Seven Hills Motorcars is very proud to offer this beautiful numbers matching 1968 Big Block Corvette Convertible in fantastic driver condition with a Tremec TKO 5-Speed manual transmission, air conditioning from Vintage Air, and rack and pinion steering. This Corvette looks great, runs excellent, and is a fantastic driver. It is totally solid with great lines. This Corvette looks awesome in triple black with black paint over black interior with a black soft top. The car has an awesome setup with the big block engine, modern air conditioning, rack and pinion steering, and the 5-Speed transmission. Anyone who has ever driven a classic Corvette on the highway will know how important and how much better the car will drive at highway speeds with the 5-Speed. The air conditioning system made by Vintage Air that is currently installed in the car uses modern components and does a much better job of actually keeping the inside of the car cool than the original factory systems ever did. There is no way anyone could buy and build a C3 convertible to the specs of this car for anything near our asking price.

There are dozens of documents, manuals, records, and receipts from service and improvements to car that are included with the sale. The receipts total over $18,600. That does not even include the price of the Tremec 5-speed conversion, which currently costs $3,800 not including installation, the air conditioning system from Vintage air, which costs $2,000 not including installation, the rack and pinion steering, and much much more so this car has been very well cared for over the years. Some may be concerned about a car with aftermarket parts like the Tremec 5-speed, but the previous owner has put over 19,000 miles on the car over the past eight years with the current setup so there are no bugs to be worked out. The car is well sorted and ready to be enjoyed by its future owner. While this Corvette is not completely numbers matching, it does have a 3963512 engine block, which is the correct casting number for a 1969 427ci 400hp and 435hp Corvette so it is period correct.

The engine has been punched out to 468ci It makes a ton of power and this Corvette is blisteringly fast. There are many many receipts and records for the engine work included with the car. There is also documentation on the 5-speed Tremec TKO conversion. The pervious owner installed the transmission in the car in 2015. He has used and enjoyed the car extensively in the past nines so it is well sorted mechanically and runs and drives great.

We have this car priced to sell and are offering an excellent opportunity to own a very desirable classic big block Corvette Convertible at an unbeatable value. The big block and convertible Corvettes draw a great premium over the standard coupe body style or small block versions. One could easily buy this car now and sell it for more than the purchase price in years to come as the market on C3 "chrome bumper" Corvettes from 1968 to 1972 is absolutely red hot right now and on the rise. Please peruse all of the photos, video, and other information below to get a true sense of how nice this Corvette really is.

As a side note, this Corvette is not a dealer auction vehicle. We hand pick each car after careful inspection. Our Corvettes come from owners who expect their car to go to someone that will give the vehicle the same care and attention as they did. We invite and encourage you to examine the car in person or have the car inspected. Please take the time to scrutinize each picture. We photograph each vehicle to the greatest extent so you can feel confident about your purchase. If you have a question about the Corvette, just give us a call.

Exterior

The black exterior is in nice driver condition. As one can see in the photos the finish has dazzling gloss, smooth finish, and deep shine. The rally wheels and center caps are in excellent condition with a brilliant finish and no curb rash. The BF Goodrich Radial TA raised white letter tires have plenty of tread left and are correctly sized 225/70R15. The soft top is in great condition with no rips, holes, or frayed edges and the rear window is not yellowed. The chrome and brightwork looks great overall with a nice finish. There are no major imperfections that have been intentionally excluded from the photos. There are some small spots, cracks, and blemishes around car that were too faint to show up in pictures, but nothing else that is really noticeable from about five or ten feet away. This Corvette has no rust issues and as one can see in the many photos of the underside it is very clean underneath. The frame is totally solid with no rust around the "key hole" area in front of the rear tire and there are no signs of corrosion around the windshield, which are the two most notorious areas for rust on a Corvette of this era. We have included specific photos of the areas most prone to rust to show how solid this car is.

