We have the car priced to sell and are offering an excellent opportunity to own a very desirable Corvette Stingray convertible at an unbeatable value. One could easily buy this car now and sell it for more than the purchase price in years to come as the market on C3 Corvettes is very hot right now and on the rise. The low original mileage is verified not only by the condition of the car, but also the clear Ohio title showing the mileage as "Actual."

As a side note, this Corvette is not a dealer auction vehicle. We hand pick each car after careful inspection. Our Corvettes come from owners who expect their car to go to someone that will give the vehicle the same care and attention as they did. We invite and encourage you to examine the car in person or have the car inspected. Please take the time to scrutinize each picture. We photograph each vehicle to the greatest extent so you can feel confident about your purchase. If you have a question about the Corvette, just give us a call.

Model Description

Only 5,474 convertibles were made in 1974. A brand new restyled rear end was first featured in 1974. The conventional rear bumper was replaced with a sloping two piece design. This was the only year for the split rear bumper Corvette. The new rear end eliminated the last vestiges of the long-lived rear-deck-lid spoiler and replaced it with a smooth-surfaced rear deck and a body-colored resilient extension covering the actual rear bumper and including the circular taillights meeting new federal energy-absorbing standards.

Exterior

The Red Metallic exterior is in good driver condition. As one can see in the photos the finish has a nice gloss, smooth finish, and good shine. The body is straight and both doors open and shut nicely. The wheels and center caps are in excellent condition with a brilliant finish and no curb rash on the beauty rings. The BF Goodrich Radial TA tires are correctly sized 225/70R15 and have plenty of treat left. The convertible top looks okay and the rear window is not yellowed. The top itself operates well and opens and closes easily. There is one spot visible in the photos on the left side where the top has been repaired. Often Corvettes will have particularly chipped up front ends, this car does not. There are some small blemishes on the right door, hood, and near the gas door that are visible in the photos and some imperfections that were too tiny to show up in photos, but nothing that is really noticeable from about five or ten feet away. As one can see in the many photos of the underside of the car, the bottom is very clean. The frame is totally solid with no rust around the "key hole" area in front of the rear tire. We have included specific photos of the areas on the car most prone to rust to show how the car looks.

Window Date Codes

Please note that almost all of the glass on this Corvette, both pieces of “Astro Ventilation” door glass, is date coded and original as they predate the car's body build date of September 24, 1974 (N24). Original glass is a good indication that this car has had no major accident history and never sustained significant damage.

Interior

The Dark Ox Blood interior in this Corvette is in fantastic condition. The seats are in excellent shape with no holes or excessive wear. They are not overly worn in the typical area where the driver gets in and out. The carpet is also in fantastic condition with no major stains or holes. This includes the rear carpet, which is often neglected. The gauge faces are crisp and clean and the lenses are crystal clear. The door panels are in wonderful shape with no splits or cracks. The door pulls are solid and intact. The dash and console look awesome with no cracks or sun fading. The original radio is still in the car and still works. Most importantly the original dash has never been cut or modified for an aftermarket installation. This Corvette has never been smoked in; there are no burns marks and no aroma of cigarettes.

Corvette interiors from this era are not known to wear well, and the excellent condition of this interior is a huge testament to the meticulous care and attention this car has received throughout its life

Mechanical

This Stingray convertible seems to be in very good mechanical condition. It starts right away every time, runs well, and idles smooth. The Corvette is an awesome driver that feels great the road and at highway speeds. In the video below one can observe the car accelerating on the highway up to about 70mph, shifting through all the gears, braking to stoplight, and going through some curves. Please note that there are no vibrations and the car performs quite well overall. It runs cool and does not overheat. The gauge shows that the engine makes great oil pressure. The brakes are responsive and do not pull to one side or the other. There is no blue smoke when starting or driving the car. Also, the engine compartment is beautifully clean and detailed as one can see in the photos.

The horn works as do the wipers, interior lights, exterior lights, and power windows. The entire vacuum system for the headlights works correctly from both of the switch on the dash and the override switch. They go up quickly, evenly, and with no binding in the mechanism. The entire operation from both switches can be viewed in the video. The blower for the heater works on all speeds, but high. All of the gauges work with the obvious exception of the clock, which runs sporadically. The a/c and brake lights do not work. There is a squeak audible sometimes while driving in the video. Not enough can be said as to how much of a pleasure it is to drive this car, especially with the top down on a beautiful day.

Overall Condition

Overall, this 1974 Corvette convertible is in terrific driver condition. It is a great value and we have it priced it to sell. The numbers matching driveline as well as the excellent and rare original color combination make this Stingray especially important and hard to duplicate. This car turns heads and gets ton of attentions wherever it goes. The 74 and 75 Convertibles are still some of the best deals around in the Corvette market they are solid investments for a collector. It is very apparent that the vehicle has been well taken care of by its previous owners. The prices of C3 Corvettes have increased drastically over the past years. Cars like this are the Barrett Jackson stars of the future. One could easily enjoy this vehicle for several years and sell it for more than the purchase price with minimal effort.

Thank you for looking and please do not hesitate to email or call with any questions.

VIN
1Z67J4S436497
The first digit, "1," indicated the Chevrolet division of GM.  The "Z" is the series, Corvette.  The "67" is the body style, convertible.  The fifth digit is the engine, J, correct for an L48 car.  The sixth digit, "4," indicates the model year, 1974.  The "S" is the plant where the car was produced, St. Louis.  The last five digits are a sequence number so this is the 36,497th Corvette made for 1974.

Body Build Date
N24
"N" corresponds to September and "24" is the twenty-fourth day of the month meaning this Corvette's body build date is September 24, 1974.

Engine Code
V0628
"V" means the engine was build in the Flint, MI plant.  The "06" is the sixth month of year and the "28" is the twenty-eighth day of the month meaning the engine was assembled on June 28, 1974.  This is correct as it precedes the build date of the car.
