Frame Off Concours Restoration, STUNNING CONDITION, Cranberry Red/Black

Seven Hills Motorcars is very proud to offer this absolutely stunning 1970 LS6 Chevelle SS 454 Convertible with a "Special High Performance" LS6 454ci 450hp big block engine. The numbers stamped on the engine block match the VIN, but this Chevelle is an incredibly accurate recreation. Only 18 LS6 Convertibles were produced in 1970 and they sell for hundreds of thousands of dollars. This LS6 offers a very rare opportunity to own, drive, and enjoy a Chevelle convertible that is cosmetically and mechanically indistinguishable from an original LS6 at a fraction of the price. This Chevelle has been treated to a complete mechanical and cosmetic "nut and bolt" frame off rotisserie restoration. There are photos documenting the restoration and a portion of them are pictured below. The car was literally taken down to the bare frame and completely rebuilt from the ground up with a new paint, interior, engine rebuild, transmission rebuild, suspension rebuild, etc. It was done to concourse standards with incredible attention to detail to match the original LS6 down to the proper chalk markings in the engine bay and underside and sourcing accurate and original components with correct part numbers and date codes.

In addition to the Z15 SS (Super Sport) package, LS6 454ci engine, and M40 transmission this Chevelle is absolutely loaded options such as Strato-Bucket Seats, F41 high performance suspension, cowl induction hood, power windows, power steering, power brakes, tilt steering, AM-FM Radio, and Goodyear Polyglas white letter tires. The car is finished in the beautiful and highly desirable color combination of Cranberry Red (75) over Black Vinyl (756). This is the correct color scheme according to the trim tag, which is pictured below.

This Chevelle SS was so precisely restored that was thought to be a true and original LS6 for many years and sold for over $200,000 recently until it was discovered that it was not authentic. In addition to the all of the correctly reproduced numbers and stampings, the car comes with a build sheet that was carefully recreated to look original and a Protect-O-Plate, which are both pictured below. The level of accuracy in this LS6 replica is amazing. Beside all of the correct parts, bolt heads, hose clamps, and chalk markings there are numerous other items that are correct for an SS and LS6. This car has the larger 1.25" front sway bar. This Chevelle also has the heavy-duty steering shaft with a extra bolt attaching the coupler at the rag-joint area. All SS models will have this heavy-duty steering shaft. The standard Malibu will not have the heavy-duty steering shaft. A 12-bolt rear differential was standard equipment on all SS models and is present on this car. The rear sway bar was part of the RPO F41 suspension package and is also on this Chevelle. Other items correct on this car for the RPO F41 suspension are boxed lower-rear control arms and additional frame supports. The boxed control arms will include metal reinforcement plates welded to the bottom of the control arms to provide additional strength. The additional frame supports on this car included with RPO F41 suspension attach to the center-rear frame support above the rear-axle assembly and to the front attaching point of the lower-rear control arms. These items are visible in the photos of the underside of the car below.

There are dozens and dozens of photos from the restoration included with the car and some showing the car on the rotisserie. There are also some more recent receipts pictured below from some maintenance totaling over $4,300. This Super Sport Chevelle looks amazing, runs terrifically, and feels great out on the road. There is no way a similar Chevelle could be built or restored for anything near our asking price. Please peruse all of the photos, video, numbers, and other information below to get a true sense of how exceptionally nice this LS6 Chevelle really is.

As a side note, this SS 454 Chevelle is not a dealer auction vehicle. We hand pick each car after careful inspection. Our Classics come from owners who expect their cars to go to someone that will give the vehicle the same care and attention as they did. We invite and encourage you to examine the car in person or have the car inspected. Please take the time to scrutinize each picture. We photograph each vehicle to the greatest extent so you can feel confident about your purchase. If you have a question about the LS6, just give us a call.

Exterior

The Cranberry Red exterior is in beautiful condition. As one can see in the photos the finish has dazzling gloss, deep shine, and smooth finish. Both doors open nicely with a great feel and the car overall exhibits good body panel fit overall. The wheels and center caps are in excellent condition with a nice finish and no curb rash. The Goodyear Polyglas tires are the original style bias ply's and correctly sized F70x14. The chrome looks great and has a brilliant finish. The car has all correct "T-3" headlamps. The soft-top is in great shape and the rear window is correct in glass; it is not a cheap top with a plastic rear window. The top itself fits well and power top functions smoothly. There are a few years on this restoration so there will be some tiny signs of very limited use around the car. As one can see in the many photos of the underside, this Chevelle is totally solid. The bottom of the car is exceptionally clean and correct for a Z15 and LS6 with appropriate markings and suspension components; the car looks nearly as good underneath as it is on top.

The Chevelle Convertibles looks just as good in person as it does in the photos.

Interior

The Black interior of the Chevelle looks utterly splendid. The seats are in like new condition with virtually no wear. The carpet is also in "like new" condition with no major stains, rips, or holes. The dash is in terrific condition with no cracks, fading, or sun damage. All of the gauges faces are crisp and the lenses are clear. The original am-fm radio sounds good and most importantly the dash has not been cut or modified for an aftermarket installation. The door panels look excellent with no cracks or splits, and both door pulls are solid and in tact. This car has not been smoked in; there is no aroma of cigarettes what so ever.

The trunk is very clean, nicely detailed, and complete with the matching spare tire and rim (which has never been used), jack, jack handle, and jack base.

The interior looks just as good in person as it does in the photos.

Mechanical

This SS Chevelle seems to be in great mechanical condition. The LS6 454ci starts right away every time, runs well, and idles well. The car drives terrifically. In the video below one can observe the car accelerating on the highway up to about 70mph, braking to stoplight, and going through some curves. Please note that there are no strange noises or vibrations and the car performs quite well overall. There is no blue smoke when starting or driving the car. The brakes are responsive and do not pull to one side or the other. The transmission shifts smoothly throughout the power band. This Chevelle has a ton of power and is very fast with the the LS6 454ci engine. Also, the engine compartment is beautifully clean, detailed, and correct as one can see in the photos.

The horn works as do all the exterior lights, interior lights, all power windows, power top, wipers, and even the glove box light. The cowl induction hood works properly and one can see it functioning in the video. The blower for the heater works on all speeds. All of the gauges work including the clock, which keeps accurate time. Not enough can be said as to how much of a pleasure it is to drive this Chevelle, especially with the extra power fro the LS6 and the top down on a beautiful day.

The car runs and drives as well as it looks.

Overall Condition

Overall, this 1970 LS6 Chevelle SS 454ci Big Block is in marvelous condition. This is truly an investment grade classic. As stated above, there is absolutely no way someone could restore a Chevelle to anywhere near this level for any amount near our asking price.

The frame off restoration, the great attention to detail, and the beautiful color combination make this car especially important and difficult to duplicate. This Chevelle always gets a ton of attention driving down the road. It is very apparent that the vehicle has been well taken care of by its previous owners. One could easily enjoy this vehicle for several years and sell it for more than the purchase price with minimal effort.

Thank you for looking and please email or call with any questions.
