Seven Hills Motorcars is
Cincinnati's premier Corvette specialist anda
licensed and registered auto dealer by the State of Ohio. With
many years of focused experience I specialize in 1957 to 1982 Corvettes.
There is no other dealership that can better meet your needs if you
would like to buy, sell, or just find out more information about your
Corvette. This is simply a one man operation, and this is not my
full time employment. I do it because I enjoy it. I am a
collector and enthusiast and therefore look for cars that excite me.
I do not purchase at dealer auctions; each car is hand picked by me
because it is special or rare to me and because I like it.

vehicle description
Seven Hills Motorcars is very proud to offer this low mileage and
numbers matching 1979 Corvette in incredible condition.
This car literally looks better and has a higher quality paintjob
than when it was new. It looks and drives awesome, needs
nothing, and is essentially 100% "turn key."
The previous owner has recently spent thousands of dollars on the
car with dozens of receipts included. He also just had the car
painted and said the cost was over $6,000, which is totally
believable if you see the extremely high quality of paintwork on the
car.
This Corvette is finished in one of the most unique and attractive
color combinations for a C3 Corvette. Corvette Light Blue over
Black Leather is the original and correct color scheme for this car,
verified by the trim tag pictured below. This color gets a ton
of attention and
I cannot even count the number of compliments I have received about
the color of this Corvette. The low mileage is supported by
not only the condition of the car, but also the clear Ohio title,
pictured below, showing the mileage as "actual." This Corvette
is an exceptional driver and I wouldn't hesitate to hop in and take
a road trip. Please peruse all of the photos and numbers below
to get a true sense of how clean and correct this Corvette really
is.
"The Corvette evolution continues" announced the slogan from the
1979 Corvette sales catalog. The L48 engine received the
dual-snorkel air intake introduced in 1978 for the optional L82 V-8,
which added 10 horsepower. All Corvettes in 1979 now had the
high-back bucket seats introduced on the 1978 limited-edition
Indianapolis 500 Pace Car. A higher pivot point allowed the
seat
backrest fold more
flat and level with the luggage area floor. which drastically
improved access to the rear storage area.
As a side note, this Corvette is not a dealer auction vehicle.
We hand pick each car after careful inspection. Our
Corvettes come from owners who expect their cars to go to someone
that will give the vehicle the same care and attention as they did.
We invite and encourage you to examine the car in person or have the
car inspected. Please take the time to scrutinize each
picture. We photograph each vehicle to the greatest extent so
you can feel confident about your purchase. If you have a
question about the Corvette, just give us a call.
numbers
Please note when checking the numbers that not only do the correct
stampings and casting numbers appear on the parts, but all of the
dates are also chronologically correct. This means that all of
the parts were made and assembled in the correct order. For
example, all of the dates for the individual engine components and
the engine casting date should obviously precede the assembly date
of the engine because the parts had to be produced before they could
be assembled. All of the parts I checked follow this rule and
are dated correctly.
item
number
description*
VIN
1Z8789S411166
The first digit, "1," indicated the Chevrolet division of
GM. The "Z" is the series, Corvette. The "87" is
the body style, 2-door sport coupe. The fifth digit is
the engine, 8, correct for an L48 car. The sixth
digit, "9," indicates the model year, 1979. The "S" is
the plant where the car was produced, St. Louis. The
last five digits are a sequence number so this is the
11,166th Corvette made for 1979, which also places the car's
build date in November.
Body Build Date
D13
"D" corresponds to November, and the 13 is the thirteenth
day of the month meaning this Corvette's build date is
November 13, 1978
Engine Code
V1030
"V" means the engine was build in the Flint, MI plant.
The "10" is the tenth month of year and the "30" is the
thirtieth day of the month meaning the engine was assembled
on October 30, 1978.
Suffix Code
ZAB
This means the motor was intended for an L48 with an
automatic, which is correct for this car.
Engine VIN Stamping
411166
The last 6 digits of the car's VIN, 411166, are stamped on
the engine pad meaning this engine is original to this car.
Engine Block Casting Number
3970010
The engine block has the correct 3970010 casting number for
a 1979 Corvette.
Engine Block Casting Date
J 28 8
"J" is October, "28" is the twenty-eighth day of the month,
and "8" is 1978 so the engine block was cast on October 28,
1978. Which is correct as it predates the assembly
date of the engine.
Distributor
1103353
The distributor is original and correct for and L48 non ZAH
suffix code engine with 1103353 stamped on the housing,
Distributor Date Code
8K24
The "8" is the last digit of the calendar year, the "K"
denotes October, and "24" is the twenty-fourth day of the
month meaning the distributor was made on October 24, 1978.
This is correct as it predates the build dates of the
engine.
Intake Manifold Casting Number
14007376
The intake manifold is correct for an L48 with a
14007376 casting number.
