L82 Convertible, #'s Match, EXCELLENT CONDITION, Yellow/Black, VERY LOW MILES!!

….

Please call Matt directly at 513-708-1468 with any questions about this car.

Seven Hills Motorcars is very proud to offer this completely numbers matching 1974 Corvette Stingray Convertible in beautiful condition and with the original high performance L82 engine and only 47,430 original miles. The car is finished in the beautiful and highly desirable color combination of Bright Yellow (56) over Black Leather (404). This iconic color combination is highly desirable, truly striking, and looks great on this Corvette shark body style. This is also the correct and original color scheme as verified by the codes on the trim tag pictured in this ad.

I have personally put about 20 miles on this Stingray. During that time the car was completely reliable and pleasure to drive with no issues. Besides the convertible body style and L82 engine this Corvette is loaded with highly desirable options such as air condition, power windows, power brakes, Power steering, tilt/telescopic steering column, and factory AM/FM Stereo radio.

Besides the correct paint and trim codes this Corvette is completely "Numbers Matching" and virtually every part we checked on the car is correct with the proper part numbers and appropriate date codes. We have run the numbers on literally hundreds of Corvettes over the years and there are very few that are so correct and original. Even very detailed parts like the carburetor, distributor, alternator, starter, intake manifold, the exhaust manifolds, and even all the windows and glass are all correct and original. The last six digits of the VIN, 436283, are stamped on the engine pad, which is pictured in this ad, and the engine is original to the car. The transmission is also original with the last six digits of the VIN stamped on the main case and pictured. This car is verified as an original L82 in a number of ways. First, on the engine pad is stamped “CLD.” This suffix code denotes an L82 with an automatic transmission. The car is also confirmed as an original and authentic L82 by the fifth digit of the VIN. IN 1974 only the L82 Corvettes with have a “T” in this spot like this car does, a base motor L48 car will always have an “J” in the fifth digit of the VIN.

We have this car priced to sell and are offering an excellent opportunity to own a very desirable high performance L82 Corvette Stingray convertible at an unbeatable value. The L82 and convertible body style draw a great premium over the standard small block and coupe body styles. One could easily buy this car now and sell it for more than the purchase price in years to come as the market on C3 Corvettes is absolutely red hot right now and on the rise. The low mileage is verified not only by the condition of the car, but also the clear Ohio title which shows the mileage as “Actual.” Please peruse all of the photos, video, list of numbers, and other information below to get a true sense of how nice this Corvette really is.

As a side note, this Corvette is not a dealer auction vehicle. We hand pick each car after careful inspection. Our Corvettes come from owners who expect their car to go to someone that will give the vehicle the same care and attention as they did. We invite and encourage you to examine the car in person or have the car inspected. Please take the time to scrutinize each picture. We photograph each vehicle to the greatest extent so you can feel confident about your purchase. If you have a question about the Corvette, just give us a call.

Exterior

The Bright Yellow (56) exterior is in very nice driver condition. As one can see in the photos, the finish has dazzling gloss and deep shine. The rally wheels and center caps are in fantastic condition with a brilliant finish and no curb rash. Please note that this car still has the original 4-clip style beauty rings, not the cheaper foreign made replacements. The Cooper Cobra raised white letter tires are literary brand new with less than 20 miles on them and are correctly sized 225/70R15. The soft top is in terrific condition with no rips, holes, or frayed edges. The rear window is clear and not foggy or yellowed. There are no major blemishes that have been intentionally excluded from the photos. There are some fisheyes and a few tiny imperfections around car and the right rear bumper that were too faint to show up in pictures, but nothing else that is really noticeable from about five or ten feet away. As one can see in the many photos of the underside this car is very clean underneath and has no rust issues. The frame is totally solid around the "key hole" area in front of the rear tire and we have seen no evidence of corrosion around the windshield or “birdcage” area, which is the most common spots for rust on a C3 Corvette. We have included specific photos of the areas most prone to rust to show how nice this car looks.

Window Date Codes

Please note that ALL of the glass on this Corvette, both door windows and the windshield, are all date coded and original as each piece predates the car's body build date of September 21, 1974 (N21). Original glass is a good indication that this car has had no major accident history and never sustained significant damage.

Interior

The Black Leather (404) interior of the Corvette is in outstanding condition. The seats are in excellent shape and look in person just as they do in the photos. The seats are not overly worn in the typical area on the bolster where the driver gets in and out. There is a small spot of wear on the passenger bolster Please note that these appear to be the original seats and skins, not some cheap aftermarket covers. The gauge faces are clean and crisp and the lenses are clear. The carpet is also in excellent condition with no stains, rips, or holes. This includes the rear carpet, which is often neglected. The original stereo radio is still in the car, works well, and gets good reception. Most importantly the dash has never been cut or modified for an aftermarket installation. The door panels are in nice shape overall. The dash and console are in good shape with no cracks, fading, or sun damage. This Corvette has never been smoked in; there are no burns marks and no aroma of cigarettes. The spare is still with the car. The jack is also with the car, stored correctly in the compartment behind the passenger seat.

Corvette interiors from this era are not known to wear well, especially for a convertible, and the excellent condition of this interior is a huge testament to the meticulous care and attention this car has received throughout its life and another great verification of the low original mileage.

Mechanical

This Corvette seems to be in good mechanical condition. The original numbers matching L82 engine runs well and idles smooth. The car drives great and feels nice on the road and at highway speeds. In the video below one can observe the car accelerating on the highway up to about 70mph, shifting through all the gears, braking to stoplight, and going through some curves. Please note that there are no vibrations and the car performs quite well overall. The transmission shifts well throughout the power band. Also, the engine compartment is beautifully clean, detailed, and correct as one can see in the photos. Even the original ignition shielding, air cleaner, L82 specific aluminum valve covers, and smog pump are all still in place.

The original radio works as do all the exterior lights, interior lights, dash lights, horn, and wipers all work. All of the gauges work and even the clock runs. The blower for the heater and air conditioning works on all speeds but high. The air conditioning itself works and blows cold. One can observe the a/c compressor clicking on and engaging properly in the video. The entire vacuum system for the headlights and wiper door works correctly. Please note that the vacuum system works properly from both the respective switches on the dash and the override switches. The entire operation from both switches can be viewed in the video. Not enough can be said as to how much of a pleasure it is to drive this car, especially with the power from the L82 engine and the top down on a beautiful day.

Overall Condition

Overall, this 1974 L82 Corvette Stingray Convertible looks fantastic and is in excellent condition and truly an investment grade classic. The L82 engine, very low original miles, beautiful color combination, excellent condition, and the great extent to which the numbers match make this Stingray especially important and very hard to duplicate. Numbers matching is extremely important in Corvette pricing, especially for a rare and particularly desirable models like this L82, and as one can see, this car is quite correct. There are photos of the VIN stamp on the engine block, suffix code, engine assembly date, transmission VIN stamp, and transmission date code. The high performance and convertible Stingray models always draw a great premium over the standard counterparts. The value of these cars has gone up exponentially in recent years. They are all solid investments for a collector. One could easily enjoy this vehicle for several years and sell it for more than the purchase price with minimal effort.
