about our dealership
Seven Hills Motorcars is Cincinnati's premier Corvette specialist and a licensed and registered auto dealer by the State of Ohio.  With many years of focused experience I specialize in 1957 to 1982 Corvettes.  There is no other dealership that can better meet your needs if you would like to buy, sell, or just find out more information about your Corvette.  This is simply a one man operation, and this is not my full time employment.  I do it because I enjoy it.  I am a collector and enthusiast and therefore look for cars that excite me.  I do not purchase at dealer auctions; each car is hand picked by me because it is special or rare to me and because I like it.

vehicle description

Seven Hills Motorcars is glad to offer this 1979 Corvette that is an excellent driver and priced to sell.  This car has been driven just under 87,600 miles since new.  The car is totally solid and rust free.  The car looks nice and is a blast to drive.  This is an excellent opportunity to own a classic Corvette that is ready to be used and enjoyed at an unbeatable value.  One could easily buy this car now and sell it for more than your purchase price with minimal work and effort.  The low mileage is supported by the clear Ohio title, pictured below, showing the mileage as "actual."

While this car is not completely numbers matching, it does have a 350ci Chevrolet V8.  The casting number on the block is 3970010, which was a very widely used block for Chevrolet.  It was also used in Corvettes from 1969 to 1979.  This car has always received complements whenever I have driven it.  I invite and encourage you to look at the Corvette in person.

"The Corvette evolution continues" announced the slogan from the 1979 Corvette sales catalog.  The L48 engine received the dual-snorkel air intake introduced in 1978 for the optional L82 V-8, which added 10 horsepower.  All Corvettes in 1979 now had the high-back bucket seats introduced on the 1978 limited-edition Indianapolis 500 Pace Car.  A higher pivot point allowed the seat backrest fold more flat and level with the luggage area floor. which drastically improved access to the rear storage area.

As a side note, this Corvette is not a dealer auction vehicle.  Our Corvettes come from owners who expect their cars to go to someone that will give the vehicle the same care and attention as they did.  We invite and encourage you to examine the car in person or have the car inspected.  Please take the time to scrutinize each picture.  We photograph each vehicle to the greatest extent so you can feel confident about your purchase.  If you have a question about the Corvette, just give us a call.

condition

Exterior

The red exterior paint is in presentable driver condition.  The paint has a smooth finish and a high gloss.  The wheels look great and have absolutely no curb rash on the beauty rings.  This Corvette features a one piece lift off "Astro-Roof" type top.  There are no major spots or blemishes in the paint that have been intentionally excluded from the photos.  I have done my best to accurately and objectively photograph the car and show all of the flaws, but some are too small or cannot be picked up by the camera.  One should really view the car in person to get the best and most accurate idea of what the car really looks like.  For the most part however, the car looks in person as it does in the photos with some blemishes, but nothing that really stands out from about ten to twenty feet back The tires are in nice shape with about 90% of tread left.  There are no rust issues with this car.  The frame is solid with no rust in front of the rear tire around the "key hole" and there no rust visible on the "A" pillar around the windshield.

Window Date Codes

Windshield: CJ - "C" denotes November and "J" denotes 1978 meaning this piece of glass was made in November of 1978.

Driver's: YJ - "Y" denotes October and "J" denotes 1978 meaning this piece of glass was made in October of 1978.

Passenger: YJ -
"T" denotes October and "J" denotes 1978 meaning this piece of glass was made in October of 1978.

Rear: CJ -
"C" denotes November and "J" denotes 1978 meaning this piece of glass was made in November of 1978.

Please note that all of the glass on this car is date coded and original as all pieces predate the car's body build date of November 28, 1978.   Original glass is a good indication that this car has had no major accident history and never sustained significant damage.

Interior

The interior of this Corvette is in decent driver condition.  The seats are not excessively worn for the mileage and look in person just as they do in the photos.  The carpet is in good condition with no rips, holes, or major stains This includes the rear carpet with is often neglected.  The console looks just as nice in person as they do in the photos.  The door panels are in great condition with not splits or tears.  All of the gauges work with the obvious exception of the clock and in my opinion the tach reads very slightly high.  This was not a smokers car and there is no aroma of smoke whatsoever.

Mechanical

This car is in good mechanical condition.  The car starts right away every time, idles well, runs well.  There are no issues that affect the drivability of the car.  The car drives well; it is smooth on the road and at highway speeds.  According to the previous owner, the engine has been rebuilt.  This makes sense as there is a plaque on the valve cover from the shop that supposedly did the rebuild.  This car has plenty of power and is very fast.  It features an aluminum Edelbrock intake with a Holly carburetor.  I have not checked the final drive ratio, but the car drives like it has 4.11 gears so it is very fast off the line.  The car has a very aggressive and healthy exhaust note and also sounds like it has a mild cam.  The turn signals work, but the stalk does not click in for the left.  The power locks, power antenna, cruise control, and horn do not work, which are all very common issues on this vintage Corvette.  There may be other troubles with the car that I have possibly overlooked so I would suggest that the buyer inspect the car in person if possible.  When we purchased the car it did not have a belt on the a/c pump.  The compressor is free and not seized.  Also, the clutch on the compressor activates properly when the a/c is sleeted on the climate control.  We have not tried the a/c, but a new belt is included with the car.  None of the problems I have noticed make the car unusable in its current state, but in an attempt to be totally honest I must disclose them.  The vacuum for the headlights works as both lights pop up with the headlight switch or override switch as they should.  This car is a pleasure and very much to drive, especially with the t-tops out on a nice day.

Overall
Condition

Overall, this 1979 Corvette is in good condition.  This car is a great value and I have priced it accordingly with all of the good and bad points in mind.  This car turns heads and gets ton of attentions wherever it goes.  This era Corvette is an excellent choice today and in the future as an investment.  One could enjoy this vehicle for several years and sell it for more than your purchase price with minimal effort.  Thank you for looking and please email or call with any questions.