Intake Manifold Casting Date
J 17 8
"J" is October, "17" is the seventeenth day of the month,
and "8" is 1978 so the intake manifold was cast on October
17, 1978. Which is correct as it predates the assembly
date of the engine.
Carburetor Main Body
17059284
The first thress digits, "170," indicate the carb was made
after 1976. The fourth digit, "5," means the carb was
built for 1976 - 79 production. The fifth digit,
"9," means it was built for the 1979 model year. The
six digit, "2," indicates that it is a 4BBL carb. The
seventh digit indicates the division of GM, but "8" is not
listed in my book . The last digit, "4," means it was
intended for use in an automatic transmission car such as
this.
Carburetor Date Code
2338
The first three digits, "233" indicate the 233rd day of the
year. The last digit, "8" is the year it was produced,
1978. So the carburetor was stamped on August
21, 1978.
Starter
1109065
The starter has the stamping, 1109065, for an early 1979
Corvette with an automatic transmission.
Starter Date Code
8K21
The "8" is the last digit of the calendar year, the "K"
denotes October, and "21" is the twenty-first day of the
month meaning the starter was made on October 21, 1978.
This is correct as it predates the build dates of the
engine.

condition
Exterior
As stated
above, the Frost Blue
exterior
is in outstanding condition. It is virtually perfect with
hardly a nick anywhere on the car. As one can see in the
photos
the finish has dazzling gloss,
smooth finish, and deep shine.
Often times
Corvettes will have particularly chipped up front ends, this
car does not. The underside of the front end, a very
fragile part of the car, is in good condition as evidenced by
the photos.
This Corvette is equipped with aluminum wheels, which are in
excellent
condition with a nice
finish and absolutely no curb rash.
There are no major
imperfections that have been excluded from the photos.
The tires appear to have about 95% tread left. The glass
t-tops are a matched set and have no cracks or scratches.
This Corvette has absolutely NO rust issues. The
frame is totally solid with no rust in front of the rear tire
and I have seen no evidence of corrosion around the windshield.
The Corvette looks just as good in person as it does in the
photos.
Interior
The Black interior of the Corvette looks
utterly stunning. It is in near concourse quality
condition.
The seats look brilliant and literally
brand new with no rips, tears, or split seams.
They are not worn in
the typical areas such as where the driver gets in and out.
The front carpet is also in "like
new" condition with no rips, stains,
or any signs of wear. The rear carpet,
which is often neglected also
looks great. The door panels are in nice shape and,
unlike many Corvettes of this age, they fit well and tight to
the door.
There is
one small nick on the passenger's door panel, but, as one can
see in the photos, it is hardly noticeable at all. There
is also a small chip on the edge of the passenger door glass,
there is a specific photos of the spot.
The console and
dash are in great condition with no fading or sun damage.
The original pedal pads are not
excessively worn, and as one can see from the pictures, show
normal wear for a car with this mileage.
The original jack and handle are still with the car and
pictured below. This car has not been smoked in; there is
no aroma whatsoever. Corvette interiors are not known to
wear well and the excellent condition of this interior
is a testament
to the meticulous care this car has received.
The interior looks just as good in person as it does in the
photos.
Mechanical
This car is in awesome mechanical
condition, it has no issues and is ready to be enjoyed. It
is an exceptional driver that is
tight on the road and at highway speeds.
The brakes are responsive and do not pull to one side or the
other. There is no smoke when starting or driving the car.
It starts right away every time, idles well, and runs well.
The car has some new bushing, which are still a little squeaky
at times. The transmission shifts smoothly throughout the
power band. Also, the engine compartment is beautifully
clean and detailed as one can see in the photos. This
Corvette has plenty of power and is very fast.
The horn works as
do the headlights, headlight override vacuum switch, all gauges
(with the
obvious exception of the clock),
all interior and exterior lights, power windows, power antenna,
and wipers.
The only items I am aware of on the car that do not work are
the cruise the a/c. The compressor is free and not locked
up so the system most likely needs to be recharged.
These are minor
issues that are present on the majority of Corvettes we
encounter from this era, that do no affect drivability, and that
most owners would not disclose.
Not enough can be said as to how much of a pleasure it is to
drive this car, especially with the t-tops out on a beautiful
day.
Overall
Condition
Overall this Corvette is in magnificent
condition. It is truly one of the nicest 1979 Corvettes on
the market right now.
The unbelievable paint, interior, and
superior overall condition make this Corvette especially
important and nearly impossible to duplicate. Numbers
matching and originality are extremely important in Corvette
pricing, and as you can see this car very original and correct.
In addition, this car is also optioned with a very rare and
super desirable color combination. The value of the late
C3 body style cars has gone up drastically in the past few
years. They are all solid investments for a collector.
Cars like this are the Barrett Jackson stars of the future.
Someone could drive and enjoy this vehicle for several years and
sell it for more than the purchase price.
