Seven Hills Motorcars is very proud to offer this beautiful, numbers matching, 1966 Corvette Sting Ray Convertible with the original high performance L72 427ci/425hp big block engine, 4-Speed transmission, side pipes, and knock off wheels. This Corvette has been awarded the prestigious NCRS Second Flight award, it was 1.4% away from a Top Flight award. This Corvette has a numbers matching 427ci engine looks complete stock, original, and correct in appearance, but internally the engine has been slightly upgraded and improved to produce 520hp and 499 foot pounds of torque. The car is finished in the stunningly gorgeous and highly desirable color combination of Nassau Blue over Bright Blue vinyl. This car also appears to have the F41 special high performance front and rear suspension with the 7-leaf rear spring and the larger 15/16" front away bar.

This Corvette looks utterly stunning, runs terrifically, and is an absolutely thrilling driver with over 500hp that is ready to be enjoyed. There is no way a similar Corvette could be built or restored for anything near our asking price. Please peruse all of the photos, video, numbers, and other information below to get a true sense of how exceptionally nice this Corvette really is.

Seven This Corvette comes with an appraisal from Ken Edmunds, who is an Bloomington Gold Judge. The appraisal is from 2004 and the car has definitely gone up in value since then. There is a photos of the the original appraisal below, but please read the following text from the appraisal letter:

To Whom It May Concern:

Re: 1966 Chevrolet Corvette convertible, serial number 194676S116635 owned by Mr. Leslie S.
Gusky.

I am quite familiar with the subject car having recently participated in some aspects of its restoration and
service.

This car, sometime in the last ten years received a "body off the chassis" restoration the chassis was
refinished, the suspension was rebuilt and all components were restored and or refinished as per the
original equipment manufacturer. That is, the correct hues and shades of paint, plating on the
fasteners, correct fasteners and all original parts. This car is equipped with the optional 427 cubic
inch, 425 horsepower engine and an original 4 speed Muncie transmission. The engine and
transmission were rebuilt and restored this year to better than new condition and performance
specifications. Great care was taken to make the engine and engine bay appear as the car did when it
rolled off the assembly line with all components under the hood correct down to the dates that the
parts were made-a very important part of Corvette restoration. Mechanically the car is in outstanding
condition. The body appears to be original and accident free and is very straight. The finish is modem
base coat/clear coat and is in good condition. The interior is in very good original condition with a
little wear showing on the front carpeting. Overall the car is in very good to excellent condition
needing just a few detail items to make it perfect.

This car is very desirable and collectable due to the combination of a convertible and the optional
high horsepower 427 engine, 4-speed transmission and factory mounted side exhaust.
Based upon cars like this that have been traded recently, I would place the value of this Corvette at
$85,000 or higher.

Sincerely,
Ken Edmunds

Exterior

The Nassau Blue exterior is in beautiful driver condition. As one can see in the photos the finish has dazzling gloss, deep shine, and smooth finish. The knock off wheels and spinners are in excellent condition with a brilliant finish and no curb rash. The tires are BF Goodrich redline radials with plenty of tread left. These tires offer the best of both worlds with the vintage look of the redline, but the modern performance and handling of a radial. The convertible top is in nice shape with no rips or holes. The rear window is clear and is not yellowed or foggy. There is a small spot on the top rear of the left front fender withe a specific photo below and a few tiny blemishes around the car that were too small to show up in the photos, but nothing that is noticeable from five or ten feet away. As one can see in the many photos of the underside of the car, this Corvette is totally solid. The bottom of the car is exceptionally clean and correct with appropriate markings; the car looks nearly as good underneath as it is on top.

Window Date Codes

Please note that ALL of the glass on this Corvette, both door windows, both vent windows, and even the windshield, are all date coded and original as each piece predates the car's body build date of March 7, 1966 (H07). Original glass is a good indication that this car has had no major accident history and never sustained significant damage.

The Sting Ray looks just as good in person as it does in the photos.

Interior

The Bright Blue Vinyl interior of the Corvette looks superb. The seats look just as good in person as they do in the photos. The carpet is also great condition with no tears, rips, or holes. This included the rear carpet which is often neglected. The dash and console are in terrific condition with no fading or sun damage. The original AM-FM radio sounds great, most importantly the dash has never been cut or modified for and aftermarket installation. The door panels are in great condition with no cracks or wear. This car has not been smoked in and there is no aroma of cigarettes whatsoever. The excellent condition of the this interior is a huge testament to the meticulous care and attention this car has received throughout the years.

The interior looks just as good in person as it does in the photos.

Mechanical

This Corvette seems to be in great mechanical condition. The engine was completely rebuilt during the restoration and produces 520hp so this car is pure excitement out on the road. Please review the photos below with documents listing some of the engine specifications and performance parts used as well as some of the work performed. Please view the video to hear one of the best exhaust notes in the classic car industry, a big block Corvette engine and sidepipes.

The car starts right away every time, runs well, and idles well. The car drives terrifically. In the video below one can observe the car accelerating on the highway up to about 70mph, braking to stoplight, and going through some curves. Please note that there are no strange noises or vibrations and the car performs quite well overall. There is no blue smoke when starting or driving the car. The clutch feels good, the transmission is very tight, and does not pop out of gear. The brakes are responsive and do not pull to one side or the other. This Corvette has plenty of power and is exceptionally fast with the L72 427ci engine. Also, the engine compartment is beautifully clean, detailed, and correct as one can see in the photos.

The horn works as do all the exterior lights, interior lights, and wipers. The headlights go up and down properly, which is a very common problem on second generation Corvette. The complete headlight operation can be viewed in the video below. The blower for the heater works on all speeds. The power antenna does not work. Not enough can be said as to how much of a pleasure it is to drive this car, especially with the 4-Speed, the extra power fro the L72, the sounds of the sidepipes, and the top down out on a beautiful day.

The car runs and drives as well as it looks.

Overall Condition

Overall, this 1966 427ci Big Block Corvette convertible is in marvelous condition. There are photos below of the VIN stamp and engine assembly date on the engine block for any potential buyer or professional to analyze. This is truly an investment grade classic car. The value and market on second generation or "mid-year" Corvettes has always been solid, and they are wise investments for a collector. This is especially true for rare and highly desirable models like this L72 big block.

The originality, matching numbers engine, NCRS award, restoration, and beautiful color combination make this car especially important and difficult to duplicate. There is no way someone could buy and restore a 1966 L72 Corvette to this level of quality for anywhere near our asking price. This Corvette always gets a ton of attention driving down the road. It is very apparent that the vehicle has been well taken care of by its previous owners. One could easily enjoy this vehicle for several years and sell it for more than the purchase price with minimal effort.

Thank you for looking and please email or call with any questions.
