about our dealership
Seven Hills Motorcars is Cincinnati's premier Corvette specialist.   We are a licensed and registered auto dealer by the State of Ohio.  With many years of focused experience I specialize in 1963 to 2004 Corvettes.  There is no other dealership that can better meet your needs if you would like to buy, sell, or just find out more information about your Corvette.  This is simply a one man operation, and this is not my full time employment.  I do it because I enjoy it.  I am a collector and enthusiast and therefore look for cars that excite me.  I do not purchase at dealer auctions; each car is hand picked by me because it is special or rare to me and because I like it.

corvette  description

Seven Hills Motorcars is proud to offer this numbers matching 1981 Corvette.  This Corvette is one of the most desirable  color combinations, Red over Camel Leather.  The car is its original color combination, which can be verified by the trim tag numbers, which are pictured below.  This is a correct numbers matching car with the last 6 digits of the VIN, 401807, appearing on the engine pad.  This car was finished on September 9, 1980.  This is verified by the code "C31" on the trim tag, "B" means September and "09" is the ninth day of the month.

As a side note, this Corvette is not a dealer auction vehicle.  We hand pick each car after careful inspection.  Our cars come from owners who expect their cars to go to someone that will give the vehicle the same care and attention as they did.  We invite and encourage you to examine the car in person or have the car inspected.  Please take the time to examine each picture.  We photograph each vehicle to the greatest extent so you can feel confident about bidding.  If you have a question about the Corvette, just give us a call.

corvette  condition

Exterior

The Red exterior paint is in presentable condition.  The paint has an nice gloss and is very shiny.  Often Corvettes of this vintage will have chipped up front ends or wrinkly rear spoilers, this car does not.  I have done my best to accurately photograph the car and show all of the flaws, but some spots are too small or cannot be picked up by the camera.  One should really view the car in person to get the best detailed idea of what the paint really looks like.  For the most part however, the car looks in person as it does in the photos with some blemishes in the paint.  The drivers door opens fine, but it is quite sticky.  This Corvette came equipped with aluminum wheels, which are in excellent condition with a great finish and no curb rash.  The tires are in nice shape with plenty of tread left.  There are no rust issues with this car.  There is no rust on the frame in front of the rear tire around the "key hole" and no rust visible on the "A" pillar or around the windshield.

All of the glass is date coded and original to the car as it predates the build date of September 9, 1980.  This indicates that the car has never been in a major accident and never sustained any significant damage.

Windshield: TZ - The "T" denotes August and "Z" 1980 so the windshield was made in August of 1980.

Driver: IZ - The "I" denotes June and "Z" 1980 so the driver's side window was made in June of 1980.

Passenger: IZ - The "I" denotes June and "Z" 1980 so the passenger's side window was made in June of 1980.

Rear Window: TZ - The "T" denotes August and "Z" 1980 so the rear window was made in August of 1980.

Interior

The interior of this Corvette is in nice driver condition.  The seats look very good for the mileage and show no excessive wear.  The driverís seat is not worn through in the typical places, such as where the driverís belt-line may wear the seat bolsters.  There is, however, a small spot on that seat bottom visible in the photos where the stitching is starting to pull.  The carpet is in good condition with no major rips or holes This includes the rear carpet with is often neglected.  The console and dash look just as nice in person as they do in the photos.  The door panels are in great condition and fit tightly to the door.

Mechanical

This Corvette is a very good driver.  It starts easily and emits no smoke.  1981 was the last year for the carbureted Corvettes.  Most people prefer a carbureted Corvette over the complicated fuel injected models.  The carburetors provide simple, reliable operation.  This Corvette has plenty of power and is very fast.  I would say that the car could use a good tune up and some other mechanical repair.  The 3 Speed transmission shifts smoothly throughout the power band.  The car is very tight on the road and highway and also brakes strongly and perfectly straight.  The headlights go up and down as they should with both the headlight switch, and the headlight override vacuum switch.  There are some items with the car that do not work including the a/c, "Check Engine Light," Cruise, Temp Gauges, Power Antenna, and other miscellaneous bits and pieces.  These items do not affect the drivability of the car.

Overall

Overall this Corvette is in decent driver condition.  I mush disclose that the title lists the mileage as "Exceeds Mechanical Limits."  This time of year and in this economic situation is about the best time ever to buy a car like this.  The vehicle is numbers matching, which is a must for any Corvette that can be taken seriously as a investment or show car.  One could easily buy this car now, drive and enjoy it for several years, and then sell it for more than the purchase price. This body style has increased in price rapidly over the past few years. They are now over 25 years old and will continue to increase in time. The Corvette always turns heads and is admired by every car enthusiast.
