10th Anniversary paint over Silver 10th Anniversary deluxe interior.
This is the factory color scheme as verified on the trim tag and
build sheet, both pictured below, and corresponding VIN. Please
peruse all of the photos below to get a true sense of clean and nice
this Trans Am really is.
As a side note, this Trans Am is not a dealer auction vehicle.

In 1979 Pontiac Released the 10th Anniversary Edition Trans
Am to commemorate the 10th Anniversary of the first Trans Am
that rolled off the line in 1969. This was a limited
production run of only 7500 Trans Ams. Really, the only
options that were available on the 10th Anniversary Trans Am
was the powertrain options. You had your choice of either
the Pontiac 400 with the 4-Speed transmission, or the Olds
403 with the automatic transmission. Out of the 7500
production cars, 1,817 were equipped with the 400/4-speed
combo, and 5,683 were equipped with the 403/auto combo.
Standard on the 10th Anniversary was the two-tone silver and
charcoal paint. This paint scheme was accented by a special
5 color hood-bird which wings extended over the hood and
onto the side fenders. The body of the car was also outlined
in a special black and red stripe package much like the
"Special Edition" striping of the earlier Special Edition
Trans Ams. There were also special badges (decals) that were
placed on the car signifying the 10th Anniversary Edition.
All of the 10th Anniversary car were nicely equipped with
the WS6 handling package, custom silver interior with "shag"
carpet and the Firebird emblem embroidered in the door
panels and also in the rear seat back. Also standard on all
10th Anniversary Trans Ams were power windows, power locks,
Air Conditioning, power trunk release.... in sort, pretty
much every option available at the time. Also, the interior
was also trimmed with a special "Engine-turned" gear shift
bezel that went nicely with the dash, which for this model
was illuminated red instead of the normal white gauges. You
really can't tell in the day, but at night it gives a whole
new feel and look to the inside. The T-tops were also a
special mirrored finish instead of the drab "smoked" finish
of T-tops seen previously. The 10th Anniversary Trans Am was
also the first time you saw the "Turbo" wheels seen on later
Special Edition Turbo, Pace Car, and other Turbo Trans Ams.
All-in-All, this wasn't your ordinary "run-of-the-mill"
Trans Am. Just about everything on this car was taken to the
next level to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of this popular
Unlike Special Edition Trans Ams of the past, this car can
easily be identified by using the VIN number as a reference.
Instead of the normal "S" or "W" to signify Firebird or
Trans Am, the 10th Anniversary has an "X" in the second
digit in the VIN number to signify it as a special 10th
and Charcoal exterior is in fully restored excellent condition.
A full cosmetic restoration was completed approximately one year
ago with less than 1000 miles driven on this stunning TA since
so the paint is almost like new. As one can see in the photos,
the paint has an awesome gloss, dazzling shine, and smooth
finish. The trim and decals show like new on the car. Often
Trans Am's will have particularly chipped up front ends; this
car does not. The low front spoiler, which is very fragile and
prone to damage, is in excellent condition as one can see in the
photos. Both bumpers are in excellent shape with no flaking
paint. The Turbo wheels are in excellent condition with no curb
rash and a great finish. The tires are literally brand new with
less than 50 miles and correctly sized 225/70/15. There is one
very tiny chip in the paint above the right inner headlight and
a specific photo below of the area to show how unnoticeable it
is. There may be some very faint blemishes around the car
that were too small to show up in photos, but nothing that is
noticeable from standing even five feet away. All weather
stripping is in new excellent condition. Trunk is complete and
nicely detailed with spare tire, inflator canister, jack, base,
and new trunk mat.

The silver deluxe interior of the
Trans Am looks utterly splendid. The new correct seat covers
are in excellent condition with virtually no wear. The
carpet is also in "like new" condition with no major stains,
rips, or holes. The original dash has a couple of small
hairline cracks on top of the dash, there is a specific
photo of the area below, but otherwise is in excellent
condition with no other cracks, fading, or sun damage. The
original style correct TATA radio sounds amazing and the
dash remains un cut, there area a few burned out pixels as
one can see in the video. Even the power antenna works with a
convenient manual toggle switch for operation. The newly
installed door panels look excellent with no cracks or
splits, and both door pulls are solid and in tact. The
headliner is in ncie shape with no holes or stains and no
sagging. The package tray looks great with no warping,
fading, or sun damage. This car has not been smoked in;
there is no aroma of cigarettes what so ever.
The interior looks just as good in person as it does in the
This Trans Am
seems to be in good mechanical condition and it is ready to be
enjoyed. The original numbers matching engine runs well with
just under 32,000 miles of use. The factory catalytic converter
remains on the car and demonstrates just how correct this car
is, also two new mufflers were installed and splitters were
professionally aligned and the exit pipes were secured to the
car. The factory smog system, cruise control, egr., and all
other engine parts remain on the car as it came from the
factory. This Trans Am is an exceptional driver that feels great
on the road and at highway speeds. There is no smoke when
starting or driving the car. It starts right away every time,
idles well, and runs excellent. The horn works as do all the
lights, gauges, wipers, and blower. Even the a/c blows
cold and the power door locks work, which are common problems on
this era Trans Am. The speedometer, tachometer, odometer, oil
pressure, fuel, and battery gauges all work as they should,
though the speedo can be jumpy and does make some noise. The
power antenna also works and operates on a manual toggle switch
mounted below the dash. The only item we are aware of that is
not currently working on this Trans Am is the cruise control.
This Trans Am has lots of power and handles amazingly. Not
enough can be said as to how much of a pleasure it is to drive
this car, especially on a beautiful day with the t-tops removed
Overall, this 1979 Tenth Anniversary Trans
Am is in spectacular condition. It is a great value and we have
it priced to sell. This car turns heads and gets tons of
attention wherever it goes. The value of these cars has gone up
exponentially in recent years. Anniversary and Special edition
GM classics always hold a high premium over their stand
counterparts. Verifiable originally is also extremely
important in pricing on these cars and as once can see this
Pontiac is documented and undoubtedly a correct TATA. They
are all solid investments for a collector or the average
enthusiast. Cars like this are the Barrett Jackson stars of the
future. One could easily enjoy this vehicle for several years
and sell it for more than the purchase price with minimal effort
