Seven Hills Motorcars is
Cincinnati's premier Corvette specialist. We are a
licensed and registered auto dealer by the State of Ohio. With
many years of focused experience I specialize in 1963 to 2004 Corvettes.
There is no other dealership that can better meet your needs if you
would like to buy, sell, or just find out more information about your
Corvette. This is simply a one man operation, and this is not my
full time employment. I do it because I enjoy it. I am a
collector and enthusiast and therefore look for cars that excite me.
I do not purchase at dealer auctions; each car is hand picked by me
because it is special or rare to me and because I like it.

Seven Hills Motorcars is very proud to offer this Silver Anniversary
Edition 1978 Chevrolet Corvette for sale. We have had the
great opportunity to acquire this low mileage Corvette in excellent
condition. The Corvette has just under 76,000 original miles.
This Corvette is numbers matching, meaning the last 6 digits
of the vin, 436134, are stamped on the engine pad. All 1978
Corvettes wore the "25th Anniversary" badge, however, only certain
cars such as this were the actually Silver Anniversary Editions with
the Silver Anniversary Paint regular production order, "B2Z."
This is verified by the trim tag that is pictured below showing the
paint to be 13 for the bright silver upper sections and 07, which
was only used in 1978 and only for the B27 Corvettes, on the darker
Corvette's 25th Anniversary in 1978 with the most extensive redesign
of the car since the introduction of the C3 body style in 1968.
The new Corvette introduced a large fastback style rear window that
drastically increased luggage space in the rear compartment behind
the seats. The interior of the 1978 was also significantly
redesigned. The speedometer and tachometer were redesigned in
a more square and vertical mode. A glove box was added on the
passenger side to replace the pocket. The door panels were
also completely new and included screw on arm rests to replace the
molded style that been the standard since 1965. 1978 Corvettes
featured special 25th Anniversary emblems specific to that year.
As a side note, this Corvette is not a dealer auction vehicle.
We hand pick each car after careful inspection. Our cars
come from owners who expect their cars to go to someone that will
give the vehicle the same care and attention as they did. We
invite and encourage you to examine the car in person or have the
car inspected. Please take the time to examine each picture.
We photograph each vehicle to the greatest extent so you can feel
confident about bidding. If you have a question about the
Corvette, just give us a call.
I checked around the
engine compartment and recorded some of the more easily accessible
numbers. They are as follows:
Body Build Date
"K" Corresponds to July, and the 25 is the 25th day of the
month meaning this car's body was built on July 26, 1978.
"V" means the engine was build in the Flint, MI plant.
"0713" corresponds to July 13, 1978. This is
correct as it precedes the build date of the car.
This means the motor was intended for an 350ci 185hp engine with an
automatic, which is correct for this car.
Engine VIN Stamping
The last 6 digits of the car's VIN, 436134, are stamped on
the engine pad meaning this engine is original to this car.
The intake manifold is correct with a 346249 casting
Exhaust Manifold, Right
The right exhaust manifold is correct with a 3932461 casting
Exhaust Manifold, Left
The left exhaust manifold is correct with a 3932461 casting
The original carburetor has the correct stamping for a late
185hp car such as this.
Carburetor Date Code
"129" is the 129th day of the year and "8" is 1978 so the
carburetor was made in May of 1978, which is correct as it
predates the build date of the car.
Engine Block Casting Number
The engine block has the correct 3970010 casting number.
Cylinder Head, Right Casting #
The right cylinder head is correct with a 3998993 casting
Cylinder Head, Right Casting Date
G 12 8
"G" is July, "12" is the twelfth day of the month,
and "8" is 1978 so the engine block was cast on
July 12, 1978.
Cylinder Head, Left Casting #
The left cylinder head is correct with a 3998993 casting
Cylinder Head, Left Casting Date
F 21 8
"F" is June, "21" is the twenty-first day of the month, and
"8" is 1978 so the engine block was cast on June
obtained from Alan A. Colvin's book Corvette by the Numbers and
Mike Antonick's book Corvette Black Book.
paint is in fine condition.
The paint has a dazzling gloss
and smooth finish. This car is in it's original colors as
indicated by the trim pad numbers, 13 and 07. There are no
major scratches, scrapes, or cracks in the paint or body.
"rubber bumper" Corvettes suffer from ill-fitting and shrunken
front and rear bumpers, this car does not.
The body panel fit,
including the rubber bumpers, is very good. Poorly fitting
bumpers are a great sign of bad body work and/or accident
history. Often many corvettes will have particularly
chipped up front ends,
this car does not. The underside of the front
end is in great condition. This part of the car is very
fragile and a testament to the meticulous care this car has
received throughout it's life.
There are some small blemishes and touch ups in the paint
around the car. Some are visible in the photos and there
are some are too small to show up in the photos, but there is
nothing that is really noticeable from five or ten feet away.
This Corvette came equipped with aluminum wheels, which are in
condition with a nice
finish. The tires look nearly brand new.
The frame and
everything else on the car is very solid and I have not noticed
any corrosion around the "A" pillar. The car looks just
as good in person as it does in the photos.
The interior of the corvette is in great
original condition. This is an Oyster Leather car as indicated by the trim pad number,
122. The seats are in very nice original condition and
look in person just as they do in the photos. Also, the
seats are original, not some cheap aftermarket replacement.
The carpet is in excellent condition and appears to be original.
This includes the rear carpet with is often neglected.
There are no major stains, rips, or holes in the carpet.
The car has never been smoked in, there is no ash in the ashtray
or aroma what so ever. Other detailed items such as the fit of the
carpet against the center console shows that this car has
diligently cared for and not been molested.
The dash and center console look awesome and have no cracks or
sun damage. The door panels are nice and fit tightly to
The interior looks just as good in person as it does in the
This car is in excellent mechanical condition.
There are no issues with this car and it is effectively 100%
turn key. The previous owner just went through the entire
suspension system before he sold the car. Therefore, the car is
very tight on the road and at highway speeds. It also brakes
strongly and perfectly straight.
It starts easily, runs well, and and does not
The car has plenty of
power and is very fast. The 3 Speed transmission shifts smoothly
throughout the power band.
Everything on this car works with
the obvious exception of the clock. This includes the
air conditioning, gauges, horn, power antenna, and even the
cruise control. The headlights go up and down as they should
with both the headlight switch, and the headlight override vacuum
All of the
interior and exterior lights work. Not enough can be said as to
how much of a pleasure it is to drive this car.
Overall the Corvette is in great
condition. Special and Anniversary Edition Corvettes
always draw a premium over their standard Corvette counterparts.
Numbers matching and originality are extremely important in
Corvette pricing, and as you can see this car very original and
correct. The value of the late C3 body style cars has gone
up dramatically in the past few years. They are all solid
investments for a collector. You can drive and enjoy this
vehicle for several years and sell it for more than your
The Corvette always turns heads and is
admired by every car enthusiast.
