Seven Hills Motorcars is
Cincinnati's premier Corvette specialist anda
licensed and registered auto dealer by the State of Ohio. With
many years of focused experience I specialize in 1957 to 1982 Corvettes.
There is no other dealership that can better meet your needs if you
would like to buy, sell, or just find out more information about your
Corvette. This is simply a one man operation, and this is not my
full time employment. I do it because I enjoy it. I am a
collector and enthusiast and therefore look for cars that excite me.
I do not purchase at dealer auctions; each car is hand picked by me
because it is special or rare to me and because I like it.

Seven Hills Motorcars is very proud to offer this completely
numbers matching 1980 Corvette in awesome driver condition.
This car has the extremely rare and highly desirable optional
4-Speed manual transmission.
It is finished in the beautiful
color combination of Black over Red Leather.
This is the original and correct color scheme, verified by the trim
tag pictured below. Black/Red is one of the hottest color
schemes for a Corvette right now and this combination is
particularly attractive. The mileage is indicated as "Actual"
on the clear Ohio title, pictured below. Please peruse all of
the photos and numbers below to get a true sense of how clean and
correct this Corvette really is.
Corvette was lighter than the previous year and featured new bumper
caps, cleaner lines, and integrated spoilers. The body style
was highly modernized in 1980 by these changes. The vehicle
also become much more aerodynamic with these changes, with a drag
coefficient .503 in 1979 to .443. 1980 was the last year for
the much more desirable fully mechanical fuel and ignition systems.
1981 went to the "computer command control" system, which is much
more prone to issues.
As a side note, this Corvette is not a dealer auction vehicle.
We hand pick each car after careful inspection. Our
Corvettes come from owners who expect their cars to go to someone
that will give the vehicle the same care and attention as they did.
We invite and encourage you to examine the car in person or have the
car inspected. Please take the time to scrutinize each
picture. We photograph each vehicle to the greatest extent so
you can feel confident about your purchase. If you have a
question about the Corvette, just give us a call.
Please note when checking the numbers that not only do the correct
stampings and casting numbers appear on the parts, but all of the
dates are also chronologically correct. This means that all of
the parts were made and assembled in the correct order. For
example, all of the dates for the individual engine components and
the engine casting date should obviously precede the assembly date
of the engine because the parts had to be produced before they could
be assembled. All of the parts I checked follow this rule and
are dated correctly.
The first digit, "1," indicated the Chevrolet division of
GM. The "Z" is the series, Corvette. The "87" is
the body style, 2-door sport coupe. The fifth digit is
the engine, 8, correct for an L48 car. The sixth
digit, "A," indicates the model year, 1980. The "S" is
the plant where the car was produced, St. Louis. The
last five digits are a sequence number so this is the
10,203rd Corvette made for 1980.
Body Build Date
"C" corresponds to December, and the 12 is the twelfth day
of the month meaning this Corvette's build date is December
"V" means the engine was build in the Flint, MI plant.
The "11" is the eleventh month of year and the "27" is the
twenty-seventh day of the month meaning the engine was
assembled on November 27, 1979.
This means the motor was intended for an L48 with a manual
transmission, which is correct for this car.
Engine VIN Stamping
The last 6 digits of the car's VIN, 410203,
are stamped on the engine pad meaning this engine is
original to this car.
Engine Block Casting Number
The engine block has the correct 14010207 casting number for
a 1980 Corvette.
Engine Block Casting Date
K 19 9
"K" is November, "19" is the nineteenth day of the month,
and "9" is 1979 so the engine block was cast on November 19,
1979. Which is correct as it predates the assembly
date of the engine.
The distributor is original and correct for and L48 and
4-Speed transmission with 1103287 stamped on the housing,
Distributor Date Code
The "9" is the last digit of the calendar year, the "J"
denotes September, and "21" is the twenty-first day of the
month meaning the distributor was made on September 21,
1979. This is correct as it predates the build dates
of the engine.