Interior

The black interior of the Corvette is in fantastic condition. The gauge faces are clean and crisp and the lenses are clear. The seats are in great shape and look just as nice in person as they do in the photos with no rips or split seams, just a small spot of wear in the typical spot on the bolster where the driver gets in and out. The carpet is in in “like new” condition with no stains, holes, or rips. This includes the rear carpet, which is often neglected. The door panels are in superb condition, there are no cracks in the typical spot where the driver's elbow sits. This car has a more modern aftermarket radio that was made specially for this model Corvette. The dash and console are in great shape with no cracks, fading, or sun damage. This Corvette has never been smoked in; there are no burns marks and no aroma of cigarettes.

Corvette interiors from this era are not known to wear well, especially for a convertible, and the excellent condition of this interior is a huge testament to the meticulous care and attention this Stingray has received throughout its life.

Mechanical

This Corvette is in great mechanical condition. The 468ci big block engine starts up right away every time, runs well, and idles smooth. The car drives great and feels nice on the road and at highway speeds. It is blisteringly fast with the big block and handles like it is on rails with the rack and pinion steering. In the video in this ad one can observe the car accelerating on the highway up to about 70mph, shifting through all the gears, braking to stoplight, and going through some curves. Please note that there are no strange noises or vibrations and the car performs quite well overall. The brakes are responsive and do not pull to one side or the other. The shifter feels awesome, it is very tight and does not op out of gear. The clutch feels nice. Also, the engine compartment is beautifully clean and detailed as one can see in the photos. Even the upper ignition shielding is still in place.

The horn works as do the exterior lights, dash lights, indicators; even the key buzzer still works. The blower for the heater and a/c on all speeds. The air conditioning works and blows cold. One can observe the a/c compressor clicking on and engaging properly in the video. The vacuum system for the headlights works properly. Please note that the vacuum system works properly from both the respective switches on the dash and the override switch under the steering column. The wiper door will go up and down well with the override switch, but the wipers themselves are not currently working. All of the gauges work with the obvious exception of the clock. Not enough can be said as to how much of a pleasure it is to drive this car, especially with the top down on a beautiful day. As one can hear in the video, this Corvette sounds absolutely awesome and has a very healthy exhaust note with the true dual exhaust system with Hedman Hedders and Flowmaster mufflers.

A note on the fiber optic light monitoring system, we consistently receive many questions about the purpose of this system; exactly what it is and what it does. The sole and main idea behind the fiber optic light monitoring system is to simply confirm that all of the exterior lights, headlights, indicators, tail lights, etc., are working and to make the driver aware of a burned out bulb. Each lamp on the outside of the car has an actual fiber optic cable the runs to an indicator on the center console. There are nine small indicators on the console and each has its own finer optic cable. When the bulb goes on the light travels through the fiber optic cable and illuminates the corresponding indicator on the console. If someone does not remember to plug the cable end into the lamp housing, does any work to the center console, or if there is a break in a connection or anywhere along the cable, that indicator no longer works. As one can image, over time this is very common.

Overall Condition

Overall, this 1968 big block Corvette looks wonderful, is in great driver condition, and is a true bargain at our asking price. The 468ci engine, the Tremec TKO 5-speed transmission, the Vintage Air a/c system, the rack and pinon steering, the convertible body style, the desirable unique color combination, make this Corvette especially important and nearly impossible to duplicate. In my opinion and based on our experience the "Chrome Bumper" cars from 1968-1972 are the most collectible and hottest in the entire Corvette market right now. The value of these cars has gone up exponentially in recent years. They are all solid investments for a collector. One could easily enjoy this vehicle for several years and sell it for more than the purchase price with minimal effort. As stated above, there is no way someone could buy and build a C3 convertible to the same specs and quality of this car for anything near our asking price.

Other sellers are not taking the time to show the car is in such great detail to give you all of the options, photos, and video. This information is very valuable and important for pricing.

Thank you for looking and please do not hesitate to email or call with any questions.
