The low original mileage is verified not only by the condition of the car, but also the clear Ohio title, pictured below, showing the mileage as "Actual." This Corvette is "Numbers Matching" meaning that the engine in the car now is the correct and original unit that was installed in the car brand new at the factory in St. Louis in 1972. The last six digits of the VIN are stamped on the engine pad, which is pictured below, and the engine is original to the car. The transmission is also original with the last six digits of the VIN stamped on the main case.

Exterior

The dark blue metallic exterior is in great driver condition. As one can see in the photos the finish has a terrific gloss, smooth finish, and deep shine. The chrome and other bright work look nice overall with a bright polish. The wheels and center caps are in excellent condition with a brilliant finish and no curb rash on the beauty rings. The white letter tires have plenty of treat left. The convertible top looks good with no rips, holes, or excessive wear. The rear window is clear and not yellowed or foggy at all. There are no major blemishes that have been intentionally excluded from the photos. There are a few imperfections around car that were too tiny to show up in pictures, but nothing else that is really noticeable from about five or ten feet away. The left door could use some adjustment as it is sticky and harder to operate, but opens okay as one can see in the video. As one can see in the many photos of the underside of the car, it is very clean and looks nice. We have included specific photos below of the "key hole" spot on the frame in front of the rear tire and the areas on the car most prone to rust problems to show how clean this Stingray is.

Please note that in addition to the black soft-top this Stingray comes with a body colored auxiliary hardtop. Many people, including myself, believe that a C3 convertible with a hardtop is the best looking body style of all the third generation Corvettes.

The car looks just as good in person as it does in the photos.

Interior

The black Vinyl interior in this Corvette is in outstanding condition. The seats are in excellent shape with no rips, holes, or split seams. They look just as good in person as they do in the photos. The carpet is also in fantastic condition with no major stains or holes. This includes the rear carpet, which is often neglected. The gauge faces are crisp and clean and the lenses are clear. The gauge lights work as on can see in the video. The door panels are in great shape overall and not cracked in the typical area where the driver sits his elbow. The door pulls are solid and intact. The dash and console look good with no sun fading. This Corvette has never been smoked in; there are no burns marks and no aroma of cigarettes.

The interior looks just as good in person as it does in the photos.

Mechanical

This Corvette seems to be in good mechanical condition. The car starts right away every time, runs well, and idles smooth. It drives great and feels nice on the road and at highway speeds. In the video below one can observe the car accelerating on the highway up to about 70mph, shifting through all the gears, braking to stoplight, and going through some curves. Please note that there are no vibrations or strange noises and the car performs quite well overall. The brakes are responsive and do not pull to one side or the other. The transmission shifts well throughout the power band. Also, the engine compartment is beautifully clean and detailed as one can see in the photos.

The horn works as do all the exterior lights, indicators, radio, and wipers. The vacuum system for the headlights works correctly with no effort or binding in the mechanism. Also, the headlights go up properly with either the headlight switch or vacuum override switch under the steering column. Their complete operation form both switches can be viewed in the video below. The blower for the a/c and heater works on all speeds but high. All of the gauges work with the obvious exception of the clock. This is an original a/c car from the factory. The air conditioning compressor is not currently mounted on the car, but is included with the sale. Not enough can be said as to how much of a pleasure it is to drive this car, especially with the top down out on a beautiful day.

The car runs and drives as well as it looks.

Overall Condition

Overall, this 1973 Corvette Convertible is in great driver condition. Numbers matching is very important in Corvette pricing and as one can see this car is very correct. The convertible body style, especially with a hardtop, is much more valuable and desireable than the standard coupe. This Stingray is a great value and we have it priced to sell. The value of third generation Corvettes has increased dramatically in recent times, this is especially true for the 1973 model year. They are solid and wise investments for a collector. 1973 was a very special and one year only body style for Corvette that is always recognizable with the newer front end treatment and the classic chrome bumpers on the back. While this is not an NCRS Top Flight or Bloomington Gold car, it is a very nice driver quality Corvette and a great car for the money. There are photos below of the VIN stamp on the engine block, suffix code, engine assembly date, transmission assembly date, and the transmission VIN stamp. One could easily enjoy this vehicle for several years and sell it for more than the purchase price with minimal effort.
