about our dealership
Seven Hills Motorcars is Cincinnati's premier Corvette specialist and a licensed and registered auto dealer by the State of Ohio.  With many years of focused experience I specialize in 1963 to 2004 Corvettes.  There is no other dealership that can better meet your needs if you would like to buy, sell, or just find out more information about your Corvette.  This is simply a one man operation, and this is not my full time employment.  I do it because I enjoy it.  I am a collector and enthusiast and therefore look for cars that excite me.  I do not purchase at dealer auctions; each car is hand picked by me because it is special or rare to me and because I like it.

vehicle description

Seven Hills Motorcars is proud to offer this 1979 Chevrolet Corvette.  We have had the great opportunity to acquire this low mileage Corvette in excellent condition.  The Corvette has just over 81,600 original miles.  The Corvette is one of the most desirable color combinations, silver on oyster leather.  The underside of the car has been painted Charcoal Metallic.  The paint scheme is very handsome and reminiscent of the combination GM used for the 1978 Silver Anniversary Corvette.

This is a correct numbers matching car with the last 6 digits of the VIN, 419588, appearing on the engine block.  Also pictured on the trim pad is the car's build date, "F19."  "F" denotes January and "19" is the 19th day of the month meaning this car was completed on January 19, 1979.  This is confirmed by the sticker on the driver's door (pictured) showing the build date as "01/71."  The engine pad also shows the engine assembly date, "0101," which corresponds to January 8, 1979.  This is correct as it predates the car's build date.  The suffix code on the engine pad is "ZAH," which is correct for an L48 with an automatic transmission.

"The Corvette evolution continues" announced the slogan from the 1979 Corvette sales catalog.  The L48 engine received the dual-snorkel air intake introduced in 1978 for the optional L82 V-8, which added 10 horsepower.  All Corvettes in 1979 now had the high-back bucket seats introduced on the 1978 limited-edition Indianapolis 500 Pace Car.  A higher pivot point allowed the seat backrest fold more flat and level with the luggage area floor. which drastically improved access to the rear storage area.

As a side note, this Corvette is not a dealer auction vehicle.  I hand pick each car after careful inspection.  The cars I sell come from owners who expect their Corvette to go to someone that will give the vehicle the same care and attention as they did.  Please take the time to examine each picture I have provided.  I photograph each vehicle to the greatest extent so you can feel confident about your purchase.  If you have a question about the Corvette, please feel free to give me a call.

With the current economic crisis some may be apprehensive about the purchase of a classic car at this time.  However, now is the best time to buy based on historical events.  October 19, 1987 is referred to as "Black Monday" when the stock market crashed and fell 22.6% in one day.  Following that event, the collector car market skyrocketed as people lost confidence in other financial instruments and assets such as stocks.  Investors see vintage cars as a very safe investment that will continue to appreciate despite other financial markets and influences.  If history is any indication, then collector cars and other tangible collectibles will be some of the best investments in the next few years to come.

condition

  Exterior

The Corvette’s paint is in fine condition.  The paint has a great gloss.   Many "rubber bumper" Corvettes suffer from ill-fitting and shrunken front and rear bumpers, this car does not The body panel fit, including the rubber bumpers, is very good.  Poorly fitting bumpers are a great sign of bad body work and/or accident history.  There are also some small blemishes in the paint around the car.  Some are visible in the photos and there are some that were too small to show up in the photos,  but nothing that is really noticeable from ten feet away.  This Corvette came equipped with aluminum wheels, which are in excellent condition with a nice finish.

Window Date Codes

Windshield: CG - "C" denotes November and "G" denotes 7 meaning this piece of glass was made in November of 1977.
Driver's: VJ - "V" denotes December and "J" denotes 8 meaning this piece of glass was made in November of 1978.
Passenger: CJ - "C" denotes November and "J" denotes 8 meaning this piece of glass was made in November of 1978.
Rear: TJ - "J" denotes August and "J" denotes 8 meaning this piece of glass was made in November of 1978.

All of the side glass on this car is original and correct as all pieces predate the car's body build date of January 19, 1979.   Original glass is another great indication that this car has no major accident history.

Interior

The interior on this Corvette is in great driver condition.  The Oyster leather seats show no wear and look literally brand new.  The seat is not worn through in the typical places, such as where the driver gets in and out of the car.  The dash and console are not cracked or sun faded at all.  The carpet is in nice original condition.  This includes the rear carpet with is often neglected.  There are no major rips or stains in the carpet.  There are 2 holes, right by the bottom of the seat on each side in front.  I have specifically taken photos of this area on each side to show how unnoticeable this flaw is.  Detail items, such as the fit of the carpet against the center console shows that this car has diligently cared for and not been molested.  The car has never been smoked in, there is no ash in the ashtray or aroma what so ever.

Mechanical

This car is in excellent mechanical condition.  It starts easily, runs well, and idles well.  The 3 Speed transmission shifts smoothly throughout the power band.  The car is very tight on the road and highway and also brakes strongly and perfectly straight.  The headlights go up and down as they should with both the headlight switch, and the headlight override vacuum switch.  All of the gauges work with the exception of the clock, which is a very common issue.  The only other items on the car that are do not work are the cruise control, the parking brake, and power antenna, which is also another very common issue.  There are no issue with the drivability or reliability of this car.

Overall

This Corvette is a great driver and will make someone a great car.  Overall the Corvette is in great driver condition.  The vehicle is numbers matching, which is a must for any Corvette that can be taken seriously as a investment or show car.  The prices of the late C3 generation Corvettes have increased drastically over the past several years.  They are all solid investments for a collector.  You can drive and enjoy this vehicle for several years and sell it for more than your purchase price.  The Corvette always turns heads and is admired by every car enthusiast.  Thank you for looking and have a nice day.
