This car has a fantastic service history and there are dozens and dozens of receipts and documents for maintenance and repairs over the years. The receipts total almost $17,000!!

The market on the R107 Mercedes SL is absolutely red hot right now and this example is priced to sell. Very low mileage and original examples of the R107 Mercedes SL are exceptionally difficult to find and draw a huge premium in the current market. The low original mileage is also verified not only by the condition of the car, but also by the clear Ohio title, pictured in this ad, showing the mileage as "Actual."

Exterior

The Astral Silver exterior is in good driver condition. The car basically looks in person as it does in the photos. Both doors open and shut nicely; it has that solid Mercedes touch and feels like a vault door closing. The original alloy wheels are in great shape with no curb rash. The Pirelli tires have plenty of tread and are correctly sized 205/70R14. The chrome and other bright-work look nice. There are no major imperfections that have been intentionally excluded from the photos. As one would expect from a paintjob with many years on it there are some small blemishes and scratches around that are too tiny so show up in the photos. As one can see in the many photos of the underside, this 450SL is very clean underneath. We have also included specific photos of the rockers, lower front and rear quarter panels, and other areas on the car most prone to rust to show how it looks.

Interior

The Royal Blue interior of the 450SL looks absolutely fantastic. The seats look almost brand new and are in excellent condition with no tears, rips, or excessive wear. The seat is not overly worn at all in the typical area on the driver's bolster where the driver gets in and out. All of the gauges faces are crisp and the lenses are clear. The carpet is also in excellent condition with no holes, rips, or stains. The original door panels look wonderful and both door pulls are solid and in tact. The Dark Blue convertible soft-top is in good condition. The rear windows are not yellowed or foggy. The dash is not faded, but does have some cracks. This car has never been smoked in; there is no aroma of cigarettes what so ever and no burn marks. The trunk is very clean and nicely detailed with the a spare tire, and rim, jack.

The excellent condition of this interior is a huge testament to the meticulous care and attention this Mercedes has received throughout its life.

Mechanical

This 450SL appears to be in good mechanical condition and it is ready to be enjoyed. As stated above there are nearly $17,000 in receipts that go with the car. The engine idles well and runs great. It is a nice driver that feels great on the road and at highway speeds. In the video one can observe the car accelerating on the highway up to about 70mph, shifting through all the gears, braking to a stoplight, and going through some curves. Please note that it runs great, there are no strange noises, and the car performs quite nice overall. The brakes are responsive and do not pull to one side or the other. There is no blue smoke when starting or driving the car. It runs cool and does not overheat. The gauge shows that the engine makes great oil pressure. Also, the engine bay is clean, nicely detailed, and correct as one can see from the photos.

Please note in the video the dash warning lights working properly; they light up when the key is first turned on and then go off when the engine is started as they should. There are no "check engine" lights that stay on. The horn works as do the fog lights, headlights, brights, turn signals, interior lights, power windows, power antenna, power locks, indicators, wipers, and fan. The a/c works and blows cold. All of the gauges work with the obvious exception of the clock. This Mercedes is smooth and quick with the 4.5 liter V8 engine. Not enough can be said as to how much of a pleasure it is to drive this car, especially with the top down on a beautiful day.

Overall Condition

Overall, this 1976 450SL is in excellent condition and is a true bargain at our asking price. The market on for the R107 body style SL Mercedes is very strong right now, particularly for low mileage and original examples like this car. This Mercedes is a great value and will only appreciate over time. Someone could easily enjoy this vehicle for several years and sell it for more than the purchase price with minimal effort.
