Seven Hills Motorcars is very proud to offer this beautiful numbers matching 1974 Corvette Stingray Convertible in excellent condition with only 81,070 original miles. The car looks fantastic, runs awesome, and is a magnificent driver that feels great out on the road and is ready to be enjoyed. It is finished in the highly desirable color combination of Silver Metallic over black interior with a black soft top. Please peruse all of the photos, video, numbers, RPO codes, and other information to get a true sense of how nice this Corvette really is.

This Corvette has a "Numbers Matching" engine meaning the engine in the car is the correct and original unit that was installed in the car new at the factory in St. Louis in May of 1974. Even detailed parts like the carburetor, intake, and distributor are all date coded and original. The last six digits of the VIN, 428945, are stamped on the engine pad, pictured in this ad, and the engine is original to the car.

We have the car priced to sell and are offering an excellent opportunity to own a very desirable Corvette Stingray convertible at an unbeatable value. One could easily buy this car now and sell it for more than the purchase price in years to come as the market on C3 Corvettes is very hot right now and on the rise. The low original mileage is verified not only by the condition of the car, but also the clear Ohio title, pictured in this ad, showing the mileage as "Actual."

As a side note, this Corvette is not a dealer auction vehicle. We hand pick each car after careful inspection. Our Corvettes come from owners who expect their car to go to someone that will give the vehicle the same care and attention as they did. We invite and encourage you to examine the car in person or have the car inspected. Please take the time to scrutinize each picture. We photograph each vehicle to the greatest extent so you can feel confident about your purchase. If you have a question about the Corvette, just give us a call.

Model Description

Only 5,474 convertibles were made in 1974. A brand new restyled rear end was first featured in 1974. The conventional rear bumper was replaced with a sloping two piece design. This was the only year for the split rear bumper Corvette. The new rear end eliminated the last vestiges of the long-lived rear-deck-lid spoiler and replaced it with a smooth-surfaced rear deck and a body-colored resilient extension covering the actual rear bumper and including the circular taillights meeting new federal energy-absorbing standards.

Exterior

The Silver Metallic exterior is in excellent driver condition. As one can see in the photos the finish has a nice gloss, smooth finish, and great shine. Both doors open and shut nicely. The slotted Corvette aluminum wheels and center caps are in excellent condition with a brilliant finish and no curb rash. The Cooper Cobra raised white letter tires are brand new with less than ten miles on them and correctly sized 225/70R15. The convertible top is in wonderful condition with no rips, holes, or frayed edges and the rear window is not yellowed or foggy. The top itself operates well and opens and closes easily. Often Corvettes will have particularly chipped up front ends, this car does not. There are no major blemishes that have been intentionally excluded from the photos. There are some small chips and other tiny imperfections that were too faint to show up in photos, but nothing that is really noticeable from about five feet away. As one can see in the many photos of the underside this car is very clean underneath and has no rust issues. The frame is totally solid around the "key hole" area in front of the rear tire and we have seen no evidence of corrosion around the windshield or “birdcage” area, which are the most common spots for rust on a C3 Corvette. We have included specific photos of the areas most prone to rust to show how nice this car looks.

Window Date Codes

Please note that almost all of the glass on this Corvette, both pieces of “Astro Ventilation” door glass, are date coded and original as they predate the car's body build date of September 21, 1974 (N21). Original glass is a good indication that this car has had no major accident history and never sustained significant damage.

Interior

The black interior in this Corvette is in outstanding condition. The seats are in excellent shape and look virtually brand new with no holes, split seams, or excessive wear. The seat is not overly worn in the typical area on the bolster where the driver gets in and out. The carpet is also looks to be in “like new” condition with no stains, rips, or or holes. This includes the rear carpet, which is often neglected. The gauge faces are crisp and clean and the lenses are crystal clear. The door panels are in wonderful shape. The door panel is not cracked in the typical area where the driver's elbow sits. The door pulls are solid and intact. The dash and console look awesome with no cracks, fading, or sun damage. Both seat belts work and retract, but the right belt can be sticky and hard to pull out. This is a common problem on C3 Corvettes and an item many buyers do not think to check. The original radio is still in the car and still works, but only on AM. Most importantly the original dash has never been cut or modified for an aftermarket installation. The spare is still with the car. This Corvette has never been smoked in; there are no burns marks and no aroma of cigarettes.

Corvette interiors from this era are not known to wear well, especially for a convertible, and the excellent condition of this interior is a huge testament to the meticulous care and attention this car has received throughout its life and another great verification of the low mileage.

Mechanical

This Stingray convertible seems to be in very good mechanical condition. The numbers matching L48 engine starts right away every time, and runs well. The Corvette is an awesome driver that feels great the road and at highway speeds. In the video in this ad one can observe the car accelerating on the highway up to about 70mph, shifting through all the gears, braking to stoplight, and going through some curves. Please note that there are no strange noised or vibrations and the car performs quite well overall. It runs cool and does not overheat. The gauge shows that the engine makes great oil pressure. The brakes are responsive and do not pull to one side or the other. There is no blue smoke when starting or driving the car. Also, the engine compartment is beautifully clean and detailed as one can see in the photos.

The horn works as do the wipers, indicators, interior lights, exterior lights, and dash lights. The blower for the heater works on all speeds. Even detailed items like the key buzzer and “Head Lamp” light work correctly. The “Head Lamp” light is on the dash and illuminates when the headlight switch is pulled and then goes off when the headlights are raised so the driver knows the headlight came up properly. The vacuum system for the headlights works correctly. Also, the headlights go up properly with either the headlight switch or vacuum override switch under the column. Their complete operation form both switches can be viewed in the video. All of the gauges work with the obvious exception of the clock. Not enough can be said as to how much of a pleasure it is to drive this car, especially with the top down on a beautiful day.

Overall Condition

Overall, this 1974 Corvette convertible is in terrific driver condition. It is a great value and we have it priced it to sell. This car turns heads and gets ton of attentions wherever it goes. The 74 and 75 Convertibles are still some of the best deals around in the Corvette market they are solid investments for a collector. It is very apparent that the vehicle has been well taken care of by its previous owners. The prices of C3 Corvettes have increased drastically over the past years. Cars like this are the Barrett Jackson stars of the future. One could easily enjoy this vehicle for several years and sell it for more than the purchase price with minimal effort.

Other sellers are not taking the time to show the car is in such great detail to give you all of the numbers, options, photos, and video. As stated above, numbers matching is extremely important in Corvette pricing, especially for an exceptional example like this car, and will become even more important as time passes and this car becomes older and even more rare. This information is very valuable and important for pricing. Any perspective buyer, for any of our vehicles or from other sellers, should ask for all the numbers and information before he or she makes a purchase.

Thank you for looking and please do not hesitate to email or call with any questions.

As a licensed and registered dealer in The State of Ohio we are required to collect sales tax for residents of Ohio with a rate based on the buyer's county. Buyers from all other states will not owe any sales tax to The State of Ohio. For all buyers, including residents of Ohio, all other states, and all other countries, we are required to collect necessary paperwork and have the current title transferred in the buyer's name and address. This process takes two days at the Ohio BMV and any buyer should expect to receive their title within 30 days of purchase, although it is usually closer to one week to receive the title once we receive the returned paperwork.
