vehicle description

Seven Hills Motorcars is proud to offer this absolutely stunning 1971 Ford "R" Code Boss 351 Mustang in exceptional fully restored condition. This Boss 351 is one of the best examples on the market and truly an investment grade car. It was treated to a nut and bolt rotisserie restoration at a cost of over $100,000 according to the previous owner. This particular example is exceptionally rare, in not only the fact that it is a true R Code Boss 351, but it is only 1 of 11 cars built with this color combination. The restoration is true concourse quality with correct finishes and even the paint markings on the underside and springs. The car was a Grand National Gold Award winner with the Mustang Club of America and the judging sheets are included with the car. There is no way a Mustang could be restored to this level of quality for any amount close to our asking price.

In addition to the full restoration this Mustang received a full rebuild of the drivetrain just this year at a cost of over $16,600. This included a complete rebuild of the engine, transmission, and rear end. There are receipts included with the car and pictured below. The work was completed by the Mustang experts at Paul's Automotive, who has an excellent reputation in the Mustang community and are specialists in Mustang engine and machine work. The engine was completely rebuilt with the correct components specific to a 1971 Boss 351, which are very rare and hard to find including a DOAE-L 4-bolt main engine block dated 0L10 (Nov 10, 1970), D1ZX crankshaft, and DOAE-D main caps. There are photos of these numbers in a binder included with the car.

This Mustang comes with a deluxe Marti report and 2 Eminger Sales invoices. The Marti report confirms this Mustang is only 1 off 11 made with these options. This Ford was built on May 3, 1971 and looks outstanding, runs great, and is an awesome driver. This is an excellent opportunity to own a rare Mustang that is ready to be used and enjoyed at an unbeatable value. The car is finished in the beautiful, rare, and highly desirable color combination of Grabber Blue (J) over White interior (5W). This is the correct and original color scheme as verified by the codes on the data tag pictured below and the Marti Report. Please peruse all of the photos, video, and other information below to get a true sense of clean and nice this Thunderbird really is.

As a side note, this Boss 351 is not a dealer auction vehicle.  We hand pick each car after careful inspection.  Our classics come from owners who expect their cars to go to someone that will give the vehicle the same care and attention as they did.  We invite and encourage you to examine the car in person or have the car inspected.  Please take the time to scrutinize each picture.  We photograph each vehicle to the greatest extent so you can feel confident about your purchase.  If you have a question about the Ford, just give us a call.

condition

Exterior

The Grabber Blue exterior is in spectacular condition. As one can see in the photos, the paint has a brilliant gloss, deep shine, and smooth finish. The chrome and other brightwork on the car looks great. The Magnum 500 chrome wheels are in excellent condition with a brilliant finish and no curb rash. F60x15 Firestone Wire Oval tires are also fitted on the car. They look great and give the car more correct period appearance, but they are also noticeable on the highway. There are no major imperfections that have been intentionally excluded from the photos. The is nick in the silver stripe, with a specific photo of the are below. A brand new silver side strip kit is included with the car if the future owner would like to replace it. As one can seen in the many photos of the underside of this Mustang it looks amazing and it is as clean underneath as it is on top. Please note that the underside is more correct than other restored Mustangs and not over restored. It has the accurate red primer with correct silver and blue overspray. There are also color coded paint markings on the driveshaft and springs.

The car looks as good in person as it does in the photos.

Interior

The White Vinyl interior in this Mustang is in absolutely fantastic condition and looks almost brand new. The seats are in excellent condition with no tears, rips, or split seams and show virtually no wear. The carpet looks terrific with no stains, rips, or holes. The door panels look new with no cracks or splits. The dash is in great condition with no cracks, fading, or sun damage. All of the gauges faces are crisp and the lenses are clear. The wood grain also looks new with no cracks or delamination. This car has never been smoked in and there is no aroma of cigarettes what so ever. The trunk is very clean and nicely detailed with the jack and correct space saver spare.

The interior looks as good in person as it does in the photos.

Mechanical

This Mustang appears to be in great mechanical condition and is ready to be enjoyed. As stated above the engine, transmission, and rear end were rebuilt this year by Mustang experts at a cost of over $16,600. The 351ci engine starts right away every time, idles well, and runs great. It is an exceptional driver that feels nice on the road and at highway speeds. In the video below one can observe the car accelerating on the highway up to about 70mph, shifting through all the gears, braking to a stoplight, and going through some curves. Please note that it shifts well, runs great, there are no strange noises or vibrations, and the car performs quite nice overall. The brakes are responsive and do not pull to one side or the other. There is no smoke when starting or driving the car. It runs cool and does not overheat. This shifter is tight, the transmission does not pop out of gear, and the clutch feels good.

The engine bay is clean, extraordinarily detailed, and correct as one can see from the photos with appropriate stencils, finishes, and decals. Even the windshield wiper motor is stenciled with a 1971 date code. The radio works as do all the exterior lights, dome light, indicators, wipers, and blower for the heater on all speeds. All of the gauges work with the obvious exception of the clock. The horn just stopped working. Not enough can be said as to how much of a pleasure it is to drive this car especially with the power from the 351 and the 4-Speed transmission.

The car runs and drives as well as it looks.

Overall Condition

Overall, this 1971 "R" Code Boss 351 Mustang is truly an exceptional vehicle and very rare being only 1 of 11. We have this car priced to sell and much below some of the other Boss 351's on the market that are no where near as clean, correct, or as well restored as this example. The cost of the restoration and engine work is much much higher than our asking price. It is a true bargain at our asking price. There is no way a similar car could be purchased and restored to this level of quality for anything near our asking price. The market on classic Mustangs has been hot and on the rise recently; this Boss 351 will make an excellent investment for the future owner.

Thank you for looking and please do not hesitate to email or call with any questions.
