Corvette pricing.  The originality and the great extent to which the numbers match make this car especially important and hard to duplicate.  The 1977 model year is the last for the straight rear window and sugar scoop rear body work and will be very collectible now and in the future.  One could enjoy this vehicle for several years and sell it for more than your purchase price with minimal effort.
