The market on the R107 SL is absolutely red hot right now and this example is priced to sell. Very low mileage and original examples of the R107 Mercedes SL are difficult to find and draw a huge premium in the current market. The low original mileage is also verified not only by the condition of the car, but also by the Ohio title, pictured in this ad, showing the mileage as "Actual."

This 380SL comes with both the soft-top and auxiliary hardtop, and also comes with some receipts from service and maintenance, which total nearly $3,500. The receipts are from August of last year so the car has been serviced extensively recently. This is an excellent opportunity to own a classic Mercedes that is ready to be used and enjoyed at an unbeatable value. One could easily buy this car now and sell it for more than the purchase price in years to come. Exterior

The Black exterior is in nice driver condition. As one can see in the photos, the paint has a brilliant gloss, deep shine, and smooth finish. The black soft top is in fantastic condition and almost looks new with no rips, holes, or frayed edges. The soft top windows are clear with no yellowing or fogginess. The soft top mechanism contacts the soft top side windows on all of the R107 models when the top is stored down so wear on the those windows is very common, but both are in great condition on this 380SL. Both doors open and shut nicely. The chrome and other bright-work looks great with no pitting. The original alloy wheels are in good shape with a nice finish. The Bridgestone Potenza tires have plenty of tread left and are correctly sized 205/70R14. There are no major blemishes that have been intentionally excluded from the photos. There are couple dings on the left front and some other very small imperfections around that are too tiny so show up in the photos, but nothing that is really noticeable from about five or ten feet away. This Mercedes has no rust issues. As one can see in the many photos of the underside, this 380SL is very clean underneath. We have also included specific photos of the rockers, lower front and rear quarter panels, and other areas on the car most prone to rust to show how nice it looks.

Interior

The Black interior of the 380SL looks fantastic. All of the gauge faces are crisp and clean and the lenses are clear. The seats are in excellent condition with no split seams, rips, or excessive wear. The seat is not overly worn at all in the typical area on the driver's bolster where the driver gets in and out, there is just one small spot of wear there. The carpet is also in great shape with no holes or stains. The original door panels look wonderful and both door pulls are solid and intact. The dash is in great condition with no sun fading, there is a small crack in center near the defroster vents. The trunk is very clean and nicely detailed with the original spare tire and rim.

The excellent condition of this interior is a huge testament to the meticulous care and attention this Mercedes has received throughout its life and another great verification of the low original mileage.

Mechanical

This 380SL appears to be in good mechanical condition. The engine starts right away every time. It is an exceptional driver that feels great on the road and at highway speeds. In the video one can observe the car accelerating on the highway up to about 70mph, shifting through all the gears, braking to a stoplight, and going through some curves. Please note that it runs well, there are no strange noises or vibrations, and the car performs quite nice overall. The brakes are responsive and do not pull to one side or the other. There is no blue smoke when starting or driving the car. It runs cool and does not overheat. The gauge shows that the engine makes great oil pressure. Also, the engine bay is clean, nicely detailed, and correct as one can see from the photos.

The horn works as do the fog lights, headlights, brights, indicators, interior lights, power windows, power locks, indicators, and wipers. All of the gauges work; even the clock keeps time. The blower for the hear and a/c works, but the air conditioning does not blow cold and the system can be a bit finicky. The locks work inside, but we cannot get them to lock with the key from the outside. This Mercedes is smooth and quick with the 3.8 liter V8 engine. The car sometimes has a high idle. Not enough can be said as to how much of a pleasure it is to drive this car, especially with the top down on a beautiful day.

Overall Condition

Overall, this 1984 380SL is in excellent condition and is a true bargain at our asking price. The market for the R107 body style SL Mercedes is very strong right now, particularly for low mileage examples in excellent condition in a beautiful color combination like this car. There is a photo of the title in this ad. One can see that this car has a rebuilt salvage title. We do not know what occurred in the past to cause this, but it is an important piece of information to for any buyer to know. This Mercedes is a great value and will only appreciate over time. Someone could easily enjoy this vehicle for several years and sell it for more than the purchase price with minimal effort.
