Please call Greg directly at 513-200-9226 with any questions about this car.
Seven Hills Motorcars is very proud to offer this beautiful 1986 Mercedes Benz 560SL in excellent condition showing only 73,488 original miles. It looks spectacular, runs great, and is an awesome driver. The market on the 560SL is absolutely red hot right now and this example is priced to sell. Low mileage and original examples of the R107 Mercedes SL like this car are exceptionally difficult to find and draw a huge premium in the current market. 73,488 miles is very low for a Mercedes from this era. The car comes with some service records and receipts. The receipts and the entries in the maintenance log add up to over $4,400.
This 560SL comes with both the soft-top and auxiliary hardtop. This is an excellent opportunity to own a classic Mercedes that is ready to be used and enjoyed at an unbeatable value. One could easily buy this car now and sell it for more than the purchase price in years to come. This Mercedes is finished in the absolutely beautiful and highly desirable color combination of Signal Red (568) over Palomino Leather (274) with a Brown (746) soft top. This is also the correct and original color scheme as verified by the codes on the vehicle data tag and the vehicle data card. Please peruse all of the photos, video, and other information in this ad to get a true sense of clean and nice this 560SL really is.
This Mercedes is verified as "numbers matching" meaning the engine in the car is the correct and original unit that was installed in the factory. It is especially rare, but this 560SL has the "vehicle data card" from the Mercedes factory, which is pictured below. It shows the original engine number to be "117967 12 002302." We have checked the engine and confirmed that same engine number stamped on the left side of the engine block. The transmission is also correct and numbers matching with a “722313 02 692061” stamping on the main case, which matches the vehicle data card and is pictured in this ad.
As a side note, this Mercedes is not a dealer auction vehicle. We hand pick each car after careful inspection. Our classics come from owners who expect their cars to go to someone that will give the vehicle the same care and attention as they did. We invite and encourage you to examine the car in person or have the car inspected. Please take the time to scrutinize each picture. We photograph each vehicle to the greatest extent so you can feel confident about your purchase. If you have a question about the 560SL, just give us a call.
Exterior
The Signal Red (568) exterior is in very nice condition. As one can see in the photos, the paint has a brilliant gloss, deep shine, and smooth finish. Both doors open and shut nicely; it has that solid Mercedes touch and feels like a vault door closing. The alloy wheels are in excellent condition with a brilliant finish and no curb rash. The tires are only one year old and have about 95% tread left. They are correctly sized 205/65R15. There are no major imperfections that have been intentionally excluded from the photos. There is a one spot on the left rear corner of the hood and there may be some very tiny touch ups or other blemishes that were too small to show up in the photos, but nothing that is really noticeable from about five or ten feet away. This Mercedes has absolutely no rust issues at all. As one can see in the many photos of the underside, it is very clean underneath. We have also included specific photos of the rockers, lower front and rear quarter panels, and other areas on the car most prone to rust to show how nice it looks.
Interior
The Palomino Leather (274) interior of the 560SL looks absolutely fantastic. The seats are in excellent condition with no tears, rips, or split seams. The seat is not overly worn at all in the typical spot on the bolster where the driver gets in and out. Please note that these appear to be the original seats and skins, not some cheap aftermarket replacements or covers. The carpet also looks great with no stains, rips, or holes. All of the gauge faces are crisp and clean and the lenses are clear. The door panels look wonderful with no cracks or splits, and both door pulls are solid and intact. The Brown (746) convertible soft-top is in excellent condition. The rear windows are clear with no yellowing or cloudiness and are not worn in the normal spot where the windows contact the top mechanism. The dash is in good condition with sun fading and just one small crack. The car still has the working original radio. Most importantly, the dash has never been cut or modified for an aftermarket installation. This car has never been smoked in; there is no aroma of cigarettes what so ever and no burn marks. The trunk is very clean and nicely detailed with the jack, original spare tire, and rim that still has the original jack instructions tag attached to it.
Interiors in convertible cars are not known to wear well over time. The excellent condition of this interior is a huge testament to the meticulous care and attention this Mercedes has received throughout its life and another great verification of the low original mileage.
Mechanical
This 560SL appears to be in great mechanical condition and it is ready to be enjoyed. The engine starts right away every time, runs well, and idles smooth. It is an exceptional driver that feels great on the road and at highway speeds. In the video one can observe the car accelerating on the highway up to about 70mph, shifting through all the gears, braking to a stoplight, and going through some curves. Please note that it drives great, there are no strange noises or vibrations, and the car performs quite nice overall. The brakes are responsive and do not pull to one side or the other. There is no blue smoke when starting or driving the car. It runs cool and does not overheat. The gauge shows that the engine makes great oil pressure. Also, the engine bay is clean, nicely detailed, and correct as one can see from the photos.
Please note in the video the dash warning lights; they light up when the key is first turned on and then go off when the engine is started as they should. There are no "check engine" lights that stay on. The horn works as do the fog lights, headlights, brights, turn signals, interior lights, indicators, dash gauges lights, wipers, power locks, and fan. All of the gauges work and even the clock runs. The a/c does not blow cold so it may need to some freon to be added. This Mercedes has lots of power with the 5.6 liter V8 engine. Not enough can be said as to how much of a pleasure it is to drive this car, especially with the top down on a beautiful day.
Overall Condition
Overall, this 1986 560SL is in excellent condition and is a true bargain at our asking price. This car is a premium example. The very low mileage, excellent color combination, and great overall condition make this 560SL very hard to duplicate. The market for the R107 body style SL Mercedes is very strong right now, particularly for the 560SL's and this would be a great example to own. This Mercedes is a great value and will only appreciate over time. Someone could easily enjoy this vehicle for several years and sell it for more than the purchase price with minimal effort.
