about the dealership
Seven Hills Motorcars is Cincinnati's premier Corvette specialist and a licensed and registered auto dealer by the State of Ohio.  With many years of focused experience I specialize in 1957 to 1982 Corvettes.  There is no other dealership that can better meet your needs if you would like to buy, sell, or just find out more information about your Corvette.  This is simply a one man operation, and this is not my full time employment.  I do it because I enjoy it.  I am a collector and enthusiast and therefore look for cars that excite me.  I do not purchase at dealer auctions; each car is hand picked by me because it is special or rare to me and because I like it.

vehicle description

Seven Hills Motorcars is very proud to offer this completely numbers matching 1980 Corvette in spectacular condition  with just under 44,900 original miles.  This car looks and drives awesome, needs nothing, and is ready to be driven and enjoyed.  This car is finished in the most desirable color combinations for a Corvette, Red/Red.  Fortunately, this is the original color combination for the car, verified by the trim tag, pictured below.  The very low mileage is supported by not only the condition of the car, but also the clear Ohio title, pictured below, showing the mileage as "actual."  This Corvette is an exceptional driver and I wouldn't hesitate to hop in and take a road trip.  Please peruse all of the photos and numbers below to get a true sense of how clean and correct this Corvette really is.

The 1980 Corvette was lighter than the previous year and featured new bumper caps, cleaner lines, and integrated spoilers.  The body style was highly modernized in 1980 by these changes.  The vehicle also become much more aerodynamic with these changes, with a drag coefficient .503 in 1979 to .443.  1980 was the last year for the much more desirable fully mechanical fuel and ignition systems.  1981 went to the "computer command control" system, which is much more prone to issues.

As a side note, this Corvette is not a dealer auction vehicle.  We hand pick each car after careful inspection.  Our Corvettes come from owners who expect their cars to go to someone that will give the vehicle the same care and attention as they did.  We invite and encourage you to examine the car in person or have the car inspected.  Please take the time to scrutinize each picture.  We photograph each vehicle to the greatest extent so you can feel confident about your purchase.  If you have a question about the Corvette, just give us a call.

numbers

item number description*
VIN 1Z878AS415207 The first digit, "1," indicated the Chevrolet division of GM.  The "Z" is the series, Corvette.  The "87" is the body style, 2-door sport coupe.  The fifth digit is the engine, 8, correct for an L48 car.  The sixth digit, "A," indicates the model year, 1980.  The "S" is the plant where the car was produced, St. Louis.  The last five digits are a sequence number so this is the 15,207th Corvette made in 1980.
Body Build Date D24 "D" corresponds to January, and the 24 is the twenty-fourth day of the month meaning this Corvette's build date is January 24, 1980.
Engine Code V0114 "V" means the engine was build in the Flint, MI plant.  The "01" is the first month of year and the "14" is the fourteenth day of the month meaning the engine was assembled on January 14, 1980.
Suffix Code ZAK This means the motor was intended for an L48 with an automatic transmission, which is correct for this car.
Engine VIN Stamping 415207 The last 6 digits of the car's VIN, 415207, are stamped on the engine pad meaning this engine is original to this car.
Engine Block Casting Number 10410207 The engine block has the correct 10410207 casting number.
Engine Block Casting Date A 10 0 "A" is January, "10" is the tenth day of the month, and "0" is 1980 so the engine block was cast on January 10, 1980.  Which is correct as it predates the assembly date of the engine.
Distributor 1103353 The distributor is original and correct with 1103353 stamped on the housing,
Distributor Date Code 9L18 The "9" is the last digit of the calendar year, the "L" denotes November, and "18" is the eighteenth day of the month meaning the distributor was made on November 18, 1979.  This is correct as it predates the build dates of the engine.
Intake Manifold Casting Number 14014433 The intake manifold has a 14014433 casting number.
Carburetor Main Body 17080204 The carburetor has the correct stamping for a 1980 350ci L48 Corvette.  The fourth digit, "8," means the carb was built in the 1980's.  The fifth digit,  "0," means it was built for the 1980 model year.  The six digit, "2," indicates that it is a 4BBL carb.  The seventh digit,  "0," means is was built for the Chevrolet division of GM.  The last digit, "4," means it was intended for use in an automatic car such as this.
Carburetor Date Code 0030 The first three digits, "003" indicate the third day of the year.  The last digit, "0" is the year it was produced, 1980.  So the carburetor  was stamped on January 3, 1980.
Driver's Window CA "C" is November and "A" is 1979 so this window was made in November of 1979.  This is correct as it predates the build date of the car.
Passenger  Window AJ "A" is September and "J" is 1978 so this window was made in September of 1978.  This is correct as it predates the build date of the car.
Rear  Window VA "V" is December and "A" is 1979 so this window was made in December of 1979.  This is correct as it predates the build date of the car.

condition

Exterior

The red exterior is in nice driver condition.  As one can see in the photos the finish has dazzling gloss and smooth finish.  Often many Corvettes will have particularly chipped up front ends, this car does not.  The underside of the front end, a very fragile part of the car, is in great condition as evidenced by the photos.  This Corvette came equipped with aluminum wheels, which are in excellent condition with a brilliant finish and absolutely no curb rash.  There are no major imperfections that have been excluded from the photos.  There are some small blemishes, touch ups, and checking that were too faint to show up in photos, but nothing that is really noticeable from five or ten feet away.  The frame shows no rust and is totally solid as is everything else on the car.

The car looks just as good in person as it does in the photos.

Please note that the side glass on this Corvette is date coded and most likely original to the car as each piece predates the build date of January 24, 1980.  Original glass is a good indication that the car has not been in a major accident and never sustained significant damage.

Interior

The red interior of the Corvette is also in fantastic condition.  The seats show virtually no wear.  They look in person just as they do in the photos, with no slits, tears, or split seams.  They are not worn in the typical areas such as where the driver gets in and out.  The carpet is in like new condition as well with no stains, rips, or holes This includes the rear carpet which is often neglected.  The console is in great condition and fits well.  The door panels are in great shape with no splits or tears.  The dash is not cracked or sun faded at all.  This car has not been smoked in; there are no burn marks or aroma whatsoever.  The original pedal pads are not excessively worn, and as one can see from the pictures, show normal wear for a car with this mileage.  Corvette interiors are not known to wear well and the excellent condition of this interior is a testament to the meticulous care this car has received throughout it's life

The interior looks just as good in person as it does in the photos.

Mechanical

This car is in awesome mechanical condition and is an exceptional driver.  It is tight on the road and at highway speeds; the car drivers terrifically.  The transmission shifts smoothly.  The brakes are responsive and do not pull to one side or the other.  The car starts right away every time and runs well.  This Corvette has plenty of power and it is very fast.  There is no smoke when starting or driving the car.  The horn works as do the headlights, headlight override vacuum switch, gauges, all interior and exterior lights, power windows, and wipers.  The only items I am aware of on the car that do not work are the a/c, which most likely needs to be recharged, and obviously the clock.  Not enough can be said as to how much of a pleasure it is to drive this car, especially with t-tops out on a beautiful day.

Overall
Condition

This Corvette is in magnificent condition.  The vehicle is numbers matching, which is a must for any Corvette that can be taken seriously as a investment or show car.  The extra desirable color combination and very low mileage make this particular car especially collectible.  Corvettes from 1980 to 1982 are becoming highly desirable and have continued to appreciate in value over recent years.  They are solid investments and will provide you with years of enjoyment.  One could drive and enjoy this car for a few years and then sell it for more than the purchase price.

Thank you for looking and please email or call with any questions.