Intake Manifold Casting Number
The intake manifold is correct for an L48 with a
14014432 casting number.
Carburetor Main Body
The carburetor has the correct stamping for a 1980 manual
L48 Corvette. The first thress digits, "170," indicate
teh carb was made after 1976. The fourth digit, "8,"
means the carb was built for 1980's production. The
fifth digit, "0," means it was built for the 1980
model year. The six digit, "2," indicates that it is a
4BBL carb. The seventh digit, "0," means is was
built for the Chevrolet division of GM. The last
digit, "7," means it was intended for use in manual
transmission car such as this.
Carburetor Date Code
The first three digits, "323" indicate the 323rd day of the
year. The last digit, "9" is the year it was produced,
1979. So the carburetor was stamped on November
The bell housing has is correct with a 464697 casting
Transmission Main Case
1304 065 903
The main case of the transmission has the correct 1304 065
903 casting number for a 1980 Corvette.

is in great driver condition. As one can see in the photos
the finish has dazzling gloss,
smooth finish, and deep shine.
Corvettes will have particularly chipped up front ends, this
car does not. The underside of the front end, a very
fragile part of the car, is in good condition as evidenced by
This Corvette is equipped with aluminum wheels, which still
retain a very nice finish.
There are no major
imperfections that have been excluded from the photos.
There are some small spots and blemishes that were too faint to
show up in photos, but nothing that is really noticeable from
five or ten feet away. The tires appear to have about 80%
tread left. The glass t-tops operate properly and are
structurally sound, but the right top has a visible crack and
both tops have trim in the corner. The crack is barely
noticeable from the outside as once can see in the photos, but
is visible from the inside looking up.
The Corvette looks just as good in person as it does in the
The Red Leather interior of the Corvette
is also in fantastic condition.
The seats look brilliant and literally
brand new with no rips, tears, or split seams.
They are not worn in
the typical areas such as where the driver gets in and out.
The carpet is in good condition
with no holes or stains.
This includes the rear carpet, which is often neglected.
All of the gauges work with the obvious exception of the clock.
The cargo cover is not ripped or torn and operates properly.
The jack and jack handle are still present and correctly stowed
in the storage compartment.
This car has no aroma of cigarette smoke whatsoever.
The interior looks just as good in person as it does in the
This car is in good mechanical
condition. It is a wonderful driver that is feels great
on the road and at highway speeds.
There are no issues that immediately affect the drivability of
brakes are responsive. There is no smoke when starting or
driving the car. This Corvette starts right away every
time, idles well, and runs well. As with most older
carbureted vehicles, this car is cold blooded. The engine
compartment is beautifully detailed as one can see in the
clutch feels good.
The transmission does make some noise,
most noticeably in second and third gear. The shifter
works okay and is totally functional, but it seems like it could
use some overall adjustment and also contacts the front edge of
the center console.
This Corvette has plenty of power and is very fast.
The horn works as
do the headlights, fan for the heater and a/c, wipers (although
the switch is very touchy),
all interior and exterior lights, and power windows.
The parking brake is weak. The only item I am aware of on
the car that does not work is the a/c. The compressor is
free and not locked up so the system most likely needs to be
recharged. Not enough can be said as to how much of a
pleasure it is to drive this car, especially with the 4-speed
transmission and the t-tops out on a beautiful day.
Overall this Corvette is in magnificent
condition. The 4-speed transmission makes this car
particularly rare and highly desirable. Numbers matching
and originality are extremely important in Corvette pricing, and
as you can see this car very original and correct. In
addition, this car is also optioned with a very rare and
desirable color combination. The value of the late C3 body
style cars has gone up dramatically in the past few years.
They are all solid investments for a collector. Cars like
this are the Barrett Jackson stars of the future. Someone
could drive and enjoy this vehicle for several years and sell it
for more than the purchase price.
