Seven Hills Motorcars is
proud to offer this
1980 Corvette in nice driver condition with low original mileage. This Corvette looks great
and runs well. This is an original California Corvette with the
California specific VIN and engine suffix code; it also has the
factory high performance Gymkhana suspension. We purchased the
car from a gentleman in Dayton, OH. He had owned the car for about 3 years and during that time he spent over $3,400 in maintenance and
repairs on the car. There are receipts pictured below and included
with the car that shows the work completed.
The previous owner
said that he received this Corvette from his grandfather who
had bought the car in the early 1980's. I drove the car back
from Dayton to our dealership in Cincinnati, about an hour
away, and the car drove and ran great with no issues on the
trip. This is an excellent opportunity to own a classic Corvette
that is ready to be used and enjoyed at an unbeatable value. One
could easily buy this car now and sell it for more than the purchase
price in years to come as the market on the 1980 and 1981 Corvettes
is strong right now and on the rise. The low original mileage is
verified not only by the condition of the car, but also the
clear Ohio title, pictured below, that state the mileage as
"Actual." Please peruse all of the
photos, list of numbers, video, and information below to get a true sense of
how nice and clean this Corvette really is.
1980 Corvette was lighter than the previous year and
featured new bumper caps, cleaner lines, and integrated
spoilers. The body style was highly modernized in 1980 by
these changes. The vehicle also become much more aerodynamic
with these changes, with a drag coefficient .503 in 1979 to
.443. 1980 was the last year for the much more desirable
fully mechanical fuel and ignition systems. 1981 went to the
"computer command control" system, which is much more prone
Please note when checking the numbers that not only do the
correct stampings and casting numbers appear on the parts, but
all of the dates are also chronologically correct. This
means that all of the parts were made and assembled in the
correct order. For example, all of the dates for the
individual engine components and the engine casting date should
obviously precede the assembly date of the engine because the
parts had to be produced before they could be assembled.
Most of the parts I checked follow this rule and are dated
The first digit, "1," indicated the Chevrolet division of
GM. The "Z" is the series, Corvette. The "87" is the body
style, 2-door sport coupe. The fifth digit is the engine, H,
correct for a California Corvette. The sixth digit, "A,"
indicates the model year, 1980. The "S" is the plant where
the car was produced, St. Louis. The last five digits are a
sequence number so this is the 21,135th Corvette made for
Body Build Date
"F" corresponds to March, and "08" is the
eighth day of the
month meaning this Corvette's body build date is March 8, 1980.
"T" means the engine was build in the
The "02" is the second month of year and the
"28" is the
twenty-eighth day of the month meaning the engine was assembled on
February 28, 1980. This is correct as it precedes the build
date of the car.
This means the motor was intended for a 305ci Corvette with an automatic transmission
and California specifications, which is correct for this car.
Engine VIN Stamping
The last 6 digits of the car's VIN,
421135, are stamped on
the engine pad and pictured below meaning this engine is original to this car.
Engine Block Casting Number
The engine block has the correct 10410202 casting number,
which is correct for a California 1980 Corvette.
Engine Block Casting Date
L 17 79
"L" is December, "17" is the
seventeenth day of the month, and
"79" is the calendar year so the engine
block was cast on December 17, 1979.
The distributor is original and correct
for a 1980 California Corvette with an automatic transmission with a 1103368
Distributor Date Code
The "9" is the last digit of the calendar year, the "E"
denotes May, and "17" is the seventeenth day of the month
meaning the distributor was made on May 17, 1979.
Intake Manifold Casting Number
The intake manifold has the correct 14014432 casting number.

exterior is in good driver condition. As one can see in the
photos the finish has nice gloss and deep shine. Both doors open and shut nicely. The N90 aluminum wheels and center caps are in good
condition with a nice finish and no major curb rash. The tires
are almost brand new and are correctly sized 255/60R15. There is
a receipt below for new BF Goodrich tires. There is some crazing in
the paint and other small imperfections around the car that
were too small to show up in
pictures, but nothing else that is really noticeable from about ten feet away. As
one expect from a California car and as one can see in the many photos of the underside of
the car, this Corvette has NO RUST ISSUES. The frame is totally
solid with no rust around the "key hole" are in front of the
rear tire and I have seen no evidence of corrosion around the
windshield, which are the two most notorious spots for rust on a

red interior of the Corvette is in good original
condition. The seats look just in person just as they do in
the photos and do show some wear. The carpet is also in
great original condition with no major stains or holes.
This includes the rear carpet, which is often neglected. The
console and dash are in great condition with no cracks or
sun damage. The door panels are in terrific shape. The door pulls are solid and intact.
The original radio still works and most importantly the
original dash has never been cut or modified for an
aftermarket installation. Even the cassette player still
works as one can see in the video. This Corvette has
never been smoked in, there are no burns marks and no aroma
of cigarettes. Corvette interiors from this era are not known to
wear well, and the good condition of this original interior is a huge testament to the
this car has received throughout its life.
The interior looks just as good in person as it does in the
This Corvette seems to be in good mechanical condition. The car
starts right away every time. It drives nice and feels good on
the road and at highway speeds especially with the high
performance Gymkhana suspension, as stated above it recently
completed a short road trip with no issues. In the video below one can
observe the car accelerating on the highway up to about 70mph,
shifting through all the gears, braking to stoplight, and going
through some curves. Please note that there are no vibrations
and the car performs quite well overall. There is no blue smoke
when starting or driving the car. The transmission shifts
smoothly throughout the power band. The car comes with receipts
that total over $3,400 over that last 3 years. Some of the
work completed includes:
All new brake calipers
All new brake rotors Brake pads New rubber brake
lines Parking brake shoes and hardware Universal
joints BF Goodrich tires Spark plugs Ignition
Wires Distributor Cap and Rotor V-Belts Air
Filter Fuel Filter
Also, the engine compartment is
beautifully clean and detailed as one can see in the photos;
even the original smog pump is still in place. The
wipers work as do all the exterior lights, power windows,
of the gauges with the obvious exception of the clock. The car could use some tuning to
the idle and the horn does not work.. The power door locks click, but do not move
the locks. The entire vacuum system for the
headlights works correctly with no effort or binding in the
mechanism. Also, the headlights
go up correctly with either the headlight switch or vacuum
override switch. Their complete operation from both switches can
be observed in the video below. The a/c system is complete and there is belt on
the compressor, but it does not blow cold. The blower
for the heater and a/c works on all speeds.
The car runs
and drives just as great as it looks.
Overall, this 1980 Corvette is in
wonderful driver condition. Numbers matching is extremely
important in Corvette pricing, especially with low
mileage examples like this car. The originality, the
great condition, and the great extent to which the
numbers match make this car especially important and
hard to duplicate. This Corvette always gets a ton of attention
driving down the road. It is apparent that the vehicle
has been well taken care of by its previous owners. The
prices of C3 Corvettes have increased considerably over
the past several years. They are secure and wise
investments for a collector. One could easily enjoy this
vehicle for several years and sell it for more than the
purchase price with minimal effort.
